A huge part of me loves the mystery of something pre-loved. - And the SAAC definitely got this part of me giddy. Seriously. This is legitimately a vintage clothing, music, jewellery, glass, furniture, EVERYTHING shop. The place is HUGE. And they have a cafe and gift shop. You could really lose track of time, and even then, you'd feel like there was more to see. I didn't want to miss anything, and I've already planned my next visit, alongside a list of folks who I know will love it as much as I do. Price-wise, yes, antiques can be expensive business but if you're planning to buy a gift for someone special, then you could most definitely stay within budget. The jewellery section was absolutely stunning with an amazing amount of choice and a variety of prices too. Equally so, if you're looking for something really really special and prepared to spend that bit more, you won't be stuck for choice here. - There are just so many beautiful things I felt free to wander and, whilst staff walked around the centre and CCTV was in operation, it wasn't intrusive and it didn't make me feel uncomfortable. You could visit just for the sake of visiting and make a real day of it, and even go to the cafe afterwards. - Something I've a feeling I'll want to do again and again and again.

They do furniture, books, paintings, jewellery, clothes, old toys, coins, postcards - heck, just about anything! And when you're done there's a wee coffee shop there too. The Collectique is an antiques and collectors store in Falkirk's town centre. It's not huge, but…read moreit's always worth a wander around to see what treats they have - you're bound to find something unique. They have all kinds of things, from art and furniture to stamps and train sets. I recommend going in with an open mind and not much of a plan of what to buy, ready to find the unexpected. That said, the staff seem to know their stuff, so I suspect that if you wanted something specific they'd be able to help - either to sell you it themselves, or to point you to where else you might find it. I like their old, leather bound books and the costume jewellery, but the ornaments and little knick-knacks they have are always intriguing too. I suspect that wandering around in here to kill a few minutes is something that will turn into a habit for me now that I've found the place.

It looks like the space houses the collections of a few different dealers, so the right side of the building tends towards smaller kitchy-er stuff, and the left side tends towards larger pieces. There are also loads of chairs up and random bits stuck on a makeshift mezzanine level. We spoke briefly with someone who was unloading a truck who said that stock turnover is pretty high so you could easily pop in here once a week and see new things every time. Very cool, very funky and very much full of things I want in my house.

At the start are the small shops which recently were, arts and crafts, bespoke furniture (wood and driftwood used), an aquatic pets centre, toys (hand made) and cards and gifts. In the antiques section there are sections devoted to books, jewellery, furniture and memorabilia with some stalls set out more like an old style front room or living room. The jewellery section is just many cabinets with rows and rows of precious and semi-precious items. I couldn't believe how big this place was as it doesn't look as big from the road. All the vendors are polite and friendly. The farmer's market is more just locally grown veg and some fruit (all seasonal). The cafe is a little expensive but all the items are made locally or on the premises. The apple pie is amazing and I think I was about £5 for apple pie and a pot of tea. At Christmas time there is Santa for the children though I'm not sure how much this costs. The only thing that lets this down is the parking, there just isn't enough parking spaces and if you arrive in the afternoon then you sometimes have to queue to get a parking space.

The prices are very reasonable too compared to the antique fairs I normally go to! I have been around 4/5 times now and everytime I go I always treat myself to something nice. There is something there for everyone, lots of small shops & a cafe. This place so so big it will take the best part of a day to look at everything.
