Please do not work here. -100 stars. Work at Allied Universal instead.
-Management is a mess on every level, is completely unprofessional, unorganized, and lacks communication skills. It's no wonder they keep losing their best accounts.
-I was given less than 12 hours of training for the job site I worked at. 4 of those hours were just reading the handbook, the other 8 were with a fellow concierge who was more experienced at the location, who I later found out had been setting me up for failure.
-Extremely passive aggressive & hostile (text) group chat with my Allied direct supervisor, the experienced concierge, and the other concierges in training.
-Fast turnover rate. A week after being hired, I saw a new Indeed posting for my same job. I have spotted at least four more since then. It seems they'd rather just have an insanely high turnover rate than take the time to properly train their employees.
-The location I was stationed at is terrible. A certain high-end, luxury apartment complex on a street in Hollywood that rhymes with 'Dine St.'
-They certainly don't care about their employees. The concierge and security officer break/lunch room was a stuffy, stinky, dark room in the parking garage.
-I felt very unsafe working swing shifts. I carried a stun gun when going to and from the garage, and to my car at night. A security officer had been stabbed with a screwdriver by a transient weeks prior. There were many transients in the area, and they were constantly finding ways through the front doors (which were kept locked, but only at certain times?) and being threatening & hostile to concierges and tenants.
-Many residents were entitled. Especially the teenagers with filthy rich parents. They were the type to verbally abuse staff, host Covid-19 riddled parties every night, and never wear their masks or follow social distancing protocol in the lobby. I couldn't believe what I was hearing when a particular group of teenage residents came in, laughing and telling me about how they'd thrown $300 off a balcony at a transient, because "they thought it would be funny if a drug addict looked up and saw money raining down around him." But then they ran outside to GET THEIR MONEY BACK, AFTER GOD FORBID, HE STARTED PICKING IT UP. What?!?! Disgusting behavior.
-If I did something the property manager was unhappy with, no one would tell me directly. Both he, my direct supervisor, & the other concierges would leave me in the dark to guess about what I needed to improve on. The experienced concierge disliked me for whatever reason, so she was giving me terrible advice about protocol, and setting me up to fail.
-When my direct manager did communicate with me, he thought it was a better idea to text me when I was not on the clock, or say something vague in the group chat, rather than to keep me informed via email or in person.
-Again, a group chat with colleagues is a terrible idea. There was constant butt-kissing of the supervisor, coworkers were thrown under the bus, there was blame-shifting, and dog piling. It was toxic, and led to the formation of a clique whom I'm convinced wanted me fired.
-My direct supervisor would tell me gossip and talk badly about the other concierges. No doubt he did the same thing with the other concierges instead of being a professional and telling us to our faces what the issues were.
-When he did reprimand me (via text) for certain things, they were directly contrary to what I had been told to do by the experienced concierge who "trained me."
-The property manager of the apartment building would be very sweet to my face, but would apparently be "fuming" behind closed doors, according to the experienced concierge. I swear, these girls love gossip and passive aggression.
-When I was fired, I was given zero reason or explanation. I was careful to follow procedure by the book, and do my best in a very hectic environment. I was again left in the dark about what I'd done wrong.
-The icing on the cake of my firing is that I received a paper in the mail from Allied, asking me to mail them my uniforms, and they'd reimburse me for my uniform costs and the cost of shipping ($50 + shipping). I did.
After receiving nothing for two months, I call, and apparently they are not reimbursing me for the uniforms, because there were never deducted from my paycheck, and they also lost the shipping receipt I included in the box. So that was a giant lie too, and they just wanted me to send the uniforms back for free. Luckily, I kept a copy of the shipping receipt and demanded I be reimbursed for the shipping. I'd done them a favor by sending their uniforms back after the disgusting way they handled my firing, and that was treated with unprofessionalism as well.
