Allen's Sod installed the sprinkler system for our entire yard. When we decided to add a lanai, they came out and disconnected the system and removed the necessary sprinkler heads. That was October. Now we can't get them back out here to reconnect it! We have called every week or two and get promises that they'll "be out next week" and then we hear nothing more. Last Tuesday she promised they'd be out today. We make plans around this! and when we called this morning, we were told we aren't on the schedule for today. And a subsequent call told us they'll be out NEXT THURSDAY!! We're supposed to believe that?? This is ridiculous. I asked if this job isn't big enough to bother with and she said she can't answer that. Please PLEASE don't call this company unless it's a big one-time job. Your people were great!!! From the front office to the installers. Due to a dry spell, the Bahia sod wasn't ready to harvest. The office stayed in touch with me throughout the project. Once the grass was ready the install date was scheduled. The installation crew arrived on time. The work was quickly and professionally done. Initially the grass was dry and bumpy. So I followed the recommended watering schedule and in two weeks the grass was green and lush but still bumpy. After a couple of days of good rain fall I had them come out and re-roll the yard. That took care of the problem and now the lawn is smooth. With my landscape complete I now can sit back and enjoy my yard. Thank you for your excellent service. read more

On August 22, 2022 Allen Sod completed the installation of my new sod (Saint Augustine Sod). The process took way longer that I expected. Mark came in for the measurements on or about in late June or early July. I clearly explained what I wanted it done in my yard to include laying the sod closed to each other to prevent weeds from popping up and I requested that no sod be placed between my planting beds and my oval made of curving. I was also told that once the sod was laid down that it would be tolled by the big machine outside the fence and with a smaller manual roller inside the yard. At the time I was told that the sod inside the yard that was fenced would cost and additional $600 because the big machine would not fit to the gate and they need it to bring in the sod by wheel barrel that should created extra physical work for the workers. Maybe two weeks later Avalon was subcontracted by Allen Sod to spray herbicide and kill the grass that was to be replaced. At that time I was told to call back if I saw weeds in a week. I saw weeds and I called Allen Sod and spoke to either Teresa or Renee and explained that the yard still had weeds and more were growing up because Allen Sod was taking to long to replace the sod. I was asked if I wanted to go ahead and have the sod replace the next day as they had an opening. I told the lady that they needed to spray herbicide again because more weeds were growing. Allen Sod contacted Avalon Sod again for respraying herbicide; however, the person only spot spray leading to more and more weeds growing. Allen sod sent Avalon for a third time and a few days later around August 20, 2022 they started the process to exchanged my sod. The very first day I spoke to one of the Allen Sod employees about making sure that the sod was installed as I had requested. He stated that he had the instructions from Mark and that everything would be fine. They stated on August 22, 2022 that the job was completed. IT WAS NOT. Here is why I have a problem with the service and this was not address even after I contacted Allen Sod. I ended up paying $5,900 to replace 4,200 S/F of sod. Everything that I paid for was not done in accordance with what was discussed during the process. A few days after the sod was laid down my wife and I notice that the sod was infested with weeds. I immediately contacted Allen Sod and spoke to Renee or Teresa and explaining what was going on. I was told to wait a few days and I also mentioned that they never rolled the sod in the back yard. On August 31, 2022 I called Allen Sod and I spoke to Penny and I explained the problem with the weed infested sod. She had the nerve to tell, "Grass is grass what do you expect?" I reply to her that I replace my sod because it had weeds and they need it to replace the weed infested sod; because if that was the case I didn't need to change my sod. I even sent pictures. I was told that the sod could still be rolled a week after it was laid down. I received a phone call by Renee I believe and she asked if I was home to come and rolled the sod. NO ONE CAME. My wife and I have spent at least 50 hours each pulling weed from this new weed infested sod. I asked a couple of people that work pulling weeds and I was told that they do it for $15 an hour, which means that my wife and I spent $1,500 of sweat on the new sod. NO COMPENSATION OR PARTIAL REFUND RECEIVED. I spoke two Renee or Teresa about getting the infested sod replace and I was told that it had 30 day warranty. That this would be address in the near future. If my wife and I didn't remove the weeds the sod would have to be totally replaced. Now, base on my conversations with the employees I believe that this would not take place. If you look at the pictures after a week you see the amount of weed on this sod. The procedures to take care of the sod where done, but Allen Sod refused to send someone to check on my concerns with the excessive amount of weeds. I called and question my issues with Renee and Mark. I was assure that the roller would come in a couple of days (didn't happen). NO REFUND issue for this. The sod was never laid down on wheel barrels, instead they used an ATV. When I requested a refund I was told that the ATV is the same as a wheel barrel for Allen Sod. This is totally unacceptable (Allen Sod refused to acknowledge overcharged for wheel barrel of $600) NO 'REFUND ISSUED. I personally, believe that Allen Sod took advantage of not only a senior citizen, but a disable veteran with 24 years of active military service in the US Army. In closing I would never recommend a business that takes advantage of seniors or disable veterans. I usually take my time to recognize when a company does a good job. This is not the case on this review. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ALLEN SOD FOR ANY SOD REPLACEMENT. read more

If I could give this company a -10, I would. The absolute worst sod we have ever seen. Grass was supposed to be Bahia but there is a mixture of something else along with more weeds than grass. We had another company look at our yard and they were appalled by the sod and its application. So far they are refusing to remedy the poor product and service. I had the base of my large oak tree filled in with dirt and sod. Before they filled in with sod it was hard to mow around the tree since the roots around the base were around 8 inches in diameter and spread out like a spider web. After they finished the base was filled in so I can easily mow it now. I love my yard now its beautiful. The guys were all courteous proficient and professional. read more

Allen's Sod Service did a wonderful job with my back yard. They were reasonable, knowledgeable, and totally professional. After the job was done, they checked to make sure I was satisfied and gave me instructions on what to expect with the growth of the lawn and maintenance tips.
