Since it was winter time, it was much too cold to eat outside but I can imagine it would be beautiful to dine al fresco in the summertime. Even so, the inside of the cafe was quite romantic with the mini palm trees. I ordered the vegan carrot risotto and a Kyoto Romance green tea. The risotto completely exceeded my expectations. It was creamy and the carrot shavings on top were so crispy. I would highly recommend it to vegans and non vegans alike.

Cafe Ruffini has two parts: it's split into a "take away" portion where you can point at a window and take cafe eats with you if you're on the go. OR you can grab a seat inside. I was here midday and it was packed! We had to wait around for a little bit. There was something for everyone whether you were sitting for a cappuccino & a cake or there for a whole meal. Upon entering, you'll see an enticing case of pastries. As a non-German speaker/ tourist, I was pretty reluctant to ask, but there was charming man, that spoke enough english to help me with my curious sweet tooth. I picked the walnut cake (see pic). It seemed like the popular thing. By the last bites of it, I saw 2-3 others had ordered the same. If you want to spruce up your normal coffee routine, get the amaretto latte. It's a bit sweet, but a treat to top off a meal along with that walnut cake. Ok...I think I've just convinced myself that I need to go back soon. Walnut cake + amaretto latte. One more thing, I think they screen films there at night and/or have live music too. This might be another excuse to go back. They have an extensive wine list available online. Good wine selection and good food (organic if you care), in the summertime the rooftop terrace is usually open (self-service though, but very nice for sundowns or breakfast). Often quite full, especially on weekends - if you want to come with 4+ people better to reserve a table. Be aware though, that the many good reviews received by this place not necessarily mean that this is a perfect cafe. If you see it from the outside or take a quick first impression look inside you may wonder if this is the right place - I think the reviews just show that people like to hang out here, the atmosphere is nice despite the dated interior. :-)

The carrot cake I had with the coffee was pretty poor in my opinion and very dry. Actually all three of us had the same opinion about the carrot cake. The coffee was also ok nothing special. The ambience is nice and there are nice comfy chairs and loads of interesting quotes on the walls. Value for money here is pretty poor and that alone will keep me from coming back here. Creedence Clearwater Revival war hier wohl gerade aufgelegt, denn das Album zieht mit. Die Stimmung war genial. Frische Säfte, leckerer und starker Tobak ähm Kaffee, genialste Oldies via Vinyl und südamerikanische Küche. Man mag die zwei auch direkt. Sehr herzlich und offen. München kann das!
