Good coffee with a nice and diverse selection, excellent attentive waiting staff(depending on how busy they are). The setting of the place is very nice with tables and couches depending on your group size. It can be very home like with the setting of the couches which makes it an excellent environment to relax and get some work done. Toys for kids and nice areas for families to visit. yes, yes, yes. YES. Sabine H had been singing the praises of Vits Kaffee when I divulged that I was seeking the best cup in Munich. We all decided to meet...and, I can affirm Sabine H knows her stuff. What a wonderful recommendation :) If you are familiar with Blue Bottle, Stumptown, etc in the States...Vits Kaffee will please your coffee-feigning palate just perfectly. If you aren't? Well, you're in for a treat, too! It's actually quite a large spot with many seating options, and very convenient to public transportation. Arriving around 2pm, our mellow group took over the back corner with couches. I think its meant for kids (some toys/games) but also really nice for a group of 7 or so to catch up and have some extremely lovely coffee. By 4pm all the tables were filled with weekend revelers....and the din elevated significantly. The sound was a bit loud, but very congenial and jovial. My two drinks: a cappuccino (swan milk foam art!) and a hot cocoa (this one came with a bear!). I actually preferred the hot cocoa, very rich and dark and such an indulgent treat. Some key points: *they roast in-house. It smells divine. *They have an extensive menu that describes all of the beans and procedures, and even information on how you can learn to make the milk foam designs! This may be motivation enough to learn German. So I can make milk foam like teddy bear faces. It really does make the experience better, it does! *table service or counter service is available. Our server was very helpful, and several stopped by to make sure our group had everything we needed. *cash or german bank cards only. After all the great hype of this café, we had to check out what this is all about. The place is spacious, bright (ceiling-to-floor windows and white walls), and cute (coffee bean bags used as seat stool covers or hung as tapestries). Highly recommended as a place to meet up with friends. But with free Wi-fi, I could also go there alone to read, study, work, etc. Ok, the hype holds--the coffees are indeed very good! Aside from choosing the coffee drink of choice, we could also pick one of the 3 coffee varieties. We had the cappuccino from "Kaffee der Woche" (coffee of the week, which was the Brazilian Bob-O-Link) and a caffè latte from "Einmal um die Welt" (coffee blend from various parts of the world). The drinks come with such pretty coffee foam art (i.e. a swan or a flower) that I didn't want to destroy it. But once I tasted my latte, I didn't care so much about the art anymore and enjoyed sipping my drink away. A slice of their cakes (i.e. "Maracuja Schmand" aka passionfruit "cream" cake or cheesecake) was a nice compliment to the coffee. My main complaint is the service. We were there late Saturday morning, and they only had one waitress serving the entire cafe (remember, it's big!). Great coffee shop in the city near Isator. I have been here a couple of times and their coffee is consistently good. I went here for a barista evening and also learnt some coffee art and they do great care in preparing their coffee, roasting their own beans and grinding it fresh everyday to server customers a coffee full of flavour and intensity. I would probably drop in here everyday if I lived close by :-) One of my favourite coffee shops in Munich. Service can be a bit slow on weekends if you plan to have a coffee there. read more

I have driven by this place so many times on my usual Tram 16 Route (located between Isartor and Reichenbachplatz stops) but never tried it until recently - don't make the same mistake! Start enjoying their ausgezeichnet coffee ASAP! I even had mine with soy milk, which I was a little skeptical about, but boy was it delicious. My Munich fave was always Bar Centrale but now I have two favorites (yay!) There's room for both, since Vits Kaffee focuses more on coffee beans and the roasting process in a variety of flavors, and not just offering great cappuccinos/espressos. Friendly service was also a plus! I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch too: fresh stir-fried vegies in a very nice sauce, and not the all-too familiar generic Asian sauce found all over Munich, this was really fresh and tasty. On the day I was there you could choose from a curry vegie or chicken dish as well as a ginger carrot soup. So, while not such a heavy, hearty meal it's just the ticket for a light lunch. I also noticed some tasty-looking croissants at the counter but didn't try these (yet!). After I asked where the owner is, staff told me, he is on vacation ( no wonder maybe ? ) Came around 16:30 .. all cake gone ! if you have a coffee shop with this size and review , you should Always have some cake in spare .. my table was never cleaned properly, and waiter always passed by our table, without clearing or asking for something else .. I have been wanting to visit Vits for a while. Friends who are quite the coffee-snobs told me about it ages ago. I did try to go once, but not knowing that they were closed on Sundays and Holidays, did not get to try it at the time. The central location is quite convenient without being right on the main Marienplatz area where every tourist comes in. There are a few tables outside. The day was sunny but not warm. The afternoon sun was on that side of the building though, I can imagine in the summertime, it would be fantastic to sit and have an iced coffee. As it were, we sat inside. There is a nice bar to sit and have a drink at or several tables with chairs, a few couches etc. I arrived at 15:00 to find almost every table full. Those that were empty, had Reservation tags. After hanging around trying not to stare too intently at people with empty cups, I pounced the minute a couple had finished and their table was free. The selection of roasts is nice... more than one or two but not so many that one is overwhelmed and cannot make a decision. I ordered a Cafe Latte with double shots of Espresso in a mild roast. It was very nice and I was quite happy with it. I also ordered a slice of the Apfel kuchen... more reminiscent of an apple pie rather than a cake. It was good, but didn't knock me off my chair. However, they have several other cake and tortes to choose from so I definitely plan to go back. My friend ordered a panini with proscuitto and cheese. It was well made and very tasty. Just enough for a mid-afternoon Snack or light lunch. Conclusion: I will definitely be back to try more roasts and more cake. Seating availability could be better if better arranged, but if you are wise enough to reserve ahead of time or drop in knowing there might be a wait, then this is not a problem. Vits Kaffee is a third wave coffee and roastery shop and makes the BEST Cappuccino in town! I've been living in Munich for a year and I've been on the lookout for a great Cappuccino for a while until I stumbled upon Vits. It's a great place to sit read have sandwiches and coffee, I love their grilled mozzarella and tomato panini and their lunch Thai chicken curry is absolutely delicious. Love this place, quite spacious and luminous. Very friendly staff and very knowledgeable about all things coffee, they roast their own beans and you can buy some too. They even offer several barista training seminars that are on their website. I took the latte art class with Andrew, he's awesome and a great instructor. I can't wait to buy a real espresso machine. I admit it, I'm biased against coffee places where the staff doesn't primarily speak Italian. And more importantly perhaps, there is a difference between an Italian bar and a place like Vits: in an Italian bar, great coffee is simply a natural piece of life, not always fabulous but rarely bad, but Vits is a place by coffee enthusiasts and especially happy to cater to coffee enthusiasts. Far would it be for me to ding nerds; I should probably be classified as one myself, so do not interpret it negatively when I call Alexander Vits a coffee nerd. He is a coffee nerd and a great one. A coffee nerd is who you want by your side as you venture into exotic blends, brewing techniques, roasting tricks, or just actively enjoying coffee. It just gets somehow a bit more artificial than the natural it's-just-great-coffee atmosphere of an Italian bar. I had been to Vits before the great yelp Elite event at Vits, so the place wasn't new to me, but now I know where to go for coffee nerd advice, and I have been back already. They sure know their stuff. And it's ok to just sit back and enjoy your cappuccino, you don't have to be a coffee nerd to enjoy the place. :) read more

Probably the best caffe latte I've had anywhere. The milk is foamed consistently through such that the last sip is as smooth and foamy as the first. The coffee is tasty and never bitter. One lady who works here told me that they roast 20 types of coffee! While in Munich, this is the place to start the day. read more
