Jim, Erin, Gayle and I were on Murano Island and were pretty much "glassed out". Our retail adventure included one of the glass factory tours, Gayle buying a stunning necklace at a place just down the road, and window shopping at more art glass than I have ever seen in my life. Is it wrong of me to say that despite all this beauty, it all started to look the same?
We were also maybe ready for Lunch or at least a place to sit down for a drink. So by random choice, we wandered into Alla Vecchia Fornace. They have a lovely outdoor (with shade) lounge area, which means that they'll serve you drinks, sandwiches are available up front, but no orders could be taken from the dining area behind us. As we weren't in the mood for sammies, we hung around and relaxed for awhile with our favourite adult beverages. Alla Vecchia Fornace definitely gave us a quiet and welcome respite from the busy retail world just outside the front entrance. read more
