The rules of consigning changes depending on who answers the phone. 3 weeks after I dropped off my items it took them 20 minutes to even find my account. I am so confused about the payouts. I dropped my stuff off the middle of May, did not go on the floor until the middle of June. First check was at the end of July. I was told July 26th that I had $30 on my account but when I asked what my Check would be in August, I was told nothing and I would have to wait until September. I just called September 18th and I was told that I missed the 15th cut off so I would not get a check until October! WHAT! They have no clue what they are doing and will just argue! I'm done and can't wait until this nightmare is over!

I also appreciate that they market themselves as a "Mercantile" and not an "antique store," as many "antique stores" sell a bunch of non-antiques which is frustrating, so I'm grateful for the straightforward and clear marketing! The tea room in the back is super cute, there'll be a separate review for that. I found a couple of darling things for good prices that I'm very excited for, and I was very pleasantly surprised to see several staff members roaming the store, with one kind woman offering to hold our items up front while we shop! This is a 5/5 AMAZING example of what all of these types of shops should be. I will be back with friends!

Everything I said about this place in my previous review, still rings true but they do have a lot of clothing that older women find appealing. So we found a beautiful smock blouse, long and floaty in a nice bright red and we brought it up to the counter. It was $160 plus with tax and all the girl did was wad up in a ball and stuff in a bag , but she even had to ask if we wanted a bag. Really these people don't care about what they're selling behind the counter I was appalled Do we want a bag? Did you think we were gonna wear it out? And one of the merchants there wouldn't they appreciate having their stock treated a little bit better with a little bit more respect.?

I had been eager to visit this store because I noticed they had adorable baby clothes. My friend…read moreand I stopped by on Friday, February 28, 2025, around 12:30 p.m. As soon as we entered, a blonde woman at the register, wearing an olive green jacket, approached me and began to follow me around the small shop. It was quite apparent that she was keeping a close eye on me. My friend has a lighter skin tone, while I have a darker complexion, and it felt like the staff's attention was directed at me in a negative way. The other employees were also blonde with fair skin, and one had light brown hair but still appeared fair. The woman in the olive green jacket was not monitoring my friend or the other customers, which was disheartening. I had heard from friends in various parts of California about the racism faced by people of color, but I had never personally encountered such unwelcoming treatment until today. The experience I had at the store, where I felt discriminated against because of my darker skin tone, is completely unacceptable and highlights a breakdown in customer service and inclusivity. It was troubling, and I felt singled out and uneasy during my visit, which contradicts the standards of effective customer service and professionalism. When customers feel unwelcome or face discrimination, it can greatly affect their overall experience and may drive them to seek alternatives. In this instance, I decided not to support a business that made me feel unwelcome and discriminated against. I hope the business owner(s) will recognize and address issues of racism or discrimination to foster a safe and inclusive environment. While I understand that businesses have the right to determine how they treat their customers, the way I was mistreated, profiled, and discriminated against is intolerable. I hope this raises awareness for other people of color regarding such behaviors and the lack of customer service they may encounter in this establishment. I'm sorry I didn't take pictures due to my experience or else you know I would've had many pictures for you all to look at. I hope POC have a better experience than I did if you still decide to check this business after reading this review. Happy Yelping and SYOY

The interaction came across as rude, and my husband felt disrespected during our time in the store. As a Hispanic man, the situation was especially uncomfortable for him. We truly wanted to enjoy and support this business, but we left feeling uneasy. I hope this feedback helps encourage more thoughtful and respectful interactions with all customers. Because of this experience, we won't be returning.
