This is a LONG overdue review. As a professional procrastinator I like things to be easy before I proceed. I received quotes from many other Facebook recommended landscapers and was given designs that didn't fit with my nonexistent vision. In fact the 2 quotes I got couldn't be more different and the companies bad mouthed each other. So like a true procrastinator I went with neither. Months later I was ready to start the process....thats when I met Mike and Cesar. Mike is the owner of All Terrain and from the moment he meets you he will treat you like a longtime friend. In fact-before he even had my business they came out to my house twice and took me to a nursery. I explained to Mike that I had no vision for my yard but that it needed to be spruced up. He asked me what plants I liked and didn't like- I had no idea what plants I liked. Mike took me to 2 nurseries and his home property where we drove up and down the aisles as he took notes of what I thought was nice and what I didn't like. Mike asked me my budget. He didn't give me an estimate until he knew what we were working with. We did a decent job staying close but ended up needing more sprinkler work and a new pump as well as new grass and which I planned on doing so within reason we made adjustments. I never felt pressured to make decisions and we changed design a couple times. My yard looks AWESOME. Mike and his entire team showed up and got the job done. Mike stayed in constant communication. Even after the job was done Mike checked in to make sure I was watering the grass and came back to check on my sprinkler pump (and even fixed up some stuff at no extra cost). Mike and his team also did some side jobs for neighbors who were so excited at how nice my yard was coming along. The landscaping of our yard was completed yesterday and several neighbors have already stopped by to say how nice it looks. From the initial consultation, visit to the nursery to select plants, and two days of work, Mike - the owner - was on hand to answer questions, give advice and - the part that doesn't always happen - listen to and respect our personal preferences and budget constraints. We benefitted from Mike's extensive experience and expertise and trusted his advice on design, plant suitability and landscape maintenance. But he also was flexible enough to solicit our input and change things on the fly by swapping out plants and design elements as he and his team were working. To call Mike Squillace a landscaper is an understatment - he is a visionary! He took our blank slate of a backyard and created a tropical oasis. From our initial conversation with Mike, we knew immediately he understood our vision. We took a tour of his 40 acre nursery where he communicated the pros/ cons of each plant and which ones were ideal for our lawn and objectives. Then he came out twice to survey the land and design a plan that would provide a tropical canopy - functional yet aesthetic. The day of the transformation, he arrived on-site with his team (who are top-notch - hard working, knowledgeable and personable) and worked diligently over the course of 2 days. Mike, Cesar, Sean, Fernold, Lama, Johnnie and the whole crew are amazing! I was quite nervous because the front and back yard needed a lot of work. Mike was very patient and kept redesigning and was not happy until he went through all the details. Although I went over budget...it was well worth it. My kids and I are soooo happy. Our yard looks completely new and gives a beautiful look to the whole house. The crew worked extensively every day for 2 weeks. Extremely hard workers. They really do great work and magic. We have enlisted the help of All Terrain Landscaping for the second time. Mike, Sean, and the whole crew really know their stuff. We had a drainage issue with water pooling up near the foundation so we had All Terrain install a drainage system to lead water away from the house. They also excavated and levelled a small hill which made it possible for us to install a fence in a straight line, and also put in a retaining wall. Mike, the owner, is truly an artist and transformed our front yard with a fabulous design which included rocks, plants, sod, and a new tree to satisfy code. The curb appeal of our home just went up considerably. The entire crew is curteous, punctual, extremely knowledgeable and a joy to work with. We had our front yard landscaped by All Terrain a few years ago, and it turned out beautifully. Mike and Dan listened to our special requests (koi pond with bridge across it, etc) and really delivered. We even won a property improvement award from our city thanks to the great job they did. What I value even more, though, was the tremendous personal service that we have received from Mike, and from Dan who now runs Ft. Lauderdale Landscaping. They've each made a special trip at different times when we had an emergency problem with the koi pond (both times due to user error with the filter) while we were out of town. And they didn't charge for these trips (one on a Sunday), which was really amazing.
