I love that they are a tight-knit community that still manages to be so incredibly warm and welcoming towards new folks (like myself). They even do a monthly free workout called their "Friends and Family Day." I've been going to a gym for about a year and a half now 5x a week but was looking for something different that could challenge me and make me sweat. Vitality has been exactly that thing! They have 30 minute and hour workouts depending on what your preference is (30 mins is HIIT and 1 hr is more about strength and conditioning). All the trainers are incredibly knowledgeable and are awesome at pushing you and motivating you. I also like that they work with you on perfecting your form while doing exercises and movements so you prevent injury/maximize your effectiveness. I don't have great knees and when I let the trainers know that, they did a great job at modifying some of the exercises so I could still get a great workout in while remaining safe. They gym is super clean and they have tons of equipment that is in good condition. I also love how LGBTQ friendly the gym is which is a huge deal to me. This truly is a gym that is inclusive and for everyone!

For the past couple of years, I've enjoyed the student rate that they offer; it's very affordable and comes with access to all the classes as well as the pool. Plus during the summer on the weekdays they stay open till 8pm yet on weekends close super early why not open for the hottest part of the day instead of really early people like to sleep in on weekend. Then during the summer my child who has adhd and autism was yelled at by a lifeguard duh it's a pool you're going to get splashed you don't like it leave. She gave everyone a discount code to try a class free at their studio so I thought I'd give their studio a try. I made an account online and scheduling/ checking out was super easy. They do have a 2hr cancellation policy, after which they will charge you. Price wise, Barre Code is more affordable than its competitors, Barre3 and PureBarre. They have a new member package that is $89 for a month of unlimited classes which I think is superb and you can try a class for free using a discount code. Parking was tough on Harrison and the studio itself is on the second floor so it was a little hard to find. Once inside, the studio was immaculate, clean, and welcoming. The receptionist was very nice and helped me check in. They have spacious bathrooms, a childcare area, lockers, a changing room (which doubles as a mother's room!), and even a nice vanity for freshening up. Towel rental and bottles of water are available for purchase for $1. Kelley was there greeting students and even remembered meeting me. The class itself was great- high energy, challenging, and I'm confident that I will see results. There were around 10 people in my class and my instructor, Marissa, was very down to earth, encouraging, and attentive. There are 3 levels of class difficulty- Barre Code, TBC (total body conditioning), and HIIT. There are also 2 classes on the weekends - HIIT and Barre restore that focus on stretching and recovery.

I moved away with work and got into powerlifting, but when I had to come back to New Orleans for 2 weeks and needed a gym, I decided to check it out again. One of the owners, David, was super awesome and offered me a free pass to come check out a class and even offered me a great deal on a 2 week open gym membership (thank you!). I was happy to see that a lot of the gym members from prior had stayed so the environment is still very much the same fun camaraderie. Just my luck, my intro back into CrossFit was one of the open workouts 23.3 (it was a doozy). I got lucky and the head coach, Thomas, was the coach for the class I attended, and he was a SAINT for putting up with me dying at the simplest of workouts and helping me scale to things I could manage. So for those people who might be nervous about trying it for fear of looking weak or out of shape, you shouldn't fear this gym, they'll work with you and get you caught up (although maybe check that it's not the opener before you show up LOL). I love that they work with you through the motions, have an awesome warm-up that is a workout in and of itself, and like I said, if you're serious about getting into great shape this is the gym for you! Thank you Vanguard for an awesome experience.
