I dealt directly with the owners, Bill and his brother Jamie. After a windstorm yesterday, a number of the shingles blew off of the roof. I've put calls in to both of the owners. No one answered at the two company phone numbers and no-one responded to my text messages. It is my hope that someone from the company will do the necessary repairs, but the lack of any response thus far suggests otherwise. I am open to the possibility that Bill and Jamie will stand behind their company's work and make this right. If they do, I will be sure to revise this review. Unless I get this follow-through, I would advise other prospective customers to beware of doing business with this company. UPDATE: Bill D, one of the owners of J&B Roofing, returned my call this morning. He informed me that he would go out to do the repair, but that I would need to pay for the labor. I told him that charging me for repairs on a roof he installed 45 days ago was unacceptable. We agreed that he would go out to the site and survey the damage and we could discuss how to proceed after that. He never showed up and never called me back. Concerned that he would not follow through and worried about the workmanship, I had another roofing company go out and give me an estimate for the repair. I was told by the company that rather than using starter shingles, J&B reused the pre-existing shingles, which lacked the necessary adhesive to hold the shingles in place under high wind conditions. I cannot overstate how ill-advised it would be to hire this company to install a roof. I'm disgusted at my poor judgment in hiring J&B Roofing to do the job. Hopefully, with the benefit of hearing about my experience, you won't make the same mistake.

So, I began my hunt for a roofing company. I ended up phoning about eight or so firms. I got their contact information from the Better Business Bureau because I was nervous about dealing with a contractor. Some of them said they were too busy to take on my small job, others didn't even bother calling me back. Two actually came over to look at the job and make a quote. The very first one was Himalaya. The sales person was young and personable and very straight forward about the job. He didn't just rattle off a sales pitch but explained clearly and patiently the work his company would do. The very next day he emailed me a quote. In fact, every time I needed to speak with him, or get more information, he responded promptly and explained everything in full. We eventually signed with Himalaya, and are very glad we did. The workers showed up early in the morning of the day they were due to start and within a short amount of time had the old roof off and the new one on. Most of the work was done the first day, but they sent the crew back for part of a second day to finish up and clean up. The cleanup was meticulous. They left no sign their work other than a solid, professionally installed roof. The final invoice matched the salesman's initial quote virtually to the penny. I am so pleased that I used this firm and would use them again without hesitation, but since I have only one roof, I'm passing this information on to you.
