I was amazed at how long the people hung out after the service just to talk and get to know each other. The atmosphere was very low pressure and relaxed. This Church has a large staff of pastors and administrative help. Thus a large and robust outreach programs. So larger in fact the church has a huge international outreach mission. They have a ministry for what seems like everything. The music I heard that night was upbeat and the songs came from HillSong. The two singers were extremely talented the gentlemen playing the guitar did a great job and we found out that he was the pastor's son. The lady singer is a graduate from Berkeley and his worship leader a different church. She has a really nice voice. I have to give a special shout out to the man who was in the back just beating a box yes a box. This man made the box sound like a drum. It's was amazing to see and hear. I went up to him after services to let him know I was shocked to see him just beat a box and other people that were around heard me and were also just shocked. It was a site to see. The message was on giving God Thanks in everything we do. In everything we do don't worry as it won't help. The only thing that we can do is Pray and give God his Thanks. The lady who gave the message was a reverend so that is really cool. She also gave the message in a very easy way to put into our daily life. She for some reason only give summons 3/4 times a year. She should be doing it a lot more as she good at it. I have been here a few times before and will look forward to coming back at some point. The seats are very comfortable. They also have a child center for the kids. They also give you a cool welcome gift. Because it a large church the regulars/ushers will need to do a better job welcoming newbies. They also open alter prayer and only do Communion once a month. The huge plus is that they have a late Sunday service. It starts at 6:30

Associate Pastor Jason is wonderful and speaks with passion. The live worship music is current and there is a revolving group within which offers a different sound weekly. Church websites all look the same: We believe that Jesus is the Son of God...obviously. We teach the Bible...of course you do. I needed information from people who have attended the church to really get a feel for it. We visited on Easter Sunday in 2014, after a few months of church searching, and we didn't need to try any other churches after that. A quick synopsis of the churches we tried before I launch into how SH is different. We tried 4 churches before StoryHeights, and 3 of the 4 we visited twice to give them a fair shot. These churches fell into 1 of 2 categories. 1) The people were friendly, but the church was spiritless (they sang about the joy of the Lord, but no one was smiling). 2) The Spirit was moving through the church, but no one beyond the front door greeter spoke to us. SH hit the perfect combination: Spirit-filled and friendly. Everyone in the church was excited to be there, to be worshipping, to be learning, and to be in fellowship. Everyone was so friendly, too! It wasn't just "Hi, what's your name? Glad you're here." They genuinely want to know about us, what brought us to the area, where we were from... And then each person introduced us to another person, trying to connect us with someone in a similar line of work or from the same part of the county. We felt quite at home! Some of my other favorite things about StoryHeights: --The kids program is fantastic. Our girls love going to church on Sunday (any day of the week we'll take them, really), and we never have to worry that they are well cared for. --The pastors know their stuff, but they don't take themselves to seriously. The sermons are funny and applicable, but they don't water down the Message. They also make a point to truly know everyone in the church. --Whether you show up in blue jeans and a t-shirt or a dress and heels, you're more than welcome. StoryHeights loves everybody, and we love you just the way you are. --There's something for everyone. Whatever your thing is, there's an activity or a group for you. I'm a special educator, so our annual Special Needs Easter Egg Hunt is the perfect way for me to combine two really important areas of my life. My husband thrives on fellowship, so meeting with a Grow Group each week really fuels him. I hope that someone who reads this review finds it helpful. I encourage you to give SH a try. I'm confident that you'll feel at home, too.

Everything is directly from the Bible. The elders are all Bible centered and want to truly serve the Lord. The parishioners are very friendly and my experience with them is that they are truly dedicated to Jesus Christ. I was attending a mega church prior to joining Hope and I consider myself fortunate to find Hope Christian Church. I am growing spiritually and I have found opportunity to serve the Lord here.

I saw a couple reviews that mentioned the church's Southern Baptist Convention roots and just…read morewanted to speak to that. I understand the resistance, truly I do. The past year that I have been in Boston has involved a lot of researching denominations and trying to understand them and the SBC certainly is a hard one to grapple with for many. But no matter how many times I've ventured elsewhere, I *always* come back to Hope Fellowship. Mostly, that is because I'm convinced that Hope Fellowship is led by godly, prayerful people and that the Spirit is bearing fruit here. Again, trust me, I get the doctrinal disputes and I struggle with the SBC on certain issues. At Hope, the leadership doesn't shy from hard topics but it also doesn't give black-and-white, pre-scripted answers; nor does it give wishy-washy, ungrounded ones. I've only ever seen Hope leadership tackle highly sensitive subjects in a nuanced, thoughtful, and humble way. Even if you don't agree 100%, you know you can share your perspective with leadership and be heard and loved. Furthermore, personally, I've found that this church has a refreshing way of incorporating confession and also rejoicing in God's mercy. During each service we have a call-and-response of a Psalm and then a prayer of confession and then a passage reminding us of how we have been redeemed from that sin. It's so balanced and thoughtful and, to me, really models what we see throughout Acts as people come to faith--a rhythm of repentance and joyfully accepting God's grace. If you are looking for a church that does not shy from tough questions and that will continually extend the love of Christ to you and motivate you to do the same for others, this place does that.
