I have a friend who fell on financial hard times because of a job loss. Pride forced her to part…read morewith a family heirloom. Unfortunately she took it to the "reputable" jeweler instead of a Pawn Shop. Upon hearing about it, I called this greedy store owner and asked if I could repurchase this item at a reasonable markup. My friend had tears rolling down her face when she told me about it. Not only would he not consider a reasonable amount, he marked it up 500% and said he had to pay taxes on it. The Mob would have been nicer. What a Greedy CROOK!!!

I used McCormicks for years as did my family before me. My husband requested McCormick's to create…read morea custom engagement ring for me that was poorly executed & very long in the making. During this process they broke his grandmothers diamond, which they replaced, but the sentiment wasn't the same. They promised my husband 4 times that it would be complete by this date, then that date, etc. - each time, the ring was not complete. After a long process and another promised date, my husband went to get the ring. It wasn't finished & so he took it as it was - he just wanted to propose to me. They promised to fix it up later if he brought it back in. We brought it back in - pointed out dents, bumps in the gold, inconsistencies, gold covering up the stones. We decided to prong set the stones to fix the bulky looking issues. I was promised it would be done in a week. I called a week later to see if it was ready (surprise!), it needed another week. I was just glad to get it in time for the wedding. Recently I noticed a prong sticking up on one of the rubies. We decided to take it to another jeweler this time. This jeweler was shocked about the quality of work that we received. He said he could bend the prong back over, but that wasn't going to fix the problem. The prongs were cut too short & the work was inconsistent, even that one side of the ring was worse off than the other. He said we would have to reset all 6 of the rubies to keep them from falling out. Also what's funny is that this jeweler saw the original design that my husband designed - the one that McCormick's said they couldn't do and he said he could do it. Now we are looking at having to pay more on this ring - which looks nothing like what my husband originally designed - to keep the rubies from falling out. Also, when I called and spoke to Bruce, the manager, he was very rude and interrupted me, and told me that "they put more money into that ring then we paid for it!" Well, that's unfortunately what happens when people spend their working hours crafting bad work and selling shoddy work in bad faith. My family has used McCormick's for a long time. We are all very disappointed.
