Absolutely unacceptable and incredibly unprofessional.
Ms. Hill, owner of All in One Home Care, was hired to care for a woman in her 80s with advancing dementia. She knew the circumstances and the level of care required BEFORE accepting the job. She specifically represented that she was experienced, qualified, and capable of caring for dementia patients.
Apparently, those assurances meant very little.
After providing care for ONE WEEK, Ms. Hill waited until Sunday night--the night before she was expected to return for her second week--to send an EMAIL saying she was quitting. No phone call. No conversation. No reasonable notice. She simply left the family scrambling at the last possible minute to find care for a vulnerable elderly woman.
Even more unbelievable, All in One Home Care's OWN CONTRACT states that seven days' notice will be provided when terminating services. Yet when it came time for the owner herself to honor that provision, she gave essentially none.
This isn't cancelling a housekeeping appointment or deciding you no longer want a client. This is ELDER CARE. Families arrange their lives and work schedules around the expectation that the professional they hired will actually show up and honor their commitments. Walking away the night before you are scheduled to provide care can create an enormous hardship for a family.
If you are considering trusting All in One Home Care with an elderly parent or loved one, I would think very carefully about whether you are willing to risk receiving a Sunday-night email telling you that you no longer have a caregiver the next morning.
A contract and promises about experience and reliability aren't worth much when the person making them doesn't honor them.
Based on this experience, I would NEVER trust this company with the care of someone I love. read more
