We enrolled our almost 4 year old at this art studio. We were reassured by the owners, Alla and Greg, upon meeting our child and going through the first class, that she/Alla would be able to guide her. Do not enroll your child here, unless your child responds to "do this, don't do this, that's bad" and doesn't mind drawing while Alla rants and argues about how tired she is, how she hasn't had any rest or eaten, how parents have not been responsible about payments etc. This all goes on while the class is going on in front of the children. Alla does not give age appropriate or temperment appropriate directions to the children. My sense is that a child's enthusiasm for art could be squashed with this kind of "instruction".
We finished 8 classes because they were paid for and were not cheap (about $30/class). We also wanted to teach our child how to cope with bully teachers and to not quit. For the last 4 lessons, I dreaded taking her to class and almost quit myself. It seems to me that her husband has a much better temperment, but I rarely saw him in there helping. He was usually hanging outside their place talking with a friend/relative (?). Our kid came out of this okay, but a child could really be mentally affected by her "teaching method". read more
