I had money stolen from me in class with no consequences. New students were allowed to dictate fates of students based on their incoming views. Several students were held back due to hearsay. Parents were very upset their children were delayed in graduation. I feel this school is not consistent in how things are operated.

I don't not recommend putting ur money into this school or going here!!!! There so unprofessional and once they decide they don't like u they will find something to keep coming for u and make u feel uncomfortable!!!

I had one of the most unprofessional experiences of my life at this school -- specifically due to…read moreNancy Lopez. I scheduled an appointment to get my hair braided. I arranged childcare and missed work for this appointment. When I arrived, the front desk staff (not the person who booked me) realized there had been no communication about needing to wash and blow-dry my hair before braiding. I explained that Nancy had never informed me of this, and thankfully the front desk kindly honored the original quoted price. After my hair was washed and blow-dried by Christina, we were about to start braiding when Nancy stormed in and abruptly demanded that the service stop until I paid extra for the wash and blow dry. She was loud, rude, and dismissive -- even putting her hand in my face when I tried to explain the miscommunication. She told me not to speak because she was "talking to her student, not me." She then touched my hair and began making discriminatory comments about its length and thickness, saying that it would "cost more" but refusing to give me an exact price. Instead of resolving the issue, she escalated it, argued, and ultimately instructed the student to stop the service entirely. When I asked for her supervisor, she claimed she was the boss and the supervisor, blocking any accountability -- until I insisted and was finally able to speak to the actual administrator, who was kind and understanding. This unnecessary conflict wasted 25 minutes of my appointment, leaving the students pressed for time and forcing my service to be cut down to 2 braids instead of the 4 I had booked. I want to be clear: the students and instructors were professional, kind, and compassionate throughout this. The only problem was Nancy Lopez. Her behavior was unprofessional, hostile, and completely unacceptable in an educational or customer-facing environment. I will be reporting her to the board for her conduct. If you book services here, please know the students are talented and respectful, but the administration -- at least under Nancy Lopez -- is another story.

If you're a fan of the ASMR where the girl in class is playing with your hair or doing your nails -…read morecoming here for your beauty needs is the best! I had SO MUCH FUN. It was like being back in school and your best friend is trying some stuff out on you for funsies. Everyone was chatty and sweet and having a blast. I really needed that energy. I've never taken time to write a not-so-great review on a business before, but unfortunately this…read moreexperience calls for it. I had very reasonable expectations going into Monarch for a haircut/bleach and tone. I've gone to beauty schools for services before, and understand the nature of it as well as the risks. But I've never left one completely dissatisfied. Here's the thing, though- The student did maybe 10% of my cut. The instructor did the remaining 90% And not only did she ignore what I asked for, she botched what she gave me. The photo I showed her is far from the cut I received. It is SO much shorter, the layers are very rough, blunt, and uneven, and the shortest layer is literally unstylable. I explained that I needed enough length to curl daily. I was far more after a little volume and hair health than a full on transformative haircut. If the student had done this, though I'd obviously still be upset about the outcome, I feel it'd have been excusable, and would have understood. I wouldn't be writing this review. But there is no reason whatsoever that a licensed cosmetology instructor should have been so very careless in this situation. I felt there was zero caution exercised, and it was just immediate chopping off major length, no work up to it. So it was too late pretty much instantly. And even the student was visibly jarred upon watching. I voiced that she cut it way too short, and she told me that she left far more length than my photo showed, which frankly felt insulting because it just simply isn't true and anyone with eyes could see that. Not to mention that later on in the appt when her student asked her how much longer she should leave my bleach in after checking me, she didn't even look and said "her hair will tell you." I understand the sentiment, but that's not teaching. That's a disservice to her students whom are paying top dollar to be there. I'm not going to name the student, as she did a very good job on my bleach/tone, and I don't want her name to be associated with a 1-star review. The instructors name was Mrs. Ramirez, who I've come to understand is head cosmotology instructor. It's very unfortunate, because now I'm in a tough spot trying to find a stylist whom can install extensions ASAP as I cannot go to work like this. So I'm going to be out several hundreds of dollars, and several hours of my day (which I have to take off work for) I'm not sure how the other instructors operate, so I can't say to stay away from this place entirely, but I would definitely discourage having Mrs. Ramirez oversee/participate in your services. Her approach is far too lackadasical.
