Jay gave us some good history, local stories, a bit of politics, a tour of his property (with avacado and papaya trees, chayotes and flowers galore) and some sites probably not on every other tour like sugar mill ruins. MacArthur Park was a good spot too. Lunch was comfortable and delicious - a spot with great salads and sandwiches. He recommended some great beaches and restaurants too. All in all we had a great day. We will be back and are planning to hire Jay again; and to take his advice on staying a week. We knew we wanted to hike and surf, but had no clue as to where to go or how to even go about finding these so called hidden spots. We were referred to Jeffrey from a friend and right away he was so nice and friendly. He asked some great detailed questions to get to know us and find out exactly what we had in mind. The first day Jeffrey took us surfing and taught us how to "read" the ocean and now we know how the waves work and the physics behind the waves. Rather than just pushing us into the waves so we could try to stand up/fall down/paddle out and try it all over again, Jeffrey really taught us the fundamentals of surfing so we knew what we were trying to do. It was really amazing to learn from such a veteran surfer with so much experience. My husband was able to stand up and took to it immediately, I needed a little extra help. We also went snorkeling and learned about all the native fish, coral, and even saw an eel. We met him early in the morning the next day at a local coffee shop - which we never would have found without him - and the food was amazing (Kalaheo Coffee Co.) and immediately we knew it was a great decision for Jeffrey to be our tour guide. He drove us in his vehicle up the mountain and we stopped at several different spots to see some amazing views of the island and the canyons and then we parked and began our hike. The hike was the perfect level for us to enjoy but be challenged. Jeffrey knew the name and history of every tree and flower and was soo knowledgeable. Additionally, Jeffrey imparted some great words of wisdom regarding life and helped us to really learn a lot about ourselves and surpassing the limits we had set for ourselves. Who knew we were not only going to see these great sights, but get a little "life coaching" as well! Jeffrey took us to so many great sites. We spent another day with him and his wife Hezar and couldn't believe the gorgeous places they took us in Kokee. We ate fresh baby strawberries and saw some beautiful views. We were both soo happy with our experience with Jeffrey. He really listened to us to design a completely custom experience tailored exactly to our needs and taught us so much about nature, hiking, the island of Kaua'i and so much more. Additionally, he was able to recommend some great secret beaches, restaurants, and some great stores. He has been living on the island for a long time and really knows all the great spots. If you are ever in Kaua'i - you must take a tour with him!

He also was reading texts while driving and even took a call on our time when we were paying by the hour. I'm sure he'll have a convenient response to this review, explaining his side, but save yourselves the headache people and find a different tour guide who doesn't pull over and stop for every flower and plant on the entire island.

Tour guides Kai and Lee were extremely knowledgeable of the history, geological explanations of the crater and native Hawaiian folklore. Amazing experience overall. My son said "best day of my life!"
