For my meal I had their house burger, which had bacon, egg, cheese, lettuce, and sauce. It was pretty gooey, kinda messy to eat. Large. It came with fries which were indistinguishable from the most average french fries on the island. I got through my small bottle of water quickly and requested a second from my server. She never brought that; she was visibly busy doing non-server tasks. I definitely felt like I didn't really have her attention. I later saw on my receipt that I was charged for that second bottle of water. I don't think that if I'd gone back and addressed that it would have gone well.

You'll also notice the familiar red & white Olá umbrellas in the small plaza; the kiosk there also serves food from the pastelaria. They also serve gelato, and they're open until midnight on some nights. You can also order tap beers and liquors at the kiosk, including several types of the locally-known Aguardente, a distilled spirit made from ?old? wine. I almost died getting half a glass down, but I'm sure it's a personal taste thing. We came here a couple times and although it wasn't our favorite pastelaria or hangout spot, we enjoyed a late evening refreshment at the outdoor tables in the plaza. It's highly recommended by locals so you may find it more remarkable than we did in summer 2017.

If you're in a rush then get some bread, cheese, and meat from a supermarket and enjoy homemade açores sandwiches at your hotel or at the marina. Service here was still attentive and quick compared to most places on the island. I highly recommend the steak sandwiches and the creme de maracujá (passion fruit ice cream).
