Just played there today- challenging course in great shape! It's not long- 5600 from the tips, par…read more70- but lots of undulation and blind/blind-ish shots to keep you guessing. The course also had a great pine smell, at least from where I was playing/searching most of the day. All sprinkler heads I saw (not many, see above) were yardage markers, which always helps. It's "semi-private", which means outside of high season (July 1-Aug 31), any duffer (e.g. me, maybe you) can walk on- $45 to walk, $50 to ride. Unless you want a workout, pay the $5 to ride, because it's pretty hilly. I also rented clubs- $25 and got some pretty new Titleist irons and woods (tees, ball marker and divot dig provided, have to buy balls separately). So I paid $76 to walk with clubs and a few balls- those of us coming from NYC or (I assume) Boston areas aren't going to find a better deal at home. The course wasn't crowded, I played alone, so I the round was probably about 3:40. Now, during high season, it's apparently a little different. For July and August, they told me non-members are permitted between 7-8 am and 12-1 pm, with a rate of $85 to walk, and presumably $90 to ride. But you're best to call them for specifics about times, prices, etc. Presumably the pace is slower once the crowds hit, but still, I wouldn't be upset paying $85-&90 for that course with the conditions I had. One other thing- I didn't know I'd be playing on this trip, so I didn't even have a collared golf shirt. They were cool with a decent tshirt, though I did feel underdressed, and it being semi-private, I recommend proper golf attire if you can plan for it.

If you are playing only 9 holes, the layout of the course makes it difficult (you end up 1.5 miles from the clubhouse and need to weave through the other holes with people hitting into you). The course is also very expensive compared to what I am used to. But if you are in Bar Harbor I would recommend playing this course!

Okay - Maine residents: pay attention!! Kebo is offering amazing deals for Maine Residents this…read moresummer. Apparently- in the past, it's only been on Saturday's, but given this year's unique circumstances, they are offering it 7 days a week. We went on a Thursday morning and paid only $75 per person for 18 holes with a cart!! Kebo is a very nice course - 8th oldest in the nation and number 4 (?) on time gold courses in Maine according to Gold Digest. I am not a "good" golfer by any means, but I had a great time here and even got par on one hole! The carts are equipped with GPS to let you know where you are in relation to the hole. There was a beverage cart that came around selling snacks and drinks (alcoholic and non). Warning - the 17th hole is a site to behold! Intimidating to say the least. Legend has it President Taft got a 22 on this hole. I escaped with a 13. So - I felt pretty good! Lol!

I did not want to only play there once so I stayed over at the Whitetail Inn and played a second time. Also I should mention that unlike so many courses the workers on their mowing machines would stop mowing when I was approaching till well after I hit! (Rarely done for LADIES). I know some would say it's a long way to go but believe me it is worth it!!! I should also mention it is equidistant to Orono and Bangor with an easy FAST turnpike drive ( 75 mph speed limit)....can't wait to go again!!!

Has 18 hole tees but not that kind of course. Play it in the mourning then again in evening, there's ur 18. Not too expensive one-off but it is really a semi private course. Again great fun and a place to try new shots while WALKING. Sneak a beer, or something, in your bag for the second tee.

Have played it since the 90s. The last year or so they've made some nice improvements. Greens are…read morenice and faster now. Fairways still might always require winter rules. Club house has changing room and bathrooms but no food. There is a soda/water vending machine. Pay by the honor system if no one is around. Wednesday nights around 5 (4 when the light gets shorter) is an open scramble. One fee ($25, I think) for all day. One steep hill on a par 4. Holes 4 and 5, both par 5s, crisscross to add to the excitement. Course is usually lightly played, good place to take a beginner. No carts so you'll have to carry or bring a pull cart (I think they have pull carts available).

Terry, the owner, is a great guy, very personable and easy to talk to. The staff that he hires are all likable and very helpful, ready to meet your needs. The Course is a small Par 3, but can be very challenging as it does have a few large par 4 holes as well. Terry has hired a great Golf Pro who is great at teaching the game of golf, making it fun to learn and play. I personally like coming here to the Creek, it is very affordable, the course is in constantly amazing shape all season, I can play alone or join up with others. I find it a challenging course to play on the Blues as the Tee boxes are nicely spaced. Like I mentioned before its not a huge 9 hole course but it is not a small one either, I can play the course in under 2 hrs on a good day. It is a great course for young ones, Seniors and beginner golfers, and for us that want to get out and golf but don't have the time. Don't take my word for it though, go out and check it out for yourself, When it opens up again of course :) PS. I would have given it a 5th star, if it had 9 more holes :) Cheers

Just for giggles, my husband and I went to play a round. We chose the Captains course. Lady who…read morechecked us in was bright and cheerful. A lovely welcoming. The course was cute and had all the fun stuff we expected to find from the pirates cove franchise. We went on a Friday morning about 30 minutes after they opened. A few groups were already playing. We moved a long at a good pace. Be aware that there are steps to climb up and down. I get around by cane and I didn't expect all the climbing.

The holes were challenging and fun but also allowed for an occasional hole in one. Water features, pirate ships, and pirate caves await you. It opens at 11am and there was a line when we arrived at 11:05am. Staff was friendly. It was a great stop.
