If you could take a single snapshot of Bath to forever remember it by, do so from Alexandra Park. It offers the single most captivating, magnificent, sweeping, view of the entire city.
The 11+ acre park, located at the top of Beechen Cliff, offers a variety of normal park-like things to do: you could bring a picnic, go for a stroll, walk your pup, lean against one of the many beautiful old trees and read a book, stretch out on their lawns, or enjoy the play area with your kiddos. But whatever you do: slow down, stop a minute, and take in that glorious panoramic of the city in her entirety.
You can make your way straight to the view itself by driving up Shakespeare Avenue from Wells Road (there's on-street parking and plenty of benches you can sit at), or take Jacob's Ladder (a very long, very steep flight of steps). Parking is free, admission is free, and so is the picture perfect (mental) postcard you'll take away too. read more
