I only come here for blood donations, and my last experience was the best. The nurse taking my blood walked me through the process and made me aware of when she was going to pinch me. I thought I would never be able to donate blood just because of the needles. However, I have been coming back consistently since my first time in July! Sorry Kader Gokale he is/was an extreme insult to the MedicaL PROFESSION. HIS LICENSE TO PRACTICE , should be reviewed and IMHO suspended from practice. Staff was another matter one was quite well a few times , the others curt and rude.We FIRED that sub-par practicioner.. Now having a refferal from the primary practice to go to Montvale. Calling was actually absurd. They require a cell phone? No calls back days still waiting too. Getting our insurance information was hard non-english speaking, rude, and curt. Arriving finally met with a M.D. , she gave us the presciption for takling 3 times a week and to the CVS on Chestnut Ridge Rd. , which BTW had no electric power for a few days but BTW we requested the one on Kinderkammack Rd. in Montvale. They knew the one on Chestnut Ridge Road had no Power . The Kinderkammack Road one I went in Person after no perscription.. they said.."that practice is the worst and they always get numerous complaints." Since CVS is a chain they at least have a computer DATA Base. We got the prescription, finally and it said Take Once a Day .. not like the Dr. said 3 times a week. he Doctor (M.D.) finally called at 8:00 am a few days later and left a voice mail, tryed calling her at that office which no number was left and no return call still.. Pee Pot Poor Practices.. With so many office locations one would think.., Customer Service is a must to trust. My humble advice is tell your Doctors about this disgrace ASAP. Do not go here. 5* for Dr Sandeep Kour, Endocrinologist @BergenMed To get it out of the way, I agree with many of the reviews about Bergen Med as an overall practice. Nearly impossible to get someone on the phone, you don't feel like a human - let alone a valued patient at the office which is incredibly dated in practice and presentation with no regard for patient privacy during the intake process. That said, as someone who has had to have at least 2x/year appointments with an endocrinologist for the past 15 years, Dr Kour is the best endocrinologist I have worked with. Prior to Dr Kour, I worked with an endocrinologist with a wall full of awards, an endocrinology-specific practice, and specialists in both NYC and London. Dr Kour is, hands-down, the most patient-focused physician I have worked with. I never feel rushed in my appointments and she never only looks at me as blood work numbers. In tandem with the qualitative data from my blood work, Dr Kour asks questions about my life, my lifestyle, how I'm feeling, what *I* think is working or not. Dr Kour has worked with me to figure out a protocol - of both medication and lifestyle - that has optimized my life. She has celebrated my successes with me and troubleshot when I haven't felt my best. Dr Kour has suggested options -- something I've rarely experienced with thyroid protocols -- and given me both relevant information and time to figure out if I want to try something. She is clearly passionate about people and endocrinology and I - and Bergen Med - are very lucky to have found her. read more

I use to feel that I was getting excellent care. But honestly I think they have gotten to big and the people that are coming here are the ones suffering. First you call to make appt no answer, you get answering machine, they never call back. The pharmacy calls for refills at least 4/5 times before they return ther call and when they do they are given the wrong information which results in you having to wait another 2 days before they get the correct prescription. I was liking the fact that all my doctors were under one roof. But I think its time to move on. read more

I have been a patient for more than 20 years. It is very frustrating how big and impersonal they have become. You cannot directly speak to anyone in the office. They have a central phone system that directs calls and it takes 3 or 4 days to return your call. Every time you call for a refill or to fill a form they charge Medicare as a visit. You are never able to talk to your doctor directly. They give you appointments 1year in advance and then change your appointment at the last moment. I don't recommend this practice unless you don't mind be treated as just a number. read more

I've always had a good experience. The reception area staff is helpful and courteous, the nurses and lab techs are kind and compassionate, and my two doctors there have always been a pleasure. During the height of COVID I was always able to get a telemed appointment right away. Now, in office visits have all the precautions in place to ensure your safety by protecting the patients as well as their team. I'm not sure about all the negative reviews- I've never had an issue. read more

Everyone complains about it - patients, office staff, nurses and everyone I have ever mentioned it to. Why in the world would you keep this outside company? Give me socialized healthcare in a heartbeat! This is factory/corporate healthcare. You are not a patient to be cared for and treated well, you are widget on their assembly line. Appointments have to be made months in advance (But socialized healthcare makes you wait to see a doctor.) You will spend an unreasonable amount of time on the phone with office staff who are rude and have no patience and are unwilling to accommodate working parents. After all that, they call days before your appointment to tell you your scheduled procedure has to be rescheduled because the doctor will be on vacation. DOES NOT MATTER that you made the appointment weeks, even months, in advance. Then they act like it's your fault and demand that you be more accommodating to them. read more

I have been a patient of this practice for at least 15 years...I have had a cough for 2 weeks (2 negative Covid tests) and they flat out refused to see me! They wanted me to pay for a telemedicine appointment- useless since it was necessary to listen to my lungs. Thankfully urgent care facilities are still open for business for sick people. I was diagnosed and prescribed medication - gee, how novel - doctors who see sick patients and prescribe medicine! I found Dr. Scott Lippe on the internet and we spent 5 minutes with him describing her symptoms and he said gastroparesis!!!!! Probably the worst primary care group I have come across. There is never direct access to your 'primary' care giver. They are very quick to push you to go to ER instead of taking a bit of extra time to talk thru concerns with patients. I will not name the primary GP because it is the practice and their business and patient practices which are extremely patient unfriendly. I wish people read the reviews before selecting this group for their care. The reviews are full of similar feedback. DO NOT DISREGARD AVERAGE 1-STAR REVIEW. Theres clearly a reason for this. I arrived for my appointment fifteen minutes before the scheduled time. Checked-in, sat down and waited. Twenty minutes past my appointment time, I approached the front office and ask "how late doctor was actually running". "There are 3 people in front of you. It will be at least another 45 minutes". Over an hour delay!! I spoke to other patients in the waiting room who had also been waiting a long time way past their appointment time which leads to believe wasting patients' time with such long delays is not unusual at this practice. Post Covid and maybe Meridian Health ownership this Medical office is more like "let me pick and choose who I will allow to come into the office to be seen by a health professional". Very cold and arrogant for a doctors office concern about health and welfare of their patient. I had already had a zoom call with my Doctor in October prescribe medication. Im current with all my vaccines. Last week I tried to make an appointment to come into the office due to wheezing and the receptionist was assuming or making accusations due to my wheezing and said I couldn't come into the office without two negative Covid Test. The arrogance of the power whomever the office manager passed on to them. I called my health insurance found another provider. I went to the new provider after work treated with concern for my health and professionalism. I had been going for my colonoscopies for the past 15 years with Dr. Anthony DeLillo and was very happy. As he asked me to call for my every 5 year procedure, that needed to be done in April/May 2021, I called his office in Emerson, NJ and after leaving multiple messages no staff member called me back. Very incompetent staff at this practice, so I had to find another practice to handle this procedure for me. I would not recommend Bergen Gastro any patients. It's a shame that I had to leave this practice because I was very happy with Dr. DeLillo previously but due to his incompetent he has lost my business. read more

Please read and LISTEN to the reviews posted here. The reviews are 100% spot on and I'm so glad I am not alone. The RUDEST phone/scheduling staff. They play games. In the last 6 months I had a provider just flat out miss an important scheduled Telehealth appointment and another cancel a procedure with less than a week's notice (yes, that procedure that you have to secure rides for and prep for in advance). They are the WORST example of corporate medicine. They ARE A FACTORY and will treat you horribly. There is no courtesy; no regard for patients as people. If you are able to even get an appointment, be prepared to have to schedule MONTHS in advance. Be prepared to wait. The call/scheduling staff need serious lessons in how to not be rude, condescending and training on how to BE DECENT on the phone with patients. I get the feeling that if you are rich, you might have a better experience. No sense that you are valued. NOT COMPASSIONATE care. I was completed disgusted with Bergen Medical Associates. First, just trying to get to talk to a human was exhausting!!! After three tries, I finally got a patient care representative, who put me on hold at least three times to try and find out if a urine sample could be brought in to be checked for a UTI. This seemed like a no brainer to me, since my mom is 91 years old, and very prone to UTI's. When the representative had no clear answer, she told me she would find out and call me back in 5 minutes. Over an hour later, I called back and went through the hold, hold, and hold some more routine. Finally, this representative said she could not approve a urine check since the doctor had left at 12:30. I was surprised since I know there are many doctors and physician assistants at this office. Well, the representative said someone should call us back the next day. Twenty-four hours later, a nurse called and said NO, we could not bring in the urine sample, since the only symptom was cloudy urine. I know loads of elderly people have cloudy urine, but my mom also has dementia, so we never know if she is having any other symptoms. After the shock of being denied a urine check, I called another office, and guess what, she had a UTI!!! In fact, a few days later she was hospitalized for three days for IV antibiotics!!! Needless to say, we will no longer be patients at Bergen Medical. We have found a new doctor who promises to check urine when we are concerned!!! BIGGER is isn't always better!!!! This practice has become terrible. My husband and I go to the one in Emerson, NJ. We were both terribly rushed by our respective doctors for our physicals. To the point where my husband had to stop the dr to say "You will listen to what I have to say now." My dr barely looks at me when we are meeting - she's just looking at her computer screen the entire time and speaking a million miles an hour in order to end our appointment. Been a patient of the practice for over 20 years as it went through various names changes. The level of service has been on a constant downward slope. And they cram as many patients they can into a day to maximize their profit with little regard for patient time. Every time they have another excuse for the long delays, we have a new computer system, it's flu season, etc. The doctors are caring and competent but the administrative side of this practice is just horrible. And then if someone miraculously does answer they are rude and EXTREMELY unprofessional. The one receptionist that answered asked ME for the fax number to the valley hospital, is that not your job? Why would i have that? Then she went on to tell me that she had numerous other phone calls and she was supposed to be in a meeting so she couldn't speak with me anymore, and this was over a very serious medical issue. I followed my primary care physician for decades, no matter where he went because I have always appreciated his thoughtful, caring manner and listening skills, but this rapidly-expanding practice has become way to bureaucratic, convoluted, and impersonal. Bergen Medical Associates was where I went to my first ever gynecologist, Dr. Meyer, when I was 16 - I have stayed there for the following 6 years, even as Dr. Meyer left, and followed to see Dr. Connolly. I have never had amazing experiences here - between extremely long wait times (I'm talking 2 hours in the room with no follow up), relatively cold doctor-patient interactions, and a general pressure to go on the hormonal birth control pill - it has been unsatisfactory at best. As a young girl with a single father, I was easily swayed at 16 when I was not getting a period to go on the birth control pill, and have had struggles ever since. I had previously thought this flaws were with my old doctor, but little changed after she left. To this day, I still have a wide breadth of hormonal issues, and when I inquire about non-hormonal birth control options, in an attempt to regulate my hormones naturally, along with raising concerns about possible hormonal disorders, I am generally rejected and my own personal research is completely ignored. Out of convenience and lack of time to find a new doctor (going to college in NC and relying on birth control for protection, with little time in NJ but to reup my prescription), I did keep coming to Bergen Medical for my yearly checks, until I recently moved to me new permanent residence in Washington D.C. As I am up for my yearly appointment, I had to find a doctor here, which was difficult to say the least - the fastest appointment I could get was a month after my prescription refills would end. After calling this office multiple times, talking to many (very, very kind) patient services individuals, I was told my doctor rejected my request and said I was required to come in. To a NJ doctor. When I no longer live in NJ. And have proof of a DC doctor. After a week of back-and-forth, dead Operator lines, messages left and unreturned, I finally got the emergency prescription refilled - 3 days later than I needed it. I find this entire situation ironic, considering this establishment is the one who insisted I go on the hormonal birth control pill 6 years ago, told me it would solve all of my problems but ONLY if I took it regimented, every day, at the same time, and never missed. I am extremely regimented about it - however, it is this SAME establishment that could not give me an emergency pill pack, that PREVENTED ME from following their instructions. As I'm sure I don't need to describe to them, but missing days of this pill can wreak havoc on your hormonal balance, along with leaving you sexually unprotected. As if I needed further proof, it is clear this establishment just wants my money as a patient and money from the pharmaceutical companies I am coerced into buying into, and cares very little for my physical and mental well-being. Thankfully, I have a new doctor in my new local, but I do suggest that if you are looking for a doctor and have any hormonal/period/birth control issues, stay away. read more

Also, we were charged for our ANNUAL appointment because I said i had a non-emergency ailment which is down right messed up. What type of doctors office does this? Also, went for the flu once and i was having a weird symptom where my body became numb due to a panic attack and the doctor said after 20 minutes while i was bursting in tears, "ummm you gotta get up soon because we can't be here all day". I made an urgent call to my pcp on a Monday after falling at home on the weekend. The office staff turned me away and said there were no available urgent appointments and they never offered an appt with another doctor in the practice. My doctor never called me back. I was obviously just a number on an assembly line of so called "medical treatment". I would not recommend this practice at all. They just dont care. read more
