Specialties
I draw animals, both characters and pets, as well as humans/humanoids.
My work gravitates more towards fantasy themes, and painting your character, or pet, in a way that reflects who they are in a way that will make you smile.
I'm growing more comfortable with drawing more animals out of my comfort zone, by applying what I know about studying anatomy. By using this knowledge, I've branched out into learning to draw equine, aquatic animals -- and more recently, humans!
History
Established in 2019.
My passion began when I was probably 6 years old, when I'd learn how to draw wolves from Youtube tutorials. I would doodle on paper for a few years, until I discovered Flipnote Hatena, an animation program for the DSi. I then began to learn animation at 9 years old, and continued to use the program for three years after the site shut down in 2013.
In 2016, I quit drawing for personal reasons. I didn't draw for two years, and focused on musical talents.
I dropped out of school in 2018, and took that time to look at other artists, and study the anatomy of the animals I loved to draw; I was soon inspired to take this knowledge, and apply it. A few months later, I started my Instagram, and reintroduced myself into the artist community-- this time, as a growing freelance artist.
Its been over two years since I gave myself that title. I've since graduated high school, on time. I'm still working hard to build my portfolio, and make this into a career for myself, one drawing at a time.
Meet the Business Owner: Alexa A.
Hello! My name's Alexa Alvarez, or JayWolfen, as I'm known from Instagram.
I'm a 20 year old freelance artist, living in Iowa, with 13 years of self-taught experience in digital art, and about 6 years in animation. I specialize in drawing fantasy themes, generally centered around animals.
I work full time from home, having graduated from Canyon Valley High School in 2020. I recently moved in with my boyfriend, Ben, of 5 years.
I currently use Procreate on my iPad to do my work.
I've enjoyed art for as long as I can remember. I'm very happy to have taken my passion to a more professional level as of 2019.
I tend to lean more towards fantasy themes and animals in my art, but do enjoy more realistic themes, and drawing humans, from time to time. My main goal as a freelance artist is to bring your character, pet, or self, into a light that reflects who they are, and to let the painting, well, 'paint' a story that can tell that in a way words can't.
Thank you for visiting my portfolio! If
