Cotteridge Photo company is managing to compete by offering good customer service and a range of additional services. The store has six floors including two cafes and multiple floors with toilets - Click and Collect (online orders) is conveniently on the ground floor in case you're in a hurry and don't want to navigate throughout the whole store, which can be a little awkward as this isn't something you'd expect to do from a book shop. The staff seemed disinterested which is a shame, and not too willing to help and with a book store as big as this one - it is something you'd often need to enhance the experience from book recommendations to finding a book if you already have one in mind - they do have writing on "recommended" books but unlike other stores these are newspaper quotes which every book seems to have which are easily found online or even on the book its-self once you pick it up - I mean come on, are the staff literate with a passion for books and customer service? PERSONALISATION. Other than the size of the store, it doesn't really stand out - the store seems to follow the newer and more modern layout Waterstones are slowly rolling out (sadly this hasn't arrived in my home town of Manchester yet!) 3* based on a great central location in Birmingham and huge size over multiple floors, the layout and slightly cramped nature of the ground floor and disinterested staff really is a shame because without it the store could even warrant a high four-star rating.

Anything you can think of you will find and if they dont stock it they will search to see if its at the New Street branch (the other large store) or order it in for you. There is a Costa Coffee on the first floor and the 4th floor has a large floor space dedicated to travel and the world. As you walk across to pay for your purchase you get a nice view of inside the Pavillions and as you take the glass elevator back down you get a whirl wind view of New Street :-)

The room for the wedding reception was elegant and the catering simple but classy. All the staff at the bar, and the serving staff were really friendly and polite. I have to say it probably brings out the best in them when you are accompanied by a 5 day old baby though!! One gripe - the toilet facilities. You would think that a complex of this sort would have baby changing facilities - but there were none in the one I used and none immediately apparent (or signposted). There are not many facilities for kids at all in fact - a small park area at the front - but nothing more. They used to have a soft play area which we used alot - but they got rid of it and built a new conference room - not helpful for me but I am guessing more profitable? We did not stay the night as we only live nearby - but have in the past and I found the rooms to be comfortable and on the larger side. Its not cheap - see website for current prices and availability. What the place has got to offer which is above and beyond your average hotel is the leisure facilities. There is a fantastic gym, sauna, 9 hole golf course and pitch and putt. I am told the driving range range is good and the prices are reasonable - especially if you block book. It is nice looking, all one story, and very large. It has a slightly conference-y feel, so perhaps avoid it if you want a more homey or invidual venue for your wedding. For conferences and corporate events in a classy venue, this would be perfect. I know a few corporate types who stay at Lea Marston when doing business in Birmingham, even though it's outside the city, for the great food and of course, the golf course. Unfortunately, they didn't have our date available, but it was still a pleasant experience. Buuuutttt...we still go to Lea Marston Golf Club every weekend! My husband is a natural at golf, though he hasn't had much experience at it. He persuaded me to brave the British weather once and try it, and it turns out it's a gas! Hubby and stepson have been to the full course, whilst I stick to the driving range. The range is open to all people, regardless of belonging to the club or not. It is a very economical way to practice your swing, with happy hour prices coming in at 40 balls for £1. It's a great way to relieve stress and have fun for a few hours for a fiver! Great for all ages, with very helpful staff.

When we told the manger that we had got engaged in our room he was very accommodating. We had one of the best meals we had had in a long time and service was impeccable. We had a few drinks in the public bar next door which was very homely and welcoming yet lively and we went to bed very happy and excited. The outdoor areas are excellent and well kept. Above all, I would recommend this hotel to anybody above any 'chain' hotel as the rooms are exceptional and the service is personal and attentive. My only problem is that they don't do weddings!

I live near the Village Hotel and now and then use the spa & fitness facilities. I have to say that…read morethis hotel has a nice atmosphere. Especially the big pool which you can use as a member is very nice and clean. The fitness facilities can be quite full - but as everywhere it depends on the time you go. The spinning courses are my personal tip... Jump on a bike and enjoy a cool workout in a dark music filled disco room. Spa treatments can be booked for an extra fee and are wonderful. The staff in all departments is very friendly. My only minus point is the high member fee of ca. £45 per month. Other than that a great place to go and a guaranteed sporty time!

You get a huge bedroom with large wardrobe, very comfy bed and full length mirror. You then get a kitchen/sitting room area. The kitchen has a microwave, fridge, stove, dishwasher and plates, utensils and cups are provided (they just ask that you tidy up after yourself). The sitting area has two sofas, a TV on the wall and a table with chairs. Bathroom is adequately sized and nice. It felt like I'd got a new flat! Staff were really friendly, they recommended restaurants nearby and also helped out when we ordered from deliveroo! The sofas turn into beds so it could room up to 4 people. I will definitely be using Stay city Aparthotels again :)

This gives a comfortable and pleasant ambience. The food was excellent. Roast duck and lamb, with appropriate trimmings were excellent - perfectly cooked (5 stars). Parsnip and chestnut soup was divine (5). The Christmans pudding tart was also excellent and a slightly different take on the usual Christmas pudding. That is a major credit to the bar and staff here, as finding a good martini is something I am constantly attempting but also being continually disappointed by, especially in this region of the UK. My party and I came here for dinner in the Christmas season while in Shrewsbury. This was one of my favorite dinners in the whole of the Midlands, if not the supreme winner overall. Though on the pricier side, everything to the last detail was expertly crafted and delicious. Also, the service was lovely and inside the restaurant comfortable and festive- we enjoyed sitting next to a wood fire! It stayed relatively quiet for the duration of our meal as well, which was nice. We had three different entrees: I enjoyed the sirloin of steak and the other members of my party had the duck breast and the lamb. I tried their dishes and every single thing was marvelous. Unfortunately, we didn't get too many photos as we were all busy chowing down! My steak was cooked perfectly, tender, and flavorful. Each accompaniment also boasted such lovely qualities. For dessert I enjoyed the bread pudding which was absolutely delectable. If in the area you simply must try this lovely establishment for an exquisite dinner.
