Alessio's seems somewhat out of place on the Kirkintilloch high street, but for me it's a very welcome sight. With a bright, inviting interior and plenty of seating it's a brilliant place to grab a coffee and some lunch with friends.
Having a bit of a niche in the area, I was surprised by how affordable the menu was, with a large breakfast and a towering hot chocolate costing not much more than a fiver. I'm yet to try any of the lunch options, but a quick browse of the menu has guaranteed that I'll be returning to give it a go!
The service was friendly, albeit a bit slow, but as I've only visited for leisurely catch ups it's never been an issue for me. I found the food to be great quality for the price and I challenge you to find a cup of coffee as good on Cowgate, although some of the staff seem a little bit unsure of what coffee is which. I expect this is just teething issues and I imagine will be rectified with time!
Overall I'm really impressed with Alessio's and glad to see something like this open so close to home. If the cafe had WiFi then I don't think I'd ever leave, it seems like a great place to get some work done when I can't quite face my office walls any more! read more
