This spa is part of the Catalonia Riviera Maya, but is open to the public and has a public entrance as well as an entrance from within the hotel. We visited the spa several times during our recent stay at the hotel, first for pedicures (gotta get those toes presentable for the pool!), and then for an afternoon relaxation and massage.
The pedicures were nice, but I felt a bit expensive for the service provided. It was $40 per person, which included a warm neck wrap, but not a massage chair or paraffin wrap, both things I'd consider fairly basic at the price point. The gal did a nice job, though - much nicer than many places I've been. The service does seem a bit inconsistent, as my daughter wasn't offered the neck wrap. I disliked the location of the pedicure chair, which was near the hair salon, where they were doing braids and beading on a toddler while I was trying to relax - not a huge deal, but maybe don't bill it as a "spa" pedicure.
We went back a couple of days later for massages. Massage service begins with a trip through their therapeutic waters, which are AMAZING. First stop is a sauna, then different pressure showers, a steam room, then a large pool with waterfalls and different pressures/styles of jets. It was heaven.
The massage I selected was the Maya massage, which is all about relaxation, and it was very relaxing indeed. Afterward, you can lounge about it your robe for a bit, with a cup of tea and some of the snacks they have set out for you. It's a nice bit of pampering, and given the all the elements, the price is actually a bargain. read more
