To get to the clothes you have to journey up the 'travelator', my daughter thinks this is the best bit! it's like a slanting walkway that takes you up to the mezzanine floor where the clothes are. The best part of Asda clothes is the value, t shirts and jeans, jumpers etc. Wardrobe essentials at great prices, typically you can get a pair of jeans from as little as £3! The childrens clothes are fantastic, hard wearing and value for money whilst still very much on trend! Back down the travelator to the dvd's, cd's, compter games as well as mobile phones, tv's dvd players and sometimes even computers and laptops! There's always a brilliant selection of electrical items at good prices and they even have a 'budget' range! Great for students (toaster for £3 anyone)? Asda's own range of food is great, worth a try. Definitely give the Tiger bread a try .. YUMMY

This place is an absolutely MASSIVE Asda!…read more This is a really big Asda store at Monks Cross York, including a huge clothing and jewellery range upstairs and everything else under the sun downstairs, including all the usual Asda counters such as hot food, fish, freshly made pizzas, delicatessan, indian & chinese take aways, meat and bakery. Asda is usually great for offers as well and the Welcomer at the front of the store usually announces what offers they currently have over the tannoy at regular intervals. There is a massive car park, petrol station (usually the cheapest in York), car wash, Pharmacy, Opticians and cafe. Also it is surrounded by a wide range of other shops on the Monks Cross shopping park.

The shop is well stocked and laid out with fresh counted for fish, meat, cheese and cakes. They have an excellent wine section with a specialist roaming around nearby :) As a regular I have come to know the people that work there so it makes the experience all the more enjoyable. The quick pay service and the free newspaper for myWaitrose members is an added bonus. I go shopping on my motorbike so it helps that I can pack my rucksack and saddle bags as I go rather than all at the end of my shop at the checkout. Enjoy :)

Morrisons 'market place' is a unique set out for a supermarket and you can find fresh fruit and veg along side a fish monger and butchers where just like the advert shows you, the staff will be more than happy to talk you through whatever cut of meat you require or even fillet your fish for you. There is also a bakery and rotisserie offering yummy treats such as pork pies and sausage rolls as well as hot roast chickens. Another good point worth mentioning about Morrisons is that they do from time to time do brilliant offers. It's worth looking out for them on the internet or in your local paper.

Being brand new it is also clean and specious, There is also a large car park with petrol station and car wash available. Petrol & Diesel is usually the cheapest in York as Morrison's always seem to be the first retailer to announce price changes. This store is also on the same site as a large Homebase store and Frankie & Benny's restaurant!

This is my first experience of and Aldi store, and I must say I'm hugely impressed!…read more We visited on the stores 'grand opening' and a lovely member of staff gave my daughter a balloon! brill - it kept her entertain so I could have a good nosy round. what I noticed first that some of the produce, washing up liquid for example was extreemly cheap, 60p I think, but it was in the same shape and style bottle as fairy liquid. The only thing different was the lable and that's what's great about Aldi, you're getting top brand stuff, perhaps with a different lable at rock bottem prices! Excellent! It's well worth having a good browse round as there're lots of bargains to be found.

Cracking new Aldi store at Monks Cross in York!…read more This place opened in November 2008 and is really good, a lot bigger than the other Aldi in York and in a great lcoation adjacent to one of Yorks biggest and best out of town shopping centres, Monks Cross. There is a huge array of food, drink and other items available from TVs to laptops! The only drawback is that that car park is a bit on the small side for a shop of this size!

This is the only big supermarket in town that I know of (apart from M&S but they don't sell everything I wanted.) There is no big Asda/Tesco/Morrisons in town though. It's a nice big Sainsburys and they sell everything I would need, lots of frozen food, fresh fruit and veg, tins, bakery, household cleaning, etc. It was busy when I went but they have lots of tills and self scanners so there was no queueing.

Sainsburys Monks Cross York is a large supermarket that was renovated a few years ago…read more Like most other supermarkets seem to, Sainsburys now do not only food but they have their own range of clothing, (TU). They also have for sale stationary, cd's, dvd's computer games and books. From time to time they also get great value electrical items such as telly's and DVD players, they don't always have them, but when they're in stock they're worth a look. The kids clothes are brilliant, inexpensive and good quality. The adults clothes are a bit hit and miss thought, but still worth a look. The food at sainsburys is much the same as other supermarkets as far as branded items go, but they do there own range of food which I've always found to be of a high quality and would recommend it, in particular there baked in store bread! Sainsburys cafe is worth a look too, meals ranging from salads, sandwiches and soups to fish/pie and chips. They also do a stonkingly good Breakfast and it's the perfect hangover cure!
