Aldi recently had a makeover and I like it a lot better. You will see produce as you walk in now instead of crackers and peanuts. This works better because it was very crowded where the produce was located before. The produce is usually fresh and most items are always available. The workers are always working hard to organize and restock the shelves, answer customers questions, and jumping on a register when the line starts to grow. The middle aisle which is called the aisle of shame has SO many different household and food items you never knew you needed. Each week they have new things. These items are only available for a limited time. Once they are gone, they are gone. You can find items for gifts, for your house, or for yourself! They have everything from candles to legos to ottomans. They have fresh meat and great frozen food. One of my favorite things is the different types of cheeses that are available. I also like that I am able to check myself out and bag my own groceries. The one thing that I think could use some improvement are the carts. A lot of them don't work and that means sometimes when it's busy they don't have any available. The prices at Aldi are affordable and cheaper than most grocery stores. read more

We're happy to update and upgrade our observations about Aldi in Torrington. The store is a bit smaller than a couple of other Aldi in this area, but it's got a pretty decent stock given its size and is kept very clean. The cashiers and staff seem to have gotten a bit more cheerful and involved than in recent years. But the big deal here remains the prices and the quality. Aldi prices are consistently lower than any other grocery we visit, whether for meat, produce, or drinks. We're fond of fresh fish, and the Norwegian and Atlantic salmon they sell here is seriously fresher and lower priced than anywhere else in our area. We frequently buy their cut fruit, potatoes and onions and paper products, all god quality and sold at a solid discount. They have added a lot of checkout stations for shoppers in a hurry. read more

I use curbside pick up. Only takes a few minutes for them to bring them out. So it's pretty efficient. I've never had an issue with a wrong item, but they have been out of stock on a few things on occasion. read more

I haven't been in Aldi's in Torrington in maybe a decade? I loved their check out allowing cashiers to sit like humans, but the store was a circle with like five items. I went in recently, and it's completely transformed! No wonder it's so busy! There's STUFF, delicious stuff, fun stuff, even practical stuff! Food, summer gear, flowers! I'm not sure I can depend on their inventory, but I could supply a party with their merchandise and have a fun menu. I am so excited to return, and glad to see the cashiers still get to be comfortable. read more

I placed an order with instacart. I have done this several times before and always the driver gas to call for me to guide them here. It's only 8 miles. On November 9, I placed an order, the customer service at insta cart called to verify the aggressive. The order was delivered to the wrong address, when I called about it I was put on hold for over 45 mminutes and told nothing could be done till tomorrow. NOTHING was able to be done as compensation for my total inconvenience. I would tell anyone DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. read more

If you're not familiar with Aldi, it's pretty simple: a basic selection of essential food items, plus an ever-changing assortment of specialty items. More importantly, because of their cost-saving measures (bag your own food, return your cart to get your 25 cents back, etc.), their prices are far below what you pay at other national chains. If you're looking for a particular brand of prepared food, you won't find it here, but you are likely to find the store-brand equivalent at a significant savings. The Torrington store is my go-to. It's clean, as well-stocked as any other, and staffed by nice, friendly people. read more

Always enjoy ourselves here, Pricing is very good- and morphs into fabulous on some things. They have a very eclectic mix of products- some known-brands, some off-brands, etc. We needed some Hawaiian Punch to donate to a men's shelter and they were close to fifty cents lower per gallon than Walmart. That's pretty amazing. We bought some cereal (rice chex for dirt cheap) and some snacks. The most amazing thing I saw there were frozen burritos for a jaw-dropping $0.35 each. I love Aldi but this store makes them look terrible! Their shelves are never fully stocked, their staff is very rude, and I have terrible luck finding any fruits and veggies that don't look like they have been sitting there for weeks. I hope they can straighten out their staff and make this places more inviting because I love shopping there. read more

This location is hit or miss, last time the gentleman that checked me out was so sweet. Today the young lady tore my head off because I thought I was supposed to step away to bag my groceries, and bring back the cart. I don't often bother with reviews, after all they are opinions and everyone is entitled to have one, as long as they are not hurtful. But I can't help responding to bill s. from litchfield who wants great customer service and cheap prices. I find this a sad example that people seem to think they are entitled to everything, rather than accept that usually life is about trade offs. Personally, I have always received help finding something when i needed it at Aldi's. And the cashiers may not always smile, but they are incredibly fast and efficient.....a fact people in a hurry likely appreciate. I like Aldi's. I want it to succeed. However your store in Torrington, CT is going to destroy my loyalty. The shelves are sometimes big slices of not much product. You run into the same product in 2 or more places. The sorting for display is not coherent . Then to cap it off I stopped in last Tuesday for some tomatoes and cucumbers and the produce department had none nor did it have much of any fresh products. I was told there hadn't been any delivered. I have had experience with other Aldi's from 3 years in Florida and the one in New Milford, CT and they are clean and bright and well stocked. Please do something to improve the overall look of this store. I sing Aldi's virtues to all my friends and I don't want them to avoid it after one brief visit. read more

The newly renovated Aldi's store is our favorite place to shop for food. The meats are fresh, the produce is good, and you can't beat the prices on dairy. Compared to the other chains like Stop & Shop, we end up spending about half and get everything we need. Worth a trip and a visit, you'll save $$$ and get good groceries. My best buys are milk, butter, dairy, fresh chopped meat, chicken, pork chops and sliced meats. Also, we get our onions, potatoes and salad fixings. They have good frozen food selections and everything you need for cleaning. We get our dish detergent and other like items for a lot less. GO THERE, you'll see! read more

I have always liked the Aldi's store in Torrington, CT but I have to say, ever since it has expanded, it's gone downhill. Per my usual routine for years, I go to the store about once a week after work. Apparently a lot of other people do the same as there is usually a rush around 5:00 - 6:00PM. For some time now, the stock in the store is quite depleted just about every time I get there. Whatever produce is left is the undesirable picked over stock. Just like another customer wrote in their review, I was told that there hadn't been a delivery yet. This happens from time to time but not every week at the same store! They no longer carry certain products that I was accustomed to buying. The meat department is very disappointing as well. Not much to pick from compared to the selection they used to have. I haven't bought meat there in months! Also, there may be one or two pleasant employees but for the most part, they seem very unfriendly. I suggest that someone from upper management visit this store as it needs to vastly improve! I would like to continue shopping at this store but unless it greatly improves, I'm sorry to say that I will be going there less and less. read more

Knock-offs of every brand-name you can think of, at prices to match. If you're looking to pinch pennies, Aldi's is a must. If you want fresh, unprocessed food, recognizable brands, or even comforting Muzak, go elsewhere. read more

Sometimes the associates act in unprofessional manner ,like making voices .I don't know if it is happening just to me or to others as well.

Their food is very good especially when you consider the prices are the lowest in the city. We have had very few issues with food quality and their house brands often taste just as good as the original brand names. Produce was covered in mold and packaged meats are at the end of their shelf life, hence why everything is so cheap. Customer service is HORRIBLE. I desperately needed a lemon for a last minute recipe but unfortunately all the bagged lemons were moldy. There was one bag that was torn open and several lemons were missing as if someone had pocketed a few. I grabbed the one lemon that was without mold and offered to pay for it. The clerk ripped the lemon out of my hands, threw it in the cart behind her and stated that i needed to buy the whole bag, not just one. Even after I explained that the others were no good and was willing to pay the price of the whole bag, for the one lemon, she still denied me and with the biggest attitude, as if i was causing her grief.
