This place is a few notches up from a road side stand and is about a 40 minute drive from the KCI area, so for me, no big deal to get here. In the summer, they are a huge fireworks stand and veggie and fruit market. In the fall, they still offer late season veggies and have an amazing selection of pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, hay bales, etc for far better prices than in KC. I brought my friend here with me last week on our pumpkin run and she was amazed to get a cart load of pumpkins at the price she paid. Let's just say she found a huge white and green striped gourd weighing about 40 pounds...for $5.99. Yes, it's that amazing. Now, I happen to be a pumpkin freak and I love fall (I loooooooove pumpkins!) so digging through bins and bins overloaded with every pumpkin variety imaginable is a perfect morning for me! My haul included two HUGE mums (2 for $20), and 8 pumpkins!! (Cinderella, huge white, green, yellow/green stripe, peanut, etc in all shapes and sizes) for $48..total was a little over $73 for a literal trunk full. Fantastic you-pick farm!…read more I wanted to pick some sort of fruit while I was running around the countryside near Lexington. Yelp found Fahrmeier's Farm and a quick visit to their website informed me that blackberry season had just opened! Well who doesn't like blackberries? So off we go, ready to go pick some fruit on the way to the Battle of Lexington State Historic Park. Super friendly girl came out to greet us and escorted us to a row of blackberries that she said were especially delicious. She showed us how to pick them, twist not pull, and then off we were! These blackberries were the largest berries I have ever seen! A few were as long as my thumb. They were bursting with sweet juiciness. I couldn't help eating one or two during the picking process, but they all looked so good. I'm pretty sure I picked all of the best ones... lol... ok not really, but had a whole tray at the end of going down one row and back up the other side. All those berries cost less than $20 too! I think the total was like $17 and change for about 4-5 lbs at $3.99/lb. Everyone in the little market was friendly and they had a few things for sale there from their farm, fresh eggs, ginormous tomatoes (seriously, huge,like 3-4 lbs) and various other things including cold drinks. You end up with an open tray of berries in a bag that only covers half, so be careful driving with them. But I had the best time being a city gal in the country and seeing cute goats and birds flying around. I had some berries on my cereal this morning and omg so delicious - seriously the best I've ever had. My bf doesn't think I can eat all the ones I picked. Watch me.

And the service is great and they are there to help anyway they can. Has it been and I found this place just driving out in the country one day. They had a wonderful selection of tomatoes, corn, garlic, apples, dried herbs and more! We cooked an amazing meal with the tomatoes, garlic, basil and sage that we acquired here! The tomatoes are so flavorful and juicy! You can't find them like that in any store! They even have homemade jams and jelly and honey that we bought as gifts to take home with us! So many different flavors like jalapeno garlic jelly and tomato jelly and Raspberry and Rosemary jam! Make sure to carefully inspect the ripeness / color / texture / firmness of every object and open those packages of berries; there can be hidden mold on many products. There is a reason things are marked down so cheap; preparing a dinner for that evening - go for it. Stocking up for the week - think twice. My favorite bargains are when avocados are 4 / $1 or flats of bananas are $3. A great way to overindulge on some tasty guacamole (get the seasoning next door) or a cheap healthy treat for the office staff. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd visit daily and knock down my grocery bill by 75%.
