So, I rolled into town for a couple of weeks worth of work, got settled into my place where I'm staying and decided to make a grocery run. Quick search, up pops Aldi, not too far, good to go. I've never been to one before, probably won't go to another one. To get your shopping cart you have to put a quarter into the locking mechanism that locks the cart to the one on front of it, releasing it so you can shop. When you're done, you return it to the rack of carts, re-lock the mechanism, then take your quarter out and go home. The fun part was when the security guard comes out of the store to intercept you, telling you he'll "take the cart back inside for you". I instantly realized what he was doing and had watched him do it with a couple of other customers. Rather than just let you put the cart back and get your quarter, he's the nice guy taking your cart for you and keeping the quarter. The security guard is hustling customers for their grocery cart quarters at the Aldi! Pay the guy a little more huh?? I was too embarrassed for him to ask for my quarter back. read more
