There is one rule to ALDI...just have staff. The products speak for themselves. This one doesn't have the cardinal rule down. You can't get out quickly and they refuse to add self service machines but pay security to stand around and corral frustrated customers. Save yourself time do anything BUT come in here

Aldi at 46th / Market

This place definitely has some deals - I always leave having bought more than I intended!! The ambiance isn't all that stunning, it has the feel of an antiquated Schnucks, if you will, but it works for their minimalist approach. Aldi carries many items of their own brand, and then also many name-brand items that might not have sold so well in the traditional supermarkets. There are always surprise good deals/finds lurking around the shelves. Many things I have to avoid there, as in any store, the ding-dongs, burgers, shortening-laden gunk... But I love stocking up on my basics here, such as: nuts, raisins, (hormone free) eggs, organic soy milk, etc. The prices will beat your local store 9 times out of 10. Overall, it's worth the schlep to find the deals. Go Aldi!

I love this store, but it could be because I'm nostalgic about my years in Germany. I usually buy my meats at DiBrunos or Wholefoods Market, but I recently discovered Aldi on Market and 46st, right on the Septa stop, and decided to shop there so I can feel in Europe again. It's great! I bough fresh veggies and couple of stakes: a rib eye and NY steak.. I must say that the we're high quality meat, with a lot a marble and melting in your mouth amd for half the price of the other two places I mentioned.. Aldi rules!

Please turn this into a Trader Joes! It is really just as cheap, but with better products and selection.

I like this market, but paying for bags and having to bag my items up myself sucks. I still have to unbag them when I get home too. .

Since I found Aldi, I have stopped shopping at Fresh Grocer and Supreme, except occasionally for things Aldi doesn't carry.

Definitely a neighborhood store to help the community with some healthy food options potentially. I stuck out that the employee was wondering what I was doing at this venue until I said TooGoodToGo. I felt like I would've been a nuisance without this unexpected "carte blanche." In my goodies bag, I ended up with two cinnamon? Muffins, 1 or 2 corns, croissants, peach cups, carrots, mushrooms. Almost docked a star but the man was nice enough to take his time to pack me some goodies and then pointed me to the free table of things as well. A man on the side of the street was trying to say hi to me but I thought he was going to ask me for money. So I didn't reply. I knew that I was in a respectable neighborhood (Cobbs Creek) but I also know that I don't live here, I stick out, and it is Philadelphia proper. It felt awkward to look around inside the small store even though there were 10 min left. Everything seemed ready for closing up. I would've gotten there sooner but personal things came up. But I did still make it on time thankfully. I guess you could say, I really get around!

This is the only place I can purchase delicious Fried Assorted Mushrooms. I've searched and tried so many places and none are delicious like Arnett Woodall's at West Phillie Produce. Family he even has the best matched dipping sauce too. Thanks Arnett. I'll be back soon.

I am currently living in San Francisco so San Franciscans in Philly can think of Mom's Organic Market akin to Rainbow Grocery in SF. Mom's has a great variety of local and organic produce. Hard to find items that you would find in a good well stocked natural food store or cooperative like Mom's is. Staff is friendly. The layout of the store is a labyrinth that can be confusing like a rubik's cube too far gone yet with a little patience and perhaps asking security, staff, or one of the regulars they can help you get your learning curve to navigate the store of organic natural food product heaven. Within Mom's is the Naked Lunch vegan restaurant which I will return to have a bite there as it looks interesting. I am a proud graduate of the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University in Boulder, CO where I received the William S. Burroughs scholarship. I did my thesis on William S. Burroughs and William S. Burroughs wrote Naked Lunch aka the cut up novel for which this restaurant is named. Since I was in Philly two weeks I was mixing up dining out at the wonderful vegan foodie scene in Philly along with cooking at my homestay. For cooking at my homestay at Mom's I picked up the following: Soymilk Local and organic blueberries Bananas Garnet jewel sweet potatoes Limes Avocados Organic granny smith apples Red cabbage Ginger root Sweet yellow onion I am pretty sure all the produce was organic. Mom's has been family owned and operated since 1987. Great bulk bin items. Great produce. In a word, great. Mom's sets the bar high for a natural food store. They are like the special forces of natural food stores which is quite alright in my book. Each day Mom's states customers prevent 9,233 grocery bags from being used. Mom's has banned over 250 ingredients from our products storewide. Mom's has chosen to print their receipts on BPA and BPS free paper products for the safety of it's community and the environment. In a word...Yes!
