Great store. It's a pack your groceries yourself. Print out a list of what you want before you go. Tem bee it's very basic. They don't have a lot of brands. They have potatoes. But they aren't going to have Yukon Idaho small red. Small mixed. Baking.... you will have one or two choices. Some stuff is cheaper. Milk especially. But other stuff is the same. So if you want a long large detailed list you will have to go to other places too If you go online and search you can find how to make a month of dishes from Aldo's on a budget. So a good place to consider. You have to pay .25 for cart unless you see someone coming out. A lot of people simply trade off so you don't have to use a quarter. Oh, Aldi...I'm so happy to see you here in Lawton! Aldi is a German discount grocery chain. Lots of off brand/store brand items, and overstock of name brand goods as well. The shelves are populated with enough for a grab and go shopping trip, but you won't want to rely on them for all of your needs. They also carry a few household items, but no steady inventory of any particular items, so if you see something interesting, grab it and hope they have it again next time. Today they had mangos for 29 cents a piece, and pineapples for only one dollar. I bought mangos for breakfast tomorrow, and will do my best to get back to Aldi before the pineapples are pau (gone) I'm assuming that the produce was so well priced because of the grand opening this week, but am hoping that the pricing is a trend. If so, they will see me there a few times a week. One thing to note- as this is a European store, they have a paid bag policy. They encourage you to bring your own bag, but have reusable heavy duty plastic bags for sale at only 10 cents each. My mother has used a few of their bags for years. They also chain their carts together, and you will need to put a quarter in the handle to use a cart. Your quarter will be released when you lock the cart at the end. Why not 5 stars? Because the carts can only be returned at the entrance to the store. I'm all for having the carts locked together, as it does actually cut costs in the long run. (Stolen carts cost money, and the customers eventually get to pay that bill!) There should, however, be a cart return option at the bottom of the sloped parking lot. If I was wrangling a cart, a kid, and the promise of a quarter, I might choose to forgo the quarter instead of pushing the cart all the way back to the top of the (gentle) hill. read more

How can Walmart afford to keep its lights on? If you're like me, you've got friends who talk about Aldi like it's some kind of religion. They'll never shop for groceries anywhere else. They'd drive an extra 5 miles just to go to Aldi over another grocery store that's closer to home. They've got a designated spot in the wallet for THE Aldi's quarter. I used to be a non believer, but now I'm here to share the good news. I can not, in good conscience, say it's financially healthy to shop elsewhere. I am a penny pincher to the max, especially when it comes to cyclical purchases. I've been buying the same list groceries every 2 weeks for nearly 4 years. My bill was, on average, $350 dollars. Since I started shopping at Aldi, it's been under $200 consistently and I can't imagine going back. Fresh fruits and vegetables, fluffy bread, and even shelf food that compares (or tastes better!) than the big brands charging twice the price. In addition to the food, they have baby supplies, light furniture, a huge frozen food and meat section, deli selections, and more. I highly recommend Aldi. Try it just once and you'll become a believer. read more

Some of the prices are decent but the attitude of all the employees is HORRIBLE. I asked the cashier the price difference between the bags they sold and I had to ask her THREE TIMES and got very rude reply. So much unneeded attitude without any common courtesy! I WONT be returning I'd rather pay $1 more for some products than to be treated poorly while giving nothing but respect and asking a question. read more

I've shopped at Aldi is Europe and Canada before, so I was happy to see one open here in Lawton. They are a very basic grocery store, but really you could get just about everything you need here. If you're on a budget, this place has some awesome buys!! The produce is well priced and was surprised at the selection--all pretty fresh too. I also love that they sell the random beauty products...for example, $4.00 anti-wrinkle cream! Hey, I may just give it a try! Pros: 1) Fresh produce great prices, specials & well stocked 2) Fresh & frozen meats/seafood/veggies 3) Fresh bread & baked goodies 4) Take & Bake Pizza for $5.99 5) Gourmet style European Chocolates 6) Household items & housewares at low prices Cons: 1) You need to remember to bring your own bag or pay $.10 cents 2) Had to figure out how to unlock the grocery cart...$.25 cents (but you'll get it back when you return the cart). I had a family member tell me to check this place out next time I was in Lawton, so I did. I had never been to a store like this, and when I first walked in I noticed the prices. Good prices, so I start loading up my arms. Quickly got to the point that I couldn't carry anymore, so decided to call it a day. Hmm, no bags, no worries I'll carry it out. Lesson learned. So, the next time I come armed with my awesome Star Wars bags and a quarter for the cart. Woohoo, I did it right this time!! The products have been consistently good. I haven't had anything here that wasn't good. The store brand hummus (garlic) is pretty much my lunch now at work, and it is a good lunch. :) the cookies and snacks food have been very well-received by my family and friends, and the best part? I love their produce! I come to pick up avocados and miscellaneous produce items a few times a week. They'll have the avocados on sale for $0.39 each, but usually around $0.59 each, and they have varying specials on berries, pineapples, and etc. I also found a 2L bottle of Tamarind soda here, which I never expected to find in Oklahoma! Everything they have in stock is always changing, so it's best to shop with an open mind, and check the weekly ad online before you stop in. read more

I've yet to find anything that isn't close to or better than the name brands. I'm a single senior and my grocery bill is pretty close to the same every month. I'm saving at least 20% over walmart. You do have to sack your own stuff but I like this because it's much easier to unpack at home. read more

I don't understand the hype. Walked in, walked around and walked out. Not really a store for me. They seem to carry mostly off brand products. But it is good that you have to pay to use the cart and then get it back when your return it. Keeps the parking lots clean every store should do this . read more

I love the price of produce here! I always come in on Wednesdays to see what the new deal of the week is. And it didn't take me long to get used to bringing my own bags and a quarter for the shopping cart :) I even downloaded the app but I still like grabbing the next week's flyer as I'm walking out the store. read more

Excellent grocer. Set up very similar to the European stores and has prices that are competitive or better than any other grocers anywhere.

Pretty damn simple. Please support this place for what it offers in value. Went there on July 30 just to check it out and came back yesterday after confirming my initial thoughts by going to WalMart across the street before coming here again. Again very simple. Anytime I can get great quality strawberries at 99 cents per container versus what was $1.98 at WalMart makes you think. I understand the concept of loss-leaders etc. BUT...there are many other examples like this. This is not like a true WHOLE FOODS (the real kind in OKC). But for what it offers it is worth a look. You probably can get better prices for for niche items at Big Lots and even Dollar General. However, it sort of makes me pissed and pleased at the same time that WalMart has screwed everyone for a lot of prices before this type of competition has come in but pleased now that Lawton finally has some alternative and competition for WalMart. Others, must be thinking this as their parking lot was crammed yesterday. Interesting to see how this will pan out. Others may disagree, but that is my POV. I even called corporate for this region down in Denton, TX to tell them of my pleasure. Check it out. The quarter does NOT bother me at all - hell just make friends with someone who just parked...ask them if they have a quarter. If they do, give them the cart. This is the best place to start your grocery shopping. I can get in and out in 20 minutes because the store and staff are efficient. I love this store for real food and recipe basics. Great produce prices, but make sure you look at the product before it goes into your cart. read more
