I'm so glad that I've started going to Aldi because it is way cheaper than the Giant Eagle I used to frequent. I love Aldi for the wide range of products available including more and more organic products. I will say that the produce here is hit or miss. I bought apples here once without really looking at them and when I got home I noticed that all the apples in the bag were brown and looked bad. I was able to go back to return them even though I had already threw out the receipt. So I appreciated the great customer service and I was happy to have gotten new apples without paying for them again. I will say that I prefer the Rocky River location because at least the produce I've bought from there was fresher than the ones at this location. Side note -- This location is currently under renovations but the store is still open during renovations. I do not know exactly what they are doing during renovations but I heard that they are expanding the store. Let me start by saying that I have never been an Aldi fan. I simply never understood the hype or the store setup...until now. I've been enlightened! This remodeled location is easy to navigate with wide aisles and lots of space. Everything is stocked and organized. The prices are absurdly low, they truly can't be beat. The product model is basically a near-perfect dupe system. You'll have to do a double-take because the logos of these off-brand items are so close to what you'll find elsewhere for at least a 30% up-charge. I will say that the few times I've visited there is only one cashier working which can be pretty slow-moving. However, because the cashiers don't pack your bags it isn't too much of an issue. The parking lot here is convenient and accessible as well - definitely more so than the tight parking situation at Lucky's and the crowded setup near Giant Eagle. Each time I've been there has been a security guard so perhaps theft is an issue at this location. Better safe than sorry I'd reckon. Still a pleasant shopping experience overall. read more

It's a recently remodeled Aldi and every time I have been in, it has been clean and well stocked with a security person at the door. The prices for produce and milk, eggs and bread can't be beat. And now, they carry even more artisan styles of bread and cheese. They also have a large selection of beer and wine. Check out some food magazines for the lists of recommended Aldi wine to impress your guests without breaking the bank. If you haven't been to an Aldi, you'll need a quarter for a cart, that you get back when you return your cart. You also should bring reusable bags, or you will have to pay for plastic bags at the checkout. Be prepared to check out FAST! It's worth remembering the quarter for the cart to be able to pack your groceries at your own pace. read more

I have never used Aldi's delivery service and quite frankly I did not know what to expect. Having someone else shop for you is scary as you have no idea the quality they will choose. I have a chronic condition that limited me this weekend from leaving my house, however I needed groceries. Not only was everything fresh but I received everything I ordered within 40 minutes. Kyle P was very nice and delivered them right into the house. I was shocked at how quick the service was and the quality of the groceries. You know how it is at Aldi - hit or miss on all fronts. Either they're clean and well stocked or they're like a grocery store in Orlando as a hurricane bears down. This one is the former. Clean and pretty full of items (depending on when you hit it, they were 100% out of bread on a Tuesday) and has cheap wine (yay!). Of course you have to deal with the whole we-built-this-store-with-five-lanes-but-only-have-one-or-two-open thing but that's Aldi everywhere. My grocery shopping habits are so bipolar. Most of the food we get is through a local CSA called Fresh Fork. But for other essentials, Aldi's is awesome! This location is just OK, however--when you find a great one, you'll truly understand and appreciate Aldi. I've been to this one, MLK, Mentor, Painesville and the Steelyard locations. Overall, Mentor and Steelyard rule the roost. Like I said, essentials are ideal here. I love their: -laundry detergent/ softener -dish soap -kitchen sponges -anti-bacterial wipes -bottled waters -cleaning products And they now carry organic foods! You won't find a better tasting cottage cheese anywhere else--which I know sounds weird, but trust me. Also, try their: -organic greek yogurt -lowfat cheese slices -organic produce -canned items (tomatoes, etc.) For the people who think they're too good for Aldi or that they sell horse meat: 1) They found horsemeat in ONE frozen beef product that they no longer carry. This incident was because the supplier was being dishonest. Because of that, Aldi has checked and guaranteed all their meats. I bet a bunch of grocery chains around NEO sell the same product, just labeled differently. At least Aldi resolved the issue and made a change. I still get my meats sourced locally through my CSA, but when I'm in a pinch--I'll grab some here. I'm still alive and very healthy. 2) You probably shop Trader Joe's. Hahahahahaha! Best cheap burritos ever. PROS: -- cheap everything. A box of fake Cheez-Its for $1. A six-pack of good bagels for $1.29. Crazy, big-ass packs of ground beef for less than half of what you'd pay at Giant Ego. -- quick. I've never waited more than five minutes in line here. The cashiers (who get to sit down) are faster than Superman on laundry day. Yeah no I don't like this location. I needed a few organic items for my smoothies so I stopped at this one on my way home. I encountered 2 workers and only 1 was barely helpful. The one who checked us out didn't speak and she acted like she didn't even want to exist in life. Sad face... but anywhoo she rang us up and gave me my total in a monotone voice and then afterwards mumbled a have a nice day. My very first Aldi experience was in Germany, and I was boggled by the great prices and the idea that you have to pay to rent a cart. Now I go to the 117th Aldi, and though they don't have German/English books, they have pretty much everything you'd need. This Aldi has better inventory management than Euclid because the center-aisle (misc/household items) always seems to be "not too" picked over. Overall, this place is AMAZING. Cheap snacks, cheap food, cheap frozen items. I go here for all my parties and once a week for staples/groceries. Their frozen burgers and cheeses are especially hard to pass up! I've been shopping at Aldi since moving to Lakewood 7 years ago. Although I prefer the Rocky River location, the Lakewood one usually tickles me right there I itch. It's usually filled w the lower level of the social and economical ladder but it makes me appreciate how I grew up and where I came from. The supporting cast is usually quick and friendly. Items usually in stock and store mostly clean. Really can't stand people in the parking lot asking for money. I'm calling this "The Great Aldi Trek-A-Palooza 2013" I've decided to explore a variety of the various Aldi (already plural for Aldo?) in the area. Believe it or not, MOST of what I've purchased at Aldis has been top notch. For real. Most anything made in Germany is really great. Their chocolate is very high quality and inexpensive. They have delicious Lu type cookies (chocolate slab on a cookie) that are phenomenal. Produce is hit-or-miss, but asparagus and portobello mushrooms have been excellent. First up - the one closest to home. What I like: Well stocked Cashiers are top notch and fast I usually find what Im looking for Plenty of parking Clean What I dont like Parking lot can feel sketchy even in daylight Strange security officers who wander - ghost like - around the store. Having shopped at six or so Aldi stores, I stick with this, my hometown store. A big parking lot surrounds the building on two sides. Get your cart outside (for a 25-cent deposit) and head indoors. You'll find a montage of low-priced snack foods and food staples. Wonderful prices daily on milk (the 2nd best prices in town) and eggs. The wife and I LOVE their chicken salad -- not as good as Lake Road Market on Lake in RR, but only about half the price! The produce selection varies from big selections to scarcities, from bargain prices to just ordinary, and occasionally stuff that looks like it should have been tossed on a compost heap already. You will not find exotica in the produce arena, just the usual stuff -- carrots, celery, tomatoes, apples, berries, onions, etc. Bread prices are reasonable; tortilla prices moderate. Common cheeses are fairly inexpensive, but sometimes they'll be out of the sliced cheese you want. Go figure. Fast check-out lines (don't forget to bring your own bag, plan to buy some of the heavy-duty 10-cent plastic ones, or pick up small boxes to pack your own food in), clean rest rooms, friendly and courteous store staff -- that's okay. BUT.... You have to bag (or box) your own purchases and take them to your vehicle. Meat selections seem to be of good quality, but often they have too few to chose from. No coupons are accepted, and your payment must be by debit card or cash. Getting used to the store brands may take awhile, but I've found them to be very good. And that quarter you shelled out for the cart? You have to return the cart before you can get it back. And don't try to take the cart off the lot -- the wheels won't roll past their property (you are warned by signs) and possibly hell will freeze over or something. But overall, not a bad place to pick up staples. read more

Just left the store, usually go to Rocky River location. In the future I will make sure to go to Rocky River. This store was a mess, and very low on stock, whole areas of the refrigeration section were empty. Frozen foods were very low on product.
