I hadn't ever been to an Aldi before yesterday. I had heard it's kind of disgusting so even though it is very close to my house I hadn't set my foot in. Yesterday I was walking by and thought I should give it a try.
The super market is very messy. It looks quite dirty and the entrance looks old and not well kept. The people shopping there were a bit weird. A mix up between inner nørrebro and Christiania would kind of describe.
However I was happily surprised with the groceries. There is a large variety of chocolates, ice creams, chips and all the junk food. They also had some cheeses that are not easy to find everywhere and not a bad selection of vegetables/fruits. In general I found products that are not found in other super markets (like chocolate pillow cornflakes!) which would make me go back at some point.
Aldi could not become my favourite everyday super market, but it could be my getaway for more variety. Cause let's face it, super markets in Denmark have less variety than in most countries I have been. So secrets like this are good to know! read more
