Usually, I go to the Aldi on the north side of Schaumburg at Meacham and Algonquin Roads. I needed some things and was closer to this Aldi so went there. This is a larger Aldi than the one I frequent. It's laid out a little differently so I had some trouble finding a few things, but that was me, not Aldi's fault. They had everything I was looking for - they had ample stock. Like my experience at other Aldi's, their produce is generally good for a few days after you get it. If you need fresher produce that lasts longer than one or two days, you are probably better off getting it elsewhere. Other than the produce, Aldi is fine. They don't have the selection of big box grocers like Jewel (which I really don't like to shop at), but they have much of what we need. Aldi is really a fine choice for low prices. You do give up some service, for example, at the checkout lane, if you want a bag, you have to buy it. It took me some time to figure out Aldi's, but now I don't know how I ever lived without them. This location is clean, and the staff is friendly enough. They have the usual selection with great prices, and the mandatory Aisle of Shame. It's an adventure. read more

I love Aldis. Very small store, easy to find things, has a little section with random junk. My only complaint is that brand selection and different options are limited. I wish it had a more wider variety of different brands and foods, but honestly for the prices, it's worth it. Also, eco friendly with making you bring your own bags. 8/10 read more

I must say, they do a great job keeping their stores clean! Usually I see one person running around the entire store straightening, stocking and cashiering. This particular Aldi is pretty big and carries more variety than the smaller one in my neighborhood. I have only found a few things I like from Aldi, like nuts and dried fruits. They have eggs and milk for cheap when there's a sale. Be careful and read the labels so you know the ingredients in what you're buying. A lot of the stuff there has really high corn syrup content, which may lead to bad things...like obesity. Don't forget to bring your own grocery bag! read more

Guys it's exactly what you would expect in an updated Aldi's with just above average service. The prices are excellent, the selection can be touch and go, but that's how they keep prices down. They did discontinue some stuff I loved, but again, that's the compromise I make as a consumer to get LITERALLY 25% off my bill as opposed to Mariano's or Trader Joes. I guess for most price minded, but not obsessed folks splitting time between ALDI and Trader Joe's just down the street would be optimal. Their prepackaged salads are phenomenal and like 33% off others....also, try their prepared carnitas and Thai Chicken that are sold by the cheeses- those things rock. Their brand of almond milk is also great if you like a lower sugar content with a great taste. Cliffs: It's ALDI done really well, and prices are superb. read more

Life is full of surprises. In Aldi, apparently. I reallllly don't like to shop at Aldi. Like, ever. However, I swung by here last night because it was the only 'grocery' store on the way to a BBQ, and I needed a few things. This is the cleanest Aldi's I've ever seen. Everything was organized, clearly labeled, and just... clean. Even the bathrooms are pristine. And they sell almond milk! But that's not why I'm writing this review. I'm writing this review because of the amazingly sweet shoppers that made my day. An accumulation of events that afternoon left me in a rare, angry mood -- all I wanted to do was go home and drink a few beers (or punch a co-worker, but that wasn't really an option). But I had a BBQ to attend. I walked into Aldi, wandered around, and started picking up a few items, cradling them in my arms. As my load was starting to get a little heavy (I may have grabbed a few more things than expected...), an older man approached me and offered a small cardboard box for me to hold my things in. I asked him if he worked there; he didn't. I graciously accepted the box and put my things in it. Much better. And, wow! How nice! A few minutes later, the box was full and I was ready to check out. There was only one open register and the line was four people long, all with nearly full carts. Eek. I stood at the end of the line and the man in front of me turned around, saw my box, and offered for me to go in front of him. I thanked him and stepped forward. The woman that was then in front of me turned around, saw my small load, and also offered for me to go in front of her. Baffled, I accepted, thanked, and moved ahead in line. And THEN. Yes, you know what I'm going to say, right? The guy in front of me at that point turned around and offered for me to go in front of him and be the next person to check out (the lady in front of him was paying and about to leave)! And his stuff was already on the conveyer belt! Whaaaa!? I was shocked. And nearly wanted to cry. After such an aggravating afternoon, this small act of kindness from everyone in this little store made my day. I thanked them endlessly with a "Y'all made my day!!" and quickly paid for my items (the cashier was grumpy, but whatever). Cloud of anger? Gone. Faith in humanity? Restored. read more

I'm thinkin' Aldi may be the new Target: It went under the radar for years until the masses discovered what a gem they had been missing out on. When it comes time to grocery shop, I have a handful of regular spots. I choose Aldi when I need to be a little bit gentler to the ol' pocketbook. I am always amazed at how little I spend for how much I buy. Now let's chat about the inventory, shall we? I remember many moons ago when Aldi seemed to be the final resting spot for off-brand, highly processed food that was just not very appealing. Those days are gone! They now offer a plethora of more natural, even organic options. Just today, I bought the following organic options: milk, chicken broth, cereal, strawberries, blackberries, cherry tomatoes, and apples. Also, be sure to try their impressive specialty cheeses, artisan potato chips, biscotti, European chocolates, whole wheat pastas, puttanesca pasta sauce, beautiful floral bouquets and selection of affordable, but surprisingly good wine and beer. Oh! And don't forget about their housewares. They had beautiful wooden cutting boards today for $9.99 and my fave memory foam bathmat is from Aldi, too. It's also noteworthy that every time I've gone to this particular Aldi, I have encountered the kindest, best people - this goes for the employees and customers alike. The store is constantly filled with people who strike up friendly conversations, act courteously or smile at my kids. It just makes me feel so good! The only downside is that I can rarely get everything I need for the week at Aldi and I'm not a huge fan of their meat. read more

Spoiler alert: This Aldi sells alcohol!!! At first, I was not a big fan of Aldi. I had gone to one wwwwwwaaaaay back in the day, when I lived in Wheeling. I just felt like it didn't have a good selection and most of the food was junk food -chips, soda, cookies, etc. However, I did read a very interesting article on Aldi in the newspaper which caused me to give it a second chance. It explained that despite the economy, Aldi's business model is keeping it thriving in a tough market. Many of the things Aldi sells are actually brand name items disguised as an Aldi brand name. I have to say, you can't beat some of the deals -soap, body wash, and frozen products such as fish, chicken etc. The prices really can't be beat. Pretty bouquets of flowers for $4. **AND** this particular Aldi sells $4-$6 bottles of wines and 6-packs of beer. I picked up a few bottles and they were actually pretty good. Here's the bottom line: get to know the products at Aldi that you like. Then, when you need something, it's the "go-to" place. For me, it's always my "go to" place to buy party snacks. You can do a pretty great variety for like $30. Give it a try! read more

Reviewing Aldi is a little tough. I've been to several in my day and they're basically the same, the major differences have been the clientele that have influenced the experience. Depending on when you go (like many other stores) the shopping adventure quality may fluctuate. That said, I like to go when I know I'll have the most patience to handle a crowd, and if it's empty I'll have an optimal time. Aldi is good for inexpensive snacks, treats, essentials (i.e. sugar, seasonings, butter, etc.), breakfasts, and sides (i.e. rice and potatoes), but I have had bad luck with produce and bread. It could just be me, but there has traditionally been slim pickings or none at all. Knowing that, I craft my shopping list to cope with the situation: I'll mark the things I can get for cheap at Aldi, then specify which produce and lunch meat items I'll get for cheap at Valli nearby. Two things I'll have to get used to are bringing my own bag and bringing a quarter; they don't have shopping bags and you need to insert a quarter deposit to use a cart. I've been bringning my own bags for shopping for years, (it's green, they're stronger, yadda yadda yadda) but sometimes I'll forget to grab them before work and it limits me when I want to stop on my way home; I recommend bringing the bags you need, then bring an extra to keep in the car just in case. As for the quarter, I usually have them around, but on occasion I'll forget and have to try to manage without a cart and it gets ugly. We now have the 'Aldi Quarter' which we keep by the keys dish and reuse the same 25 cent piece every time. Overall, Aldi is a nice place to do your shopping and save some bucks in the process. Like I mentioned above, I wouldn't target getting everything at Aldi, but certainly the bulk if what is needed will be there. Last tip for this review: they don't take credit cards, so bring your cash or debit. read more

Aldi. Yay! I'm a recent convert. As a former citydweller, Aldis were sort of a no-mans land for me for years. Now that I'm suburban, they're a-ok! Plus I found out that they own Trader Joe's, so I figure there is probably some cross merchandising going on. Good selection of staples at great prices (milk, eggs, cheese, lunch meats). The store is clean, and while it's almost always busy, they do a great job of opening checkout lanes when the lines get too long. Plu pretty much everything I've tried so far has been good - though I agree with the previous reviewer's recommendation to CHECK THE LABELS! Just remember - no credit cards (cash or debit only), you need a quarter for a shopping cart (that was a bit intimidating to me at first) and bring your own bags! Enjoy! read more

This is a newer addition to the international chain of very inexpensive grocery stores. It is a very basic setup- from the quarter that you must insert to obtain the grocery cart (and retrieve by replacing the cart)- to either buying a bag (buy the insulated ones - they can be re-used and are great if you are not going right home.) or snagging a box or BYO. There are many generic versions of products that you are familiar with- however they do not have as much selection- only one brand of mandarin orange (which happens to be good). The best item is a sleeper- find it in the freezer- 4 small vacuum sealed steaks that are only $6 and grill very tender- it is not advertised as filet m**** but at $1.50 per steak it is darn close! I have tried some other items and not been overly impressed- but if my budget was pinching me- I'd be shopping here a lot more often! read more

This is the worst Aldis I have shopped at. I have called corporate to complain about their cashier Tivet. She is a horrible employee with a rude and bad attitude toward the women shoppers. I have never met someone as rude as her. When she rung my items, I was so disgusted by her attitude that I didn't want her touching my hands. Ive never really liked this location. But today I had to come to this one. Everything was fine until I paid. The cashier thought I only gave him $20 in cash. Which wasn't the case, I gave $45 in cash. I ended up putting the rest on my card. And then realized he over charged me. I looked at the recipe and it showed $20 cash, $59 credit. Not correct. I told him right away ! And this point there is a very long line. I Waited about 15 mins for the assistant manager to try and count his drawer which ended up being short $85 instead of over the $20 I was owed. So long story short I still have yet to receive a call about it. I tried to call but there is only a corporate number which is also soooo frustrating!! The only reason why Ill go back to this location is to get my money I'm owed and that's it. I absolutely better get a gift card or something for all this trouble. read more
