The produce is fresh but on the verge of a day or two going rotten. So eat right away. Support local for sure.

We tried to order lunch (around 1:00pm) but the bitchy counter-person told us they were out of everything we wanted to order. So we said forget it, at which time she promptly sneered something & turned to her coworker and they both started acting up. I'm thinking with the grouchy staff with tattoos and no manners that perhaps this is a half-way house for prison inmates to go back into the work force. And then I worked for Create-A-Card (if you remember them), which had personalized card printing in, literally, every single Meijer location. At the time I worked for Create-A-Card there were less than 50 stores. Meijer and I go a LONG way back. So as far as big-box, full-retail stores go, it's always my go-to. Groceries? Check Sweat pants? Check Aquarium filters? Check Windshield solvent? Check Sharpies? Check ..and the list goes on. The staff at Meijer is usually very helpful (if a bit hard to find), and there's never a team member sitting around doing nothing. People who work at Meijer usually have a great work ethic and I don't know that I've ever felt like I was bothering anyone when I would ask them where I could find self-sealing stem bolts. Likewise the store is usually pretty clean. Not like Walmart, where it usually feels like you're walking into a friend's house, but that friend has 4 or 6 kids under the age of 7 and none of them cleans up after themselves or puts their toys away. They often tend to keep the produce area pretty tidy, which is is a challenge because produce needs to be neat and tidy. Who wants to buy ugly produce? There are numerous big-box general merchandise stores, and when I need something -- anything -- Meijer is where I'm headed.

So, it was a nice surprise that a Smoothie King was basically walking distance from Giordano's and Meijer's. With that said, I basically saw this smoothie king location just before we headed into having a lunch at Giordano's, and after eating, I decided to punch in a mobile order at smoothie King before heading to Meijer's to do some shopping with a friend. With that said, I ordered online thru Smoothie King's website and it was quick to navigate and pay. It took about 15 minutes from start to pick up. I basically purchased a large and the cost was around $7 ish, which was nice and not really overpriced for the size. They have pretty open menu but have popular flavors to their smoothies prominently on their website. I decided to choose a spinach and pineapple (?) smoothie. As we entered, the young man and woman behind the counter informed us, loudly, that they were closing at 6:00. We said hello to the man at the cash register and asked him how things were going, to which he replied "TERRIBLE!" At that point, we noticed that they had put away most of the meat on display, even though it was only 5:45. We felt very uncomfortable and decided not to stay. We won't return. We understand wanting to get home on a Sunday night, but if your hours are until 6:00, why are you packed up before that time and treating your customers like an inconvenience? Change the hours to 5:30, close the doors and you can get home by 6:00!
