So I always hear people talk about Aldi like it's some sort of horrible place that only the cheap food is sold... And I've even heard that's where the poor people shop. Well good, rich people stay out of here because something like 80% of the food is organic. Most of the stuff tastes just as good as the stuff you're paying a ton of money for. And they have little hidden gems like the sauerkraut. I mean this stuff is pure gold and you would have never known about it unless you went into the poor People's store. I do have to take away one star however; this is due to the fact that you only sell white hotdog buns. I mean come on all these some of us do eat multigrain or whole wheat. Aldi doesn't pretend to be something it's not. There are other grocery stores that might have a bigger selection, specialty departments, lots of staff, etc. but Aldi doesn't need any of that. It's the simplicity of Aldi that does it for me (along with the price!). The packed parking lot tells me that others know the same. Aldi carries many products that are just as good as brand names at a great price. Perfect when I need basic items for the week. When Aldi first came to town, I was skeptical of the produce, but not anymore. They've even started to sell a few products (like apples) by the pound instead of packaged. Don't be afraid of a line at the register - their cashiers are speedy, but friendly, and will readily open an additional lane when things get too busy. read more

It's been 25 years since I stepped foot into an Aldi, and will probably be another 25 years when I do again. This was eerily reminiscent of shopping with my Depression Era grandmother....off brand labels, stocked shelves still in shipping boxes, pinching pennies. My experience began when I couldn't figure out how to get a shopping cart. They were chained together and had to break down and ask somebody. You will need a quarter to unlock the chain. When you return the cart the quarter will be reimbursed. I never realized before, but I am officially a grocery snob. I have to admit, the produce looked decent. Everything was prepackaged though, so I didn't get much. I like to scrutinize over every apple and orange before I purchase. In the checkout, two of the five checkouts were open. I was number seven in line and looked horrified at the carts ahead of me, overflowing with canned food items. I desperately wanted to flee. It couldn't be worth the wait. Wait I did, only to be reminded that nothing would be bagged unless I brought something in myself. My individual items were placed back into my cart and rolled around loosely on the drive home. read more

I'm a weekly Aldi shopper in cedar falls. I've grown to understand that they do not have everything. But they have several grocery staples at way lower prices than traditional grocery stores. They also have lots of unique items you won't find elsewhere. This is a nice new store. I enjoyed the new decor and interior. The general merchandise was messy and I didn't even care to browse but they had everything I came in for. The cashier was friendly and efficient. Staples I always buy at Aldi because of the savings: Orange juice Milk Eggs Chicken nuggets Fries Ketchup (compare to Hines you won't be disappointed) BBQ sauce Hummus Cereal Fish sticks Canned ravioli Produce that's on sale (great prices on pineapple, bagged lettuce, cantaloupe, blue berries etc) read more

I love Aldi's! I stop by here weekly to get everything from milk, fresh fruits and veggies, baking supplies, and meat. When you are looking for a deal on things you get every week, look no further. This is NOT a regular grocery store. The brands here are house brands and it is supposed to be that way to keep costs low. I have seen people complain about "no choices" it's supposed to be a no frills store‍ I am not someone who cares about paying more for milk, butter, and eggs due to brand loyalty. So if you are particular about the brands you purchase this is not the store for you. If you want a cart bring a quarter, and they do not provide bags so you will need to bring your own. read more

I am a weekly Aldi shopper. I get all my basics (milk, eggs, cheese, produce and chicken) here for half the price of Walmart. This store is on my way home so it is convenient. The gluten-free section is large and the healthy food options are on every aisle. After 3/4 shoppers with full carts are in line to checkout they will open another aisle, but checkout is speedy. Bring your own bags, cash/credit/debit, and check the circular for great deals. This store is always clean and we'll stocked. read more

The cashier was great. Management has poor customer service. They had an item which had a price tag which was higher than what the display price showed. I requested the price that was on the display tag but they said that they could not give it to me at that price, and that it was probably a customer who moved the display price tag. I shared that the price tag and the display tag had the same name yet different prices which then they put blame on the corporate office. If this was Hy-Vee the item would have been free as there was a price mismatch! They requested I leave my number so that the store manager could follow-up. It's been 5 days and have yet to hear back. read more

The management's customer service is bad. I told the spike-haired woman at the counter that the shopping cart coin mechanics doesn't work outside she ignored me twice. And I stressed she needs to find someone to go check. She replied I will go look after done cashiering. Because of that I had to carry all my groceries to my car and I'm 7 months pregnant. I'm Asian and I feel she has some discrimination against me. read more

This Aldi store is great. It's very new, the store is clean including the bathrooms which are super nice. The checkout process is amazingly fast, there are rarely more than 2 cashiers and they don't need any more because huge carts of groceries are scanned probably 2 or 3 times faster than competing grocery stores. People giving 1 star because it reminds them of the "Depression Era grandmother" need to get over themselves. Everyone knows Aldi is a discount grocery store, if you want to pay more for a bigger store with name brand foods go elsewhere. Also part of being a discount store is that there are fewer choices, things on the shelves are in their shipping boxes, etc. Obvious to me, but I guess not obvious to all the reviewers. I disagree with the confusing aisles comment also. Every time I go to the big local grocery store I have to ask someone to show me where something is (I dare you to find the canned pumpkin). Aldi's layout is very straightforward and one-directional so you can quickly go through the whole store and if you didn't see it on your way through then they probably don't have it. My grocery shopping situation is nearly opposite as the other reviewers, I almost never go to the big grocery stores so every time I step foot in them I hate it (mostly because their prices are ridiculous). I'm not a grocery snob but I am a food snob, my family eats a paleo diet with no processed foods and Aldi supports that. We also make good money but live on a budget so we can, ya know, retire and stuff. Can we buy all our groceries at Aldi's? No, but we can get 80%+ and we are saving tons of money. This store is right next to Walmart and Costco, so the last few things on your list you can get there. I'm being hard on the other reviewers here just because I think they did not give Aldi a fair shake, they had bad first impressions based on their familiar expensive grocery stores. It's understandable your first visit can be confusing (carts, self bagging, layout), but now that you know all that stuff give it another try, and yes, pinch some pennies. read more

I am a weekly shopper at Albi in Coralville. The store is always busy,any time I am in there. Aisles are wide and store is clean. I buy bread milk, eggs and other basic groceries items there. Prices are good. Only thing is the checkout lanes. Never enough open. Have to wait in line for several minutes. read more

I know that other reviews here have been negative, but I think that it's wrong to expect this to be a grocery store like others in town. The receipt at the end of the visit says alot! It's definitely different - much more basic layout, no fancy displays, no music, less choice. But what you get is good quality food at exceptional prices - which are really the two most important things for me when grocery shopping! I think we easily save 30% on our usual grocery bill, sometimes more. I've found the staff extremely friendly, and although the lines look long, I've never seen check-out staff work faster.
