As a general rule I tend to support anything that is vaguely connected to animals so the PDSA will always be a winner. Bitten by the charity shop bug at a young age (my nan used to drag me around all of the shops in Penarth on a Saturday afternoon) I'm a dab hand at finding a gem in amongst all of the goodies. To be honest there is a decent selection of stuff so the assistants really seem to be skilled at picking the best stuff to put out on the rails. There are also quite a few young volunteers so it has a really diverse range of merchandise. I find that the PDSA also seem to price things really fairly so it really is a place to pick up a bargain whilst contributing to a really good cause.

It has cheap clothes, cheap DVD's and cheap food. There's not much I need that Asda doesn't sell really. 2. Its Quiet. I can't tell you that there won't be any queues at Christmas but pretty much everytime I go there I have a nice relaxing shopping experience which is mighty hard to come by these days. 3. It full of Singles!! But now there have been some big changes to the current store filled with the brightest lights and the bubbliest of people. This is a gigantic store that a child could get lost in for months. It has such a fantastic variety of toys and I can live my dream once again and pretend to have a lightsaber fight in order to defeat the dark side. The number of aisles are staggering but there is always an assistant prepared to help if you need some help about an item or just finding your way around the store. Toy's R Us has the renovation it needed. It is now a happy and bright place that is filled with all the toys in the world along with excellent service. This is the most cramped of all stores, but it also has a good range of food; often something a little bit different from the others. They have good morals too: fairtrade and all that jazz is well up there on their list of priorities, which is commendable. There are, fortunately, no self-serve machines in here, and the staff are generally quick to serve and helpful. There's one things I will never really understand though. There's always a mini-trolley near the cashiers which is full of discount products; but it's just weird and badly placed, because there's already not a whole lot of space once you've got more than two people trying to pay at the same time. Silly billies.

By the way, I went there one Sunday morning about 9.20 as I needed a prescription, and I was horrified to see a large crowd of people queuing to get in. This was made all the more tragic in my mind for a few reasons... it was raining... the doors opened at 9.30 but nothing could actually be bought until 10.00am... and the majority of the people there were old aged pensioners... why were they standing out in the cold waiting to go to a supermarket???) Okay, I'll admit, I didn't go in here to buy a bed…read more I was walking down Penarth Road one day, when it started to rain. This wasn't your usual Welsh rain, either. This was proper hardcore 'I'm going to rain on you' kind of rain. So I dashed inside the nearest store, and found myself confronted with a large selection of beds and a friendly-looking floor worker. He welcomed me, as I sheepishly explained about the rain and left little wet foot prints. Then, as it continued to pelt it down outside, we had a little chat. Dreams is no going to be unfamiliar to a lot of you, but what immediately struck me were the significantly cheap prices to the beds. As large companies go, Dreams is also pretty green, if you care about that kind of thing. But mainly, if I ever need a bed, I'll go back here because the staff were to nice to me. Although they were busy and still working, they took the time of day just to say hello and smile at me, even though I clearly was a lost cause of a customer. A lovely bunch of people.

Well this one was made for Morrisons and I really, really like it. Large parts of the shop are given over to the fresh food and they have a fishmonger, a butcher, a baker , a piemaker and more. It also has a large salad bar which is well stocked even in the evenings. It has a good wine/alcohol selection too with a great variety of speciality beers and ciders. The fresh cakes are also a delight. If you want more there is a small selection of DVDs, books, games, house stuff. More importantly you can always get a parking space close to the store and its quite good value too.

There is a wide range of natural and organic cosmetics, shampoos, lotions and the like. They have a great range of sea salt scrubs in a number of enchantingly tempting flavours. This shop is not all fancy and hippy like you might think. Instead it's a sensible and well laid out store that does exactly what it says it does; provides health and beauty products. And a good range at a good price.
