Cindy The Aldi Worker who helped me
Joseph R.

Had a wonderful experience working with Cindy as she was able to help me get what I needed and showed me around. I appreciate the help and effort. The location is immaculate and organized and like new.

This was my first visit to Aldi and my overall general impression was a store that seems neat, clean, and organized. I came in looking specifically for one item, Cacao Powder, that I was told they have. I did a quick search and only found one type of Cocoa Powder, a good deal but not what I was after. So on my way out I took the opportunity to check for some items I regularly purchase and see how the prices compared to the stores I usually frequent. Generally the prices here seemed about like the prices at my regular stores. So since this location is further away for me, I'll likely not be shopping here often. I'm not saying Aldi is a below average store, it's not. I just don't need another store with similar pricing to the places where I already shop.

No refrigeration in the store, mind you it is 92 degrees outside! A popsicle or something would have been nice.

If you're new to Aldi, as everyone seemed to be the day I was there, you need to remember 4 things: 1) Bring a quarter to get a cart.

I stopped here too, today Tuesday August 15th…read more My main purchase was sweet corn. Now this location was $0.25 cheaper = $4.75 a dozen. This farm business had more white corn to choose from and the bi-color + also yellow. I bought 6 White and 6 Bi-Color to make my dozen. After parking, are large wagons carts already sorted with colored corn to bag up faster. Then pay inside and/or shop also for vegetables and FRUIT. Everything is arranged very nicely, labeled properly with signs to read prices. I bought 3 nectarines the size of a softball at $1.29# I will try and if they're juicy and sweet, then I'll come back for more. There are some summer help "students" working along with 2 old time sisters.. Owner Virginia is 84 and sister Marianne is 82. Both of them work here to keep busy with their "senior peppy energy" since it's their family business! I did not get their names, shame on me, but I will have to go back and buy some more delicious corn. I had one of each color for dinner today and it was perfect and did not need any salt because it was sweet enough. The history of this farm goes back many years since 1926 , see my photo with the sign to prove. Also do the math it's 92 years old. Its a very well-kept farm with competitive pricing and fresh produce. I have in the past bought 2 or 3 beautiful, full size hanging baskets with 6 different plants in pot at lower prices than English Gardens, or Weigands. Shhhh Again I look foward also at the end of July and the month of August to buy from this location. Clap your hands, Thumbs up for these Farmers, that are still working hard over many years, down the line carrying on the growing farm tradition and their family business name. Let's support your neighbor, the farmers that I've been here way before any other residents in this crazy busy city of Macomb Township. I am happy to drive up, stop and shop to support them! ;)

However, during our most recent visit, we noticed quite a few changes from previous years, and unfortunately, not all for the better. They no longer have the scenic hayride that used to include a free donut and a cup of apple cider with your ticket purchase. Now, it's $5 per person, and instead of a peaceful scenic ride, it stops at every station and they no longer give you a donut & cider with ticket purchase. When we asked about the change, we were told it was because they weren't making money off the old setup. I understand businesses need to adjust, but it really took away from the experience. That scenic ride with the cider and donut was always one of the highlights for us ; something we truly looked forward to every year. They did add more bouncy houses for the kids, which is nice, but the ones they had before were just as fun. The food was about the same, decent, but nothing special. It was noticeably more expensive this year. $5 for a single ear of corn felt excessive. On the positive side, the cinnamon donuts are still amazing, and the apple cider is as delicious as ever. I also enjoyed the wine tasting, which is always fun, though seating is still limited and could be improved. Overall, the visit just didn't have the same charm or warmth as before. We still had an okay time, but it didn't feel as memorable as past years. Sadly, I think this might be our last year visiting, we'll probably look for a new orchard next fall.
