Aldi is like the less attractive, less fun cousin to Trader Joe's. You see her at the family reunion. Include her in the family photos. Throw back a few Grain Belts. But was never your FAVORITE one. But then you realize, Aldi is just a quieter, smaller version of your more flamboyunt TJ cousin. What really looks like a muffler shop just north of the Cub her in the "new" Blaine (east of 65 homies!), is Aldi. With their twenty five cent grocery cart fee, bag your own goods in your own bags kind of theme, Aldi is available to always deliver. Wait? I don't mean "deliver". Cuz that would be awesome! But they have a nice selection of groceries at rock bottom prices. Millville cereals are of equal quality to any General Mills version. And at &1.69, a total value. Avocados have been a quarter recently. Yep. A quarter. And while they don't have the fabulous TJ's in house made frozen items and deli type salads, I'm cool with that. And while they don't have snappy little homemade signs throughout the store and that earthy Ben & Jerry's "we hug the world" attitude. I'm cool with that. It's a perfectly sized, "cozy" store with only five or so aisles. They have great meats and poultry, veggies, fruits and breads...again el cheapo. Staff is friendly. And when the line piles up they are quick to give a shout out on the intercom. Other than the surly old man customer who yelled at me for putting my groceries on the conveyer belt..."HEY, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO LEAVE THEM IN THE CART!"...Gee, my bad Grandpa Munster. How crazy of me to assume I put groceries on the grocery conveyer belt. Geriatric Douche!! I was consoled by two nice customers in the parking lot after this. Yep. Indeed. Minnesota Nice! So save your Ms. Pac Man quarters for the grocery cart and avocados and give your shyer cousin a shot! read more

I love this store. BUT, I just bought an artisan lettuce clamshell there because a sign said that the lettuce was not sourced from "the affected area", meaning Salinas, Ca. The mix did include romaine lettuce. After I got home, I checked the package and it said it was grown and packed in Salinas. Shame on me for being gullible. It's now going in the trash. prices are low....and the quality of what you buy reflects it. Produce is usually in the mid to end stages of usefulness. Also....I didn't understand the mentality of limiting the purchase of certain items when its clearly not a hoarding situation. I was denied buying 10 SMALL (.26 each) cans of tomato sauce by the tomato sauce police at the cash register. Apparently I missed the sign saying limit 4 next to JUMBO sized cans of tomato sauce. Its not like I was cleaning them out of tomato sauce to stock up for covid-20, the revenge of covid-19. Rather I was trying to make some meals for a coworker down on their luck. I confirmed my suspicion that there wasn't a tomato sauce shortage or rationing when I went to Walmart and purchased my supplies. Defund the tomato sauce police. read more

DO YOU LOVE TO SAVE $$$? -Dont let the boring exterior keep you from savings!!! 1. Make your monthly, weekly grocery list 2. Head to your nearest Aldi store with your list, grocery bags, a quarter and an open mind. Having an open mind as when it comes to brand name and label loyalty will help you save. Do not bring coupons, Aldi doesn't take them. 3. Look around the store and see if there are items there that can be swapped out with the ones you are currently buying at Cub, Target, even Walmart. For example, do you need name brand coffee creamer, sugar, rice, ied tea, chicken breast, broccoli, milk, apples, noodles, eggs or baking goods. Many of the products offered taste just like name brand I enjoy the medium roast coffee for $3.99. Gosh, I love cheap coffee! 4. It is okay to not find all of your desired items at Aldi. For example, Aldi sells all of he items needed to make tacos, but doesn't sell taco sauce. This is a item that will need to be purchased elsewhere. 5. Try one of Aldi's store brands and compare it with your store brand. All you lose is a couple bucks if you hate, but if you love it you will save a lot of money by switching to Aldi. Personally, I like the Aldi brand peanut butter kid's crunch. This is their version of peanut butter captain crunch. However, the price variation is about $3.50. I used to not buy PBCC bcause it was to expensive but Aldi's version lets me enjoy it again at $ 1.79 Try somethin new everytime is my motto. I have been surprised more times I have been disappointed. I actually have only disliked three things in the store, but I wont tell because you mat try these things and like them. 6. When your ready to go unload your food unto the conveyor beltand they will put it back into a cart and you will go andpack your food on one of the shelves. By shopping for my basics at Aldi and buying specialty at Target and Walmart, I believe I am saving about $250 a month on food. Don't let the boring looking store keep you from savings. Go here with a list, try to go alone (no kids especially is the best) and come with a snack in your tummy. Happy savings! read more

Came to this Aldi while the one closest to us was being remodeled. The place was packed but the cashiers were so fast the lines moved quick. Our cashier was Hillarious and friendly. Will be back! read more
