We hired Alchemy Restoration because the owner seemed very knowledgeable and their portfolio was impressive--they've worked on some well-known Savannah landmarks like the Telfair Museum and the Mercer-Williams House. Immediately after completion, the work looked high quality.
However, only a few months later, there were real issues. The project took a long time, too, with stretches where we saw little visible progress week to week. They were also the most expensive quote we received in Savannah--we paid tens of thousands--but within four months, we see:
In one room (the reddish one pictured), there are large cracks in the paint and a seam that has fallen due to what another contractor said was improper installation.
In another room, large cracks formed in the paint, which resulted in us having to hire another company to redo entire walls. We checked moisture levels to rule out underlying issues, but that wasn't the cause. Another company suspected insufficient drying time between paint layers or between primer and paint layers.
Beadboarding that was installed has cracked and bowed. That happened in just over three months of the work being completed.
I reached out to Alchemy Restoration by email over a week ago and unfortunately, haven't received a reply.
All in all, I cannot recommend Alchemy Restoration based on the way the work looks after just a few months, especially in light of the premium price point. We spent quite a lot already and now have to pay another contractor to redo much of the work. I'm attaching photos so others can judge for themselves--I wish I had seen a review like this before choosing them. read more
