This is a very special restaurant. If you're in Anzio, Alceste Al Buon Gusto is THE place to go.
We walked in, no reservation, and Guissepe greeted us like old friends! It's this vibe that permeates every aspect of the restaurant. Locals are all there, and talking together, and with Giuseppe and his family. It is the furthest thing from a sterile and cold place.
The food was really great. As a vegan, I was a little worried! But I told the server, and they modified the linguine with turnip tops for me and it was AWESOME. My wife had the seafood tartare antipasti and she loved it. Giuseppe recommended the homemade pasta with clams and muscles; she loved it. She said it was unlike any other shellfish dish she has had.
American visitors, make sure to go here. If you're staying in Rome, make the 45 minute drive to Anzio and have a nice dinner here. It's right on the water and just amazing. read more
