We were in Cabo in early March 2026 and once again went to one of our favourite restaurants.....Alcaravea. We brought our friends as we had raved about this restaurant and unfortunately we were very disappointed. We waited one and a half hours to get our meals, the meals were mediocre at best and the waiter was not very attentive. We had to wait another 15 -20 minutes to get the bill. They did give us a complimentary hot coffee drink but didn't make up for the poor service and food. Won't be returning. read more

Do not miss this spot while in Cabo. A must try. This small, unassuming neighborhood gem boasts the exquisite culinary skills of head chef and owner Enrique. White table cloths and fabulous service kicked off our dining experience. Two of us started with the Provençal stuffed mushroom appetizer. Plenty for 4 to split! Very tasty. (So is the complimentary garlic bread) Enrique came by our table and introduced himself. He surprised us with ONE goat cheese stuffed ravioli in. White citrus herb sauce...Just to sample. Yum! The Caprese salad was fresh and plenty to share between two- Altho we didn't! While I tried to curtail the amount of food by ordering the eggplant appy- this was still a sizable plate. There were 4 delicate slices of eggplant covered with a light parmigiana and carefully browned mozzarella cheese. I took half home! The filet mignon was like butter. Cooked to perfection and nicely season and covered in a mushroom gravy. The side pasta was done with a white cream sauce- light and tasty. My table guest took half their meal home, too. That left us with plenty of room (ok, maybe not so much room) for dessert. Holy cannoli...we had crepe Suzette that was cooked to order. Unbelievable!! And yes- there was cannolis. We tasted a Mexican wine at the recommendation of our sever- which did not disappoint. All in, we spent just under $200 and had left overs. A wonderful evening out. Very good Italian gourmet restaurant. Started off our meal with delicious garlic bread dipped in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Had the bruschetta appetizer topped with the freshest ingredients. My husband ordered the Chilean sea bass covered with truffle sauce and shrimp. It came with a variety of fresh organic vegetables including bakchoy, carrots, Brussels sprouts, asparagus and broccoli. My friend and I went for the lunch special and were super impressed! There were 3 or 4 choices if chicken, Fish, meat, but he had us both at pasta with olive oil and garlic and fresh organic vegetables. Lunch came with fresh, hot, grilled bread, and a choice of 2 soups or salad. We both opted for the vegetable cream soup. Everything was even more amazing than the last time we went! It was hot, perfectly seasoned, and simply delicious. We both had a glass of Cabernet with lunch and enjoyed the quiet and charming ambiance to talk. To top it off, delicious dessert was included! Went here for the first time with some friends that live in Cabo. So glad we did! It was absolutely fantastic! A wonderful selection of wine, cozy atmosphere, and the food was out of this world! We had the lasagna as an appetizer to share which was delicious and my husband and I had the Sea bass special which was cooked perfectly! Great service and for Cabo it was very reasonably priced for the quality and caliber of the food! I would put it up against any of the most expensive restaurants in Cabo!! Clean plate club good! Had a reservation to try this place after having it recommended. We showed up and the power was out in the restaurant, but the kitchen was up and running, so we decided to stay. It was dark and hot (July in Cabo without air conditioning hot) but we made the best of it. We started with the mushroom appetizer and that was melt in your mouth delicious, then the caprese and Caesar salad which were both great. I ordered the sea bass special and it was probably the best sea bass dish I have ever eaten. Everyone at the table scraped their plates clean. So glad we decided to stick with this place. First time here. Last day of our stay in Cabo. Decided to try this restaurant even though was reluctant to try an Italian restaurant, as my husband is Italian. We have been here for two weeks. We have tried many restaurants in our stay, including an Italian restaurant that gets high reviews. We know great Italian food, and this is the best Italian/Mediterranean restaurant we've been to! First course, stuffed mushrooms; it was just perfection! Second course, the vodka sauce with rigatoni. They make their own pasta. It was cooked "Al dente", as Italian pasta should be cooked. Third course, the sea bass cooked with a special truffle sauce - outstanding! For dessert, we had their crème brûlée- unbelievable! The service was also outstanding! Comparable to any five star restaurant in the US! We live in California, where we know what a five star restaurant should be like. The chef/owner, Enrique, came to our table several times wanting our feedback. He was trained in various culinary schools, including Italy. What a treat, speaking to the chef! You will not be disappointed, Amazing Pasta and food in a small chef owned hidden gem Family and I have been coming to La Alcaravea for 20 plus years. Over the years this restaurant has been solid. The pastas are always perfectly cooked including their assortment of in house freshly made pastas. Their wine list is decent, and prices not over exaggerated which is greatly appreciated. With a wide assortment of Mediterranean dishes and daily specials they are assured to have something that will fulfill your cravings. This trip we had the mussels in white wine sauce. They happily provided an alternate that excluded lactose and the dish was amazing. For entrees we had my favorite, John's Pasta which is a pasta with a spicy, white cheese and cream sauce, with a bunch of perfectly seared large scallops. This dish alone is worth coming here and it is NOT on the menu but you can order by requesting the waiter. Other entrees this time included not on the menu a fresh pasta with pomodoro sauce with fresh seafood (mussels, squid, clams, scallops, and shrimp) which was perfectly done, full of flavor, and seafood was perfectly cooked which is not easily found. We had a Pita Pizza which was excellent, and a lasagna which was ordered from the menu, also delicious. For deserts we had two orders of fresh cannelloni which was divine, freshly made crepes, and my wife due to her lactose intolerance, ordered fresh strawberries, again not on the menu and the chef actually went to find fresh strawberries to accommodate. That is service! Service overall this experience was very good and we were all. Entry happy with service and food. After 20 plus years Alcaravea remains one of our favorite go to restaurants in Cabo. If your are in the mood for great pasta, or Mediterranean cuisine give La Alcaravea the opportunity. You will not be disappointed. read more

On my return visit to Cabo, one month last October and one month this march/april 2024 We went to this restaurant for dinner and the food was as tasty and beautifully presented by extremely attentive crew Went today for lunch: MUST TRY... lunch menu is presented 12-4 (dinner after 4) The special lunches are a complete full meal set up so there is less deciding Bread/toast served warm (hot), soup ( 2-3 choices) I had the vegetable soup, which is pictured here, my partner had the most beautifully and bountiful minestrone soup. A choice of several options, I had the sea bass while my partner had the steak the meal is a gracious $320 pesos ( $20 us) A tea or fresh lime drink plus a sweet treat is included. The attentive service, beautifully presented meals makes this place a must "enjoy"! A little wiggle room off the main drag ( about 5 blocks from the main drag in Cabo) I encourage your visit here, great food w attention to detail and service. And the lunch specials are a winner, as I love to eat great food a lot. I am here for another 5 weeks, and I expect to enjoy their lunch specials as well as their filet steak again and again. By far the best food we ate in Cabo. It is tucked away off of the main road, feels as though you have stepped into Italy. The service was outstanding, every staff member (and the chef!) greeted us with smiles and detailed recommendations on the dishes. We started with the aranccini which was perfectly crispy on the outside with warm, tender risotto on the inside. My husband ordered the sea bass which was perfectly cooked and seasoned - so much better than the $100+ fish we previously ate at the Waldorf. It was served with seasonal veggies which were also cooked to perfection. I ordered the lasagne which was full of flavor and served piping hot- super fresh! We wish we had found this place on day one because we would return in a heart beat! Alcaravea is our go to place whenever we are in Cabo. If you are only familiar with the touristy food served at the cheesy restaurants at the harbor this little gem is worth tracking down. The menu though not huge has enough of a variety to sooth every pallet. Fish, beef, pasta and chicken. Needles to say the seafood dishes stand out. Nice quiet atmosphere a couple of blocks away from the main drag and the crowds. Chef Enrique Gerard has placed this nice little pearl of a restaurant in what is a sea of tourist traps. Every time we're in Cabo, we put Alcaravea on our list to visit at least once during our visit. Since we're generally there for 2+ weeks, we have dinner here 2+ times because it's always consistent and it's delicious. We're those weird people that bring wine with us on vacation and I believe it's a $10 corkage to pair it with dinner here. Our favorites on the menu are the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer, fish of the day cooked with the Mediterranean style and my favorite is either the lasagna or chicken parmesan (it's not on the menu but they'll make it). The cocktails are yummy and the service is generally very attentive as well. The reason why this is a 4 instead of a raving 5 review is because we were seriously embarrassed when we recommended Alcaravea to new friends we met on our flight over to Cabo. They took our recommendation but during Christmas/NYE, they were pushing their *special* menu. I always ask if the restaurant is offering their normal menu so we were lucky enough not to be stuck with the overcharged specials. This was not the case for our friends. After meeting up with them at their house they rented, they informed us that they were not offered the normal menu and disliked their dinner. In the future, I understand that now I have to tell anyone we recommend to ask for a normal menu. It really seemed like a bait and switch and it seems quite shady for them to do. read more

This is by FAR my favorite Italian restaurant in Cabo. I have tried them all ...Salvatore but Gs (great service ok food), Romeo y Juliet (romantic, great service, and excellent traditional Romanian lasagne) but nothing comes close to the flavors and perfection to Alcaravea. I stumbled on this place originally with my wife when Salvatore G was closed in Sep 2021 due to renovations and it was a blessing in disguise. The service is spectacular and the food to die for! Fast forward to Jan 2022 I finally got to go to Salvatore Gs and it has nothing on this place. Now I've come back to Alcaravea and it is still exactly as remembered. Try it. You won't regret it. PS. My favs are the lasagne, carbonara and believe or not the anchovy - my wife was skeptical about the anchovy but visiting Napoli often I have turned so many people into believers. She loved it. Mario, our waiter, who rivaled the best I've experienced, and 4 staff stood vigilant for anything that would make our evening as perfect as possible. They succeeded! Their special tonight- sea bass, grilled, butterflied, then baked with mozzarella and herbs in between, topped by two delicious shrimp and covered with a Chardonnay reduction and served with angel hair and pesto. We saw another beautiful dish on Yelp. It wasn't on the menu but they recreated it for us.... a tender filet Mignon topped with prosciutto wrapped prawns and linguine with vodka sauce.
