I was thrilled with the customer svc I received recently & Silver City's Albertsons really came through for me, when my daughter was sent to the hospital in an emergency situation, & I, being long-distance & living in Colorado, was distraught bc I thought I was out of luck with having flowers delivered to her same-day since it was mid-afternoon, & the floral specialty store I initially placed an order with had already put me off to the next day. I spoke with cust. svc. rep. Pablo & told him the situation, & he went above & beyond to make sure a lovely bouquet was ready quickly for delivery, even though the floral dept person had already left for the day. And the following week I was thoroughly impressed once again by the customer svc I received when I had more specialized items hand-selected for my daughter in short order once again late in the day. I would highly recommend this store bc of the excellent service I received both times I called; the patience & care shown while successfully filling my rush orders was greatly appreciated! They finally stopped the lewd "music", more like rantings from the sex crazed sixties, after numerous complaints, so I guess someone listened to their customer and understood we go to supermarkets to buy food, not to be molested. Maybe the store is now a suitable place for children, but there's no telling for certain whether the lewdness of the famous sex crazed California celebrities will make its way back. Good enough selection of organic food, and since I have been barred from where I used to shop at the Coop, as I am detested as a Christian in many parts of the country, I will continue patronizing Albertson's while I am in this most peculiar town. Still expecting someday to hear Bach, Mozart, and Saint Saens, but until then, I can always bring a barf bag with me if Californy is the place we ought to be. read more

Produce at this Albertsons is some of the worst I've seen. Even packaged greens look awful. The selection is awful. They are always completely out of some common produce I'm looking for. Almost every time I go there are huge carts of produce blocking the aisles. Maybe that's where the fresh produce is! Today the aisles were crowded with people trying to shop around the carts. Prices are the highest of any conventional grocery store in Silver City. There are always long waits to check out. Management may think that there's no competition so they don't bother to do things right. There's Walmart and Food Basket and both are better than this nasty place. read more

This place is infamous for it's extremely rude staff (See reviews). the produce is old and tired and the fruit is often moldy. The deli meats contain enough preservatives that you'll glow in the dark after consumption. The toilets have no fans or windows so the smell can take out three or four isles at a time. I use the just 4you app. There are certain checkers who help with the app, I like to use them. I do not like to be told that I cannot use those checkers. The customer service manager Alexandra, kept making me go to a different line, that was no shorter! I have the right to check out where I want to go. Alex was very rude to me and also my checker. I tried to call the store manager to complain, Alex directed me to some kid, not the manager. If I want fast checkout, I'll use Walmart delivery. I like Albertsons because of the friendly atmosphere. I do most of my shopping at Silver City Albertsons. There are not a lot of other choices. In general I've found the employees to be pleasant although not friendly or knowledgeable. They also don't improve over time. One example. When I started shopping here I enjoyed the fresh wing bar. Though the selection isn't great the wings were quite good and fresh. Then about a year ago they stopped putting the signs over the wings to ID them. The lady said the signs are right in the drawer but no one bothers to use them, So if I want to purchase wings I have to get an employee to walk over and "attempt" to identify each type. They often get it wrong and I pay $7 or $8 for wings that aren't enjoyable at home. I can see this happening occasionally but this has been true for over a year. read more

Huge long lines. Every. Single. Time Did I mention that the lines are long always every time of day, no matter when, no matter how many people are working. Prices are not great. Oh and there's always long lines. I can't tell you how many times I've actually gotten groceries and then seen the lines and the tons of Staff standing around doing nothing and just left my cart with all the grocery still in it and gone somewhere else. There is a woman working in the pharmacy at Albertson's that seems to have a chip on her shoulders. There have been a couple of VERY unpleasant interactions with her. I really like shopping at this Albertsons. Every time I have been there the employees are very nice and helpful. I don't even know where to begin here. I have not encountered one employee who has NOT been rude or completely ignored my existence when either asking for help or during the checkout. They either glare at you, talk to their coworkers, or just pretend like there isn't a paying human being in front of them. I'm not sure if it's a snobby thing since this is the "nicest" grocery store in Silver City or what, but it's not fucking Dillard's so come down from your high throne. It's Silver City. It wouldn't kill the cashiers to say hello or at least bare a smile. It just disappoints me that we pay so much more for groceries here than at Walmart and they are ten-times more rude. The only reason we shop at Albertsons is when we need something that we can't get at Walmart. I'm not sure how fix character flaws but it definitely makes it uncomfortable to shop here. read more

I recently moved to Silver City via Austin, Tx, Santa Fe, NM and Los Angeles, CA. Therefore, I have had numerous opportunities to compare markets. I've shopped here several times and the selection and prices are very good! The store is clean and well staffed. This review is probably as much a condemnation of Silver City merchants in general as this particular store, but this store typically has skimpy selections of most products. They are also prone to running out of various products during holidays (only one brand of Turkey, for instance). They seem to run their business like the "Pretty Good" grocery store in the fictional Lake Wobegone, who's motto was "if we don't have it, you can probably get by without it". Again, this isn't just a condemnation of this store. The whole county is afflicted with this malady; due to it's relative isolation many businesses are more or less monopolies and most local merchants have learned you don't have to excel in service or selection to get by. read more

Every time I have shopped here, a lot of the meat and vegetables have been rotten and moldy. Some of the employees are rude and unhelpful, and very few registers are ever open. I can find what I need sometimes, if Walmart doesn't have it, but I mainly avoid this store. read more

I definitely agree with the feedback that something is wrong with the attitude of the management and staff in the Silver City store. The manager, in particular is rude and belligerent. I received NO ANSWER to a letter addressing an issue with verifying a local check. I am inclined to believe that the same hostile manager I had a problem with, immediately tossed my letter. This store could use some oversight from responsible senior management outside this location. There are several better choices for your business in Silver City, I have certainly taken my business elsewhere! read more

I was in town for my son's spring break, and the first thing we had to do was stock up on nutritious food for some day hikes. In Silver City, there are few shopping options for people opposed to supporting the Walmart conglomerate. We picked Albertsons for its proximity to my son's apartment and for the fact that it isn't Walmart. Our shopping experience was pleasant, but eating the food that we bought was not at all enjoyable. We had purchased some David's brand wasabi almonds which were rancid in our mouths. They were dated September of 2013 and we had purchased them in March of 2014. When I returned them to the store and talked to the manager (who was very helpful and accommodating), we found several other outdated packages. I can understand how a grocery store could overlook outdated food for a few days, or even a few weeks, but this food was six months past its sell-by date. Unacceptable! read more

JUst tonight, in my relatively new hometown of Silver City, NM, I experienced a really rude and sarcastic cashier, who gave me the distinct impression that he, a "Will S." was not really interested in waiting on customers at all. When I think back over 55 years, I have never experienced a really rude cashier in a grocery store EVER until tonight. The card reader was not functioning correctly, which he attributed to my financial institution, and said it was none of his business and an offense on his part that could get him fired to have ANYTHING TO DO WITH HELPING ME. He sarcastically told me, THANK YOU WHEN I COMPLAINED. Always before the cashier at any store would either say try it again or wait a minute, something helpful, anyway. I WAS TRYING TO TELL HIM that the card reader was going around in circles in saying chip READER malfunction and then, "USE THE SWIPE FUNCTION" it happened twice and then he said that thanks to my doing so, it would not work for 3 more times. Contrary to what Will S told me, the next time it worked. Point here is, he acted totally disinterested, like it was me, and said I would again find a rude cashier. I disagreed with Will S, saying that I did not think so. This because he was the first, and I hope the last. So, thank you all cashiers out there that are not like this man, who I think must be part of management who rarely has to interact with his customers. No manners, very much the exception. read more
