Ah the Albertson's in Cully - good in a inch but not a place I would make an effort to shop at. That certainly comes across far worse than intended, I mean nothing ill about this store at all. The store is shoppable, lit well and stocked well but it is just in an area that I wonder if my car will be broken into while I am grabbing some deli food. This is the gutter of grocery stores. Once you get past all the sketchy characters living in the parking lot and across the street, then you worry that your vehicle will be violated while you're disappointed at all the empty shelves. This review is for the Floral Dept as we don't live in Portland and it's the only part of the store we visited. I called on our drive in and the girl was so helpful. I gave her a description of the balloon bouquet I was wanting. We were able to order and it was ready when we arrived. The balloons were exactly what we wanted for our Granddaughter. I didn't get the employees name but she was the only one working the Floral Dept on Thursday afternoon because she took time from her lunch break to help us! She was so nice and friendly and deserves kudos for being a great employee! read more

Some cashiers don't know how to bag at all. I bought a salmon, the other day and veggie and tuna cans and he thought it was a great idea to put the salmon all the way at the bottom in the cans on top of the fish, not to mention how slow all of them are at checking out costumers. Store signage says open till midnight. Manager locks the doors at 10:45 and harasses everyone still left in the store. When I pointed out to him the posted hours of operation he blamed regional management. The clerks here are rude in general and they take the managers attitude towards customers late at night. For people who work late and need to stop for groceries- expecting a store to be open during posted hours shouldn't result in feeling like some dirty vagrant. It's the closest grocery store so for quick things I come by. Just needed bread eggs and bacon. There was a ton of products in the fridge sections marked 30% off that were expired a day prior. Come on, expired products should be at least 50% off but mainly just trashed. Last week there was 1 box of peanut butter dots I wanted but the box was cut open and the cereal exposed, again, yesterday, 5 days later that same box is still on the shelf. Prior to that, I couldn't get outside because there were 6 police offers dealing with the homeless outside the doors. read more

This is my local grocery store. If it weren't for the dynamic staff like Krystal and Sonny, along with an awesome store manager, who I think is new on the scene, Alex, after today's experience I would go to Safeway on Sandy, which is a little further. After finding all the items I needed and some I didn't, I went to the clearance section. Great area to shop in because there always seems to be some dynamic finds. As I getting my items rang up, Jose informs me that one of the items I found on the clearance shelf does not have a sticker indicating it was 50% off. I purchased several different spices, and all but one was marked clearance. Same brand, same size, just different spice. He goes on to tell me that he will not be giving me the discounted amount because the sticker is missing. I am in awe, because a simple call to someone to price check would have easily resolve this. But "no". He tells me I can purchase it for regular price, and that it. I decline to purchase the item, pay for my groceries and walk over to customer service and explain to Alex, the store manager what just transpired, who checks my receipt and gives me the item at 50% off. Having to go customer service was uncalled for and either the store employees need to be more empowered to make decisions like trusting a customer, or reaching out to management for approval of a sale, or Jose was being exceptionally rude and challenging. While I really wanted to say some choice words, I thought it better to go through the proper channels to resolve my issue. This really made me take a look at how good customer service is slowly but surely becoming "extinct". Jose was adamant about not going above and beyond. Is this what its come to? This store is a waste of space and gross to be in. It does not function as a grocery store. I have mentioned several times about their coolers, that store the food that people buy, do not function. And have bought food that is worthy of the trash due to this. And the clincher is that they are aware! So they are selling food that should be thrown out to people intentionally. I will be contacting headquarters of Safeway/ Albertson's to alert them of this very sketchy business. This is now a remodeled, clean store. No more floral department, but a Starbucks got added near the entrance. This part of town was lacking a chain coffeehouse so I guess you could see that as a plus (but really, go to Jim and Patty's nearby). The new seating area by Starbucks, the improvements to the store perimeter and the new signs do help this store feel like it's got another life yet. We'll see how time treats it. read more

Make sure they put all of the groceries in the bag! On three different occasions the checker has not put something in the bag I have paid for and that is on the receipt. I am not sure if they are helping their bottom line using this practice of if they are really that disorganized. Watch them...don't be fooled by the mindless conversation they attempt. I hate comming to this Albertsons. I would much rather go to winco on 102nd than to this store. I thought winco was trashy....um no, this albertsons is. I usually like to shop where theres not trashy people and what not but man, this one puts the icing on the cake! I went to Albertsons today and it was amazing. While the selection of groceries wasn't great, and the store wasn't necessarily easy to navigate, or especially clean, but there was one thing that made my experience so amazing. My Cashier. Her name was Latonshina, she was kind, helpful, funny, and made the store an absolutely wonderful place to shop. l I truly believe this cashier deserves a rase, and an employee of the month award. read more

Albertson's recently announced it would be closing seven of its Northwest stores. Unfortunately, this location will not be one of them. This Albertson's admittedly has never had the best location to work within, as Cully isn't a great neighborhood. This store hasn't done the neighborhood any favors though. I pass by on my way to and from work, and I've finally concluded that it's better to go out of my way to shop elsewhere, no matter what small thing I might need. There is literally no small detail I can come up with that is a reason to shop here. Not something unique they have, not lower prices, not anything. Go to the Safeway on Fremont and Sandy instead. Not perfect, but world's better than the dirty, slummy feel of this Albertson's. If there was as much attention to the beer section as to handing out Monopoly pieces as a "reward" for buying groceries there, they might have even one small thing I'd be willing to stop for. Not so. The beer sucks, the meat sucks, the cheese sucks, I wouldn't even hazard the bakery or produce, and everything is surprisingly as expensive or moreso than shopping at Fred Meyer. read more

my main gripes are minor, and regarding the limitations in selection. for instance, my favorite triscuits are the garden herb, which is the only kind they don't have (but stupid cracked pepper whateverthehell gets a ton of shelf space). they only have rold gold some of the time, which is unfortunate since they're way superior to snyder's pretzels. the cherry supply sucks, and really there's too much 'organic' produce and not enough conventional - i refuse to pay extra for hippie hype. and i wish they had lightly sweetened cold coffee instead of that caramel crap... but hey, it's a smaller store, so choices were made, i can dig it. the deli workers have all been very sweet (that fried chicken is fantastic! bring back the baby backs!), and really almost the entire staff is very friendly and helpful. they work hard to keep the place clean and stocked, which is hard in an unfriendly neighborhood of selfish and entitled dipshits. the deposit-rustling bums are kinder than most of the motherfuckers that live around here... EDIT: the receipts are INSANELY long. so unnecessary. perhaps being threatened with violence by the receipt paper syndicate? how about making "no receipt" an option like little-known yet environmentally-savvy chains like home depot? read more

This is worst grocery store I go to. You have to remember prices of everything you're buying or you will be overcharged. There is a glaring lack of training for the employees. If the bleeding gums of your checkout clerk doesn't turn you off on the shopping experience one has, the lurking characters in the parking lot at night will. read more

I stop in here because it is pretty much the only store that is close to my work. The prices on most things seem really high but it is convenient. I went there this week to buy a carrot cake for my boyfriends birthday. I spoke to a lady in the bakery and she was friendly and helpful. Sheesh! Decided to grab some fried chicken and deli salads that I have heard rave reviews about. Famished, physically exhausted, yep, decent deli tonight. Yeah, no. First the raved about chicken was like eating salt lick. I made it through part of one wing. Yikes! It was inedible! It was as though someone had hella salted it, another employee came along and figured it hadn't been salted and added LOTS more, went away and yet another dutiful soul came along and dunked it in brine just for the heck of it! The wings are TINY. One of them was so little if it was any smaller I would swear under oath that it belonged to a Cornish Hen. I took a picture of it. And the potato salad? How about chunking up some white potatoes, barely boil them and toss them in a bowl with gobs of mayo and some sugar. There ya go - potato salad! The chicken was crispy and hot. If it had been edible I think I would have thoroughly enjoyed! read more

The past few weeks especially it seems, I have seen some improvements with this place. I appreciate the organic produce and gluten-free selections. However, I never buy any meat here. I will go out of my way to another store to avoid buying meat here. I never have, and I know I'm not the only one. The salmon all has dye in it, not much in the way of organic meat, and hate to say it, but it doesn't look too appealing either, so I don't buy it. other sections of the store, though, are really great and I have seen steady improvements. is it just me? I think they are going in a positive direction, and they've been trying to have more local stuff as well. Their coffee section just got better. I've been noticing more variety and wider selections of a lot of stuff, too. So that's all good. And I can feel that the employees really care and are very patient and helpful, so I hate to even say anything negative about the place... read more

...slowly creeping its way toward 3 stars. I moved back to the area one year ago and was a little dismayed by my shopping options. Luckily, as the neighborhood has become more populated I feel that it has had an impact on this store. The more frequently I purchase certain items, the higher the quality becomes. The kale may not be organic, but now it is local. They've added a few more organic items slowly to the roster, like the arugula, and just recently they've added stumptown cold brew to their selection, which is especially nice on those days when I'm in a rush. I think that the more that this neighborhood invests in this store the better it will become. They have a lot to compete with seeing as how a New Seasons opens up on a new corner every week...(New Seasons is still where I purchase meats and most organics), but one thing that this Albertsons does provide consistently is great customer service.
