Whole Foods Market is probably the closest thing El Paso has to a foodie gourmet playground…read more Fantastic organic produce, an excellent seafood and meat selection, a great bakery, and dangerously good prepared foods. On Fridays, twelve oysters for $12 -- that is hard to beat. The seafood department is by far the best in El Paso, with beautiful fresh Chilean sea bass and salmon. A true paradise for at-home chefs like me. Another great "Friday Deals" promotion, typically includes discounted large pizzas for Amazon Prime members -- often around $8-$12 depending on the topping. This makes the store feel almost like a gourmet happy hour destination!!! The store is also impeccably clean, well organized, and the perfect destination whether you love cooking or are preparing a dinner party. Yes, prices can feel a little "Whole Paycheck," but the quality is consistently outstanding. What really elevates the experience is the customer service. Staff members are knowledgeable, friendly and attentive, especially Iker in the seafood section, who consistently provides excellent recommendations and service.

El Super Grocery is a fantastic find for anyone looking to get high-quality, freshly fried fish…read more This massive grocery store has an impressive selection across all departments - from meat and dairy to a full-service bakery and food court. I was particularly impressed by the fish section. Unlike typical grocery stores, El Super will fry up any fish you select for you on the spot. This is a game-changer if you don't want to deal with the hassle and smell of frying fish at home. The tilapia I got was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with no fishy flavor. They'll fry up fillets as well as whole fish - just be aware that they don't remove the heads or tails if you go with the whole fish option. The fish section at El Super is truly impressive - they have a huge variety of fresh seafood options, from whole fish to fillets and beyond. As someone used to the traditional Asian grocery experience of picking a live fish and having it prepared, I was initially a bit thrown off by the process at El Super. Rather than selecting a live fish, you choose the pre-packaged fish you want from the refrigerated cases. You then take the fish to the counter and they give you a slip with the price. From there, you have to go back up to the front registers to pay for the fish before returning to the counter to have it fried. At first, this extra step threw me for a loop, as I'm used to a more streamlined process. But once I got the hang of it, I appreciated the efficiency. The staff were very friendly and helpful in guiding me through the system. When I returned to the fish counter after paying, they immediately got to work frying up my tilapia. I watched in amazement as they carefully dropped the whole fish into the hot oil, frying it to crispy perfection without a hint of greasiness. The transformation from raw fish to delectable fried dish was really impressive. The end result was absolutely worth the extra step. The tilapia was cooked to absolute perfection - the outside was a beautiful golden brown and the meat inside was moist and flavorful, with no trace of that unpleasant fishy taste. I also really appreciated that they were willing to fry up other seafood items beyond just the pre-packaged fish, like calamari and shrimp. That expanded the possibilities for my fried seafood feast. Overall, while the process took a bit more navigating than I expected, the quality of the fried fish at El Super more than made up for it. I'll definitely be back to take advantage of this awesome service again! They fry fish at the Gateway location and Zaragoza, though I'm not sure if other locations do it as well. -TODOELPASO 10501 Gateway Blvd W # 600, El Paso, TX 79925 703 N Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, TX 79907

I wouldn't shop here regularly, but comes in handy for a few items and of course any Latino seasonings/ingredients for any meal you're preparing. They have snacks or dulces (sweets/candy) too. The produce is priced fairly and the market areas are reasonable - bakery, butcher, tacos, etc. I've yet to try their tamales. Gotta do that! Anyone try them? I here Valentine's Bakery has good ones. Not sure though. Recently I've had some donuts here. They were tasty but I normally liked them warm and it's no donut shop. The pastries and customer cake orders are great (price and taste). I recently ordered some "Frozen" cupcakes for my daughter's class on her birthday and they nailed my vision. They had some "Frozen" candles too which we're pretty convenient. You pay a small deposit when ordering and then pick up and pay the remaining balance. My oldest teen (a cupcake connoisseur of sorts) said they were really good ones. So that's a win! I typically order my cakes from Albertsons, but may make the switch for any designs. They have self-check out now which is cool. Must pay on cake orders through the cashier at a checkout lane though. I'll be back...if not for anything else, for cake hehe. I have 5 blessings, so we're always celebrating a birthday it seems hehe. They get busier in the evening it seems.

I went in after arriving from Huntsville, AL, after a long day flying. I ordered the food and took it back to my hotel room, as there is no place to sit inside the Food City supermarket. It would be awesome if they had a place to eat it fresh besides your car outside. Run, don't walk, but run to this place before they get figured out by the world. The burritos were off the hook, and this is the first time I have ever had a chili relleno burrito. I'm talking about a whole battered chili relleno with beans wrapped in a killer tortilla. They have a pharmacy and other odd and ends not just related to food. Full alcohol section. Even a Starbucks inside to get your basic pumpkin spice nonsense. And they often have really good sales on meat, and even a special discount for military on meat and cuts of meats on Tuesdays. It's kinda cool actually. Otherwise it's just a grocery store. This one happens to be very close to my house, so when i need stuff in a pinch or don't have time to hit up the one on base, I stop by here. In fact, if I do hit the one on base and they are out of something, chances are I can find ghat item here, and be on my way.

PAY ATTENTION TO PRICES AT THIS STORE! Twice within a two-month period, I have experienced this…read more'Dynamic Pricing' ripoff at this Abertson's located on Kenworthy Street in NE El Paso. The store uses those electronic price tags. The price tags will indicate one price, but the item scans at a higher price at check-out. Again, this has happened to me twice in the past two months. For example, a pack of 8 tortillas was listed as $3.99 on the electronic price tag, but scanned at the register as $6.99. As I sat and thought about it, if this is a store scam against customers, then it is the perfect store for doing so, since many of its customers are elderly. Two more things I need to point out: 1) Another customer had the same pricing issue, and 2) The 'customer watcher' at the self check-out comes right over and makes the price change with no questions asked. It's flaky as hell, and I advise everyone to do an experiment by taking pictures of the price tags before going to the check-out.
