My husband and I contracted Paramount to build a deck for us last summer. Paramount is the only company we contacted for quotes that specializes in composite decks, and the on-site consult we had was excellent. The quotes that Paramount provides are also great, with everything itemized so you can see all the charges upfront, and what different add-ons or changes may cost. We loved them and it was an easy choice over the other companies we contacted. Once we committed to hiring Paramount though, communication took a nose dive. We needed to go through a couple quote revisions before getting on the schedule, and three times I had to call the office when a week or more had gone by and I hadn't gotten a response to my emails and the updates we were needing on the quote. This pushed construction back a month later than we were hoping. The scheduling and construction of our deck was a cluster-you-know-what. Our construction date was changed a few times, and no one at the office seemed to know what was going on. I had to call and email to make sure that Alberta One Call was contacted prior to the screw pile installation, and 10 days AFTER the screw piles were installed, the scheduler texted me to tell me that someone was coming out to put in the screw piles that week (???). Our first shipment of materials was mostly damaged (the supplier's fault, not Paramount's), so half the deck was built and we had to wait another 1.5 weeks for the second shipment. The crew that was scheduled to move the boards into our backyard for the second shipment on a Friday did not show up, so we had a pallet of decking materials blocking our garage (and preventing us from using our second vehicle) for an entire weekend. Because the deck was sitting half-finished and uncovered for a few weeks, the wood warped and we had to have our installer out again to shore up the boards and even out the surface. I got three different emails with three different dates telling me when a clean up crew would be coming to our house, and they still showed up five days after the third email said they would. I called and emailed multiple times to confirm various issues or scheduling and no one responded to me. Our contract stated that railings would be installed 4-6 weeks after the deck was constructed. The main platform of our deck was finished on August 21, and here we are in the middle of March and our railings were never installed. Part of our deck is six feet off the ground so we have never been able to use it, or get the permits to move our BBQ onto it and out of our garage for the winter. The stairs also aren't finished because we needed our landscaping finished first to level off the ground, and we were explicit that this would be the case before signing the contract with Paramount, but I'm wondering how difficult it will be to get someone out here this spring to put in our stairs. So, we have a big platform in our yard and nothing else. I got sick of calling Paramount every few weeks asking when our railings would be installed so I gave up in December. No one made any effort to follow up with us over the fall and winter, which would have been appropriate considering that we were promised railings over and over again. Our user account was deleted on the online scheduler Paramount uses, so I'm assuming they're as done with us as we are with them. At this point our expectation is that we have to find another railing manufacturer and have the deck finished on our own.

We were contacted by a rep from Bains roofing who sold us on a phenomenal pitch , that we were part…read moreof 41 houses in Leduc and that we would miss out on the extremely great pricing. They started tearing off on a Friday but stopped. This wouldn't have been a bad thing but that was one the numerous freak winter weekends we were having, and the ridge caps had been removed and replaced with a flimsy piece of aluminum that blew off by the next day exposing the roof underlay to the weather. Looking at their work the ridge caps were all uneven and look like a sloppy mess and most of the flashing wasn't done right including bent eaves troughing not properly adhered to the house. Following their work and attempt at a cleanup they left a lot of shingle residue and nails and were asked to go over it again with the roller magnet. We were out for a couple of days finding roofing material all around our house and neighbors. There has been no follow up or inspection as of 6 weeks from completion and we were assured that a thorough inspection would be done to ensure the quality of the workmanship. We were also promised eaves trough cleaning upon completion and found that it was not done with multiple nails and tar build up.

I have been dealing with construction companies for over 17 years…read more I have never seen a job so poorly done with total disregard for the overall project. It was a simple garage pad and sidewalk however Derek concrete was absolutely the worst choice. The garage pad is noncompliant with the city of Edmonton even though they were given proper permit locations. The sidewalks are crooked and uneven with improper expansion joints. The driveway is too steep causing my car to bottom out each time I drive in and out of my garage. water is pooling in the garage pad. The water is coming in from the man door right underneath the frame into the garage obviously they've sloped the concrete into the garage not away from it . The crew also left my outside tap running causing a small flood in my basement .I have contacted Derrick concrete general manager and they are unwilling to fix any of their problems. The water in my garage is approximately 1 inch deep- which will be a drywall mold nightmare! The broom finish that they have put on the sidewalk is horrendous the trolling is bulging and not even done in some areas. I spoke with the city of Edmonton for by law and they agree that the garage pad is terrible. I have also spoken with the Better Business Bureau. Please save yourself money and headache and do not use Derek concrete for any of your projects.

Our home builder made an error when they put up the ledger board, which Cory found and carefully rectified to ensure our deck didn't pull away from the house. They are good, honest, hard working folks. They worked quickly, and built a quality product. The price was more than fair. We get compliments on the deck all the time, so happy we went with Lyco!

Then I was told they would put a lien on my house if I did not pay. I would not go anywhere near these people with a ten foot pole.

The quote was a bit higher than the other that we'd received. When we asked questions or left messages, they were answered immediately, which gave us a great deal of confidence and we ended up hiring them. The work was scheduled and completed within 4 days, by a crew that was knowledgeable, thorough, and VERY polite. In addition, even though they had to dismantle and reassemble a deck, by the time they finished, we could hardly tell that they had been there. I highly recommend this company!

The folks working on his behalf made numerous mistakes, causing the project to go over time (by multiple weeks) and over budget, to the point we terminated working with them and had to finish the project ourselves (which was more time and more money for us). If Joe had been on site, it may have gone differently, but in the end, it was a very upsetting experience. Looking online, I see only the positive, raving reviews, but the company has been in business for so long that I wonder where the other reviews are...? If your project is unusual at all, shop around.

Needed renovations at the house; e.g. kitchen, basement and spare bathroom…read more After doing research; e.g. reviewing the Better Business Bureau, reading reviews, etc. and getting a few quotes, I decided to go with Joe Costantino of "Do It All Contracting"; a member of the Better Business Bureau since 1997! When I first met with Joe, he was very personable and gave good advice/suggestions! Sometimes, we think we know what we want, but when it gets close to getting done...not so much! Do It All Contracting had reasonable rates/pricing; e.g. another contractor was going to charge $20.00 more per hour for the electrical work. I was very satisfied with the workmanship and the work was completed on budget and schedule!
