The best part was the playgrounds. They were massive. One big park and one smaller one for the younger kids. They have tons of soccer fields and couple of baseball diamonds and a skating rink which is fairly new and probably among the better ones in the city. It comes equipped with benches and all. OH and a big hill for winter if you want to go sledding during recess. They also had a huge empty field but now condo's have gone up in that field but there is still more than enough empty land to play on. I don't know if they still get off early on Thursday's but if they do.. you're welcome. Is it obvious I went here?

Soccer Nets, an ice rink, Lots of hills and even beside an outdoor pool. It brings the following of traditions through the Métis and the Inuit people, Terry Fox run by the start of the year, and game parties before winter and summer break. Has amazing staff, good food, a very safe place, lots of clubs and lots of people as well, 4 out of 5 stars.

It's literally in the same field as Sir George Simpson Jr. High and has so much to do! There are trails that run all the way to Wild Rose Elementary and Albert Lacombe Elementary but be warned - coyotes do live in the woods here and are seen regularly. The sports field is HUGE with full size soccer fields, ball diamond, outdoor rink for winter fun, and the best open grassy fields and hills to sled on. Grosvenor Outdoor pool connects to this park system on the North edge. My kids never get bored of this playground or park and I know we'll be back a hundred more times! As far as the school goes, my friends that have kids here love it! Robert Rundle has programs supporting kiddos with extra needs and a free hot lunch program this school year as part of a Provincial pilot. I wish my kids were this lucky!

Steinhauer Elementary is such a great school!…read more Not only did I go to Steinhauer as a kid but I've been back over the years to visit the teachers and see how things have changed. I have volunteered in some of the classes and it's still a great place to be! It's just as I remember it (except some of the physical appearances - they've upgraded)! The teachers here are amazing. I can say that because I still know quite a few of them. And the environment is really great. They've revamped a lot of the school from the days I attended school there and everything looks amazing and modern, but comforting at the same time. It's a great school!

Nowadays they focus way too much on safety and take out anything that could be remotely dangerous.. I guess that's a sigh of relief for parents but kids just want to play. Now the park has been completely modified. It's much smaller and they have taken out all the best things, like the giant tires, and replaced them with swings and other boring stuff. The school does have a huge playground though, with a few soccer fields and baseball diamond. It's great for anyone that likes to organize their own games with their friends on the weekends.

I attended one year of elementary school here and it was great. I went back a few months ago to see if things were still as I remembered them (I was feeling nostalgic) and they were. It was great! I also wanted to talk to someone bout volunteer opportunities which the office was happy to talk to me about. The most recent thing that sticks in my head about this school though, is the kids. I was going for a run one morning when I found a group of kids standing just to the side of the school at the edge of the field with protest signs. They read "Save Our Field." I guess there were plans to develop it. The passion that these kids had for their school and their community was incredible. That's why Greenfield Elementary is great - the kids. That's the great thing about Greenfield as a whole, it's a community and everyone there sees it that way. It's a great thing.

The school even has great volunteer-run extras like the Skipping Club and the always excellent Strategic Gaming Club. The Academic Challenge programs leads to Steele Heights Jr. High and M.E. LaZerte Sr. High School later on. Although we haven't used it they do have an Out-of-School-Care program on site. If you are looking for a school in the Londonderry/McLeod area it is well worth a look.
