The room was pristine. The views from our balcony were unreal. The restaurant was great, the breakfast was great. I will absolutely be coming back here when I stay in Varenna someday again. Make sure you listen to their website when it says to pack light, you really do have to climb up a lot of stairs to get to your room that are very narrow and it is pretty much impossible to do if you have a large suitcase.

My guess is that Varenna is a magnet for American destination weddings, which probably explains why parts of these Hotels' reservation books were already full, even when we inquired many months in advance. The Albergo Milano is located right in the old town and up. It looks very romantic and complete with killer views from the balcony.

They definitely have an eye for quality. Some rooms use a community bathrooms and showers while others have very small, blue, ultra-modern bathrooms crammed into the room. The bathroom experience is worth the stay in itself, but you are going to love every other aspect of the hotel as well. Bergun is a nice small village of farmers with easy access to hiking trails. We enjoyed visiting the church and going to the bakery.

Our room is very clean with fresh linens and filled with all the supplies that we need. They also gave us complimentary water bottles, coffee, and some snacks. The best part was eating breakfast while watching the sun rise from their panoramic windows at their restaurant. Very peaceful and pleasant to sit down and eat or drink at their bar and take pictures outside. Their service was excellent and staff were very friendly and everyone I met there were kind, helpful, and fulfilled all our needs and questions. Very nice place to stay on Varenna. Highly highly recommend this hotel!

It is absolutely gorgeous with elegant furnitures, collective articles, wall panels and crown molding. The decoration is stunningly beautiful. The staff is very friendly remembering your name and can tell you stories about the collective articles. The building itself was an elegant reminder of European history and culture. My stay there for a business trip was just fabulous. It wasn't super expensive for European hotel standard, euro 165 a night for a king size bed. If you visit during the week of Formula One race competition, it would be very hard to find a spot at this hotel if you do not book early (by the way, the hotel room is decorated with many Formula One photos). His mother had a lake view room across the hall - smaller, but with a beautiful view of the lake. Huge balcony! Breakfast was included, basic but filling enough. Breads, croissants, lots of jams and Nutella, some meats, granola, yogurt, boiled eggs, and coffee. We stayed at the end of September, which is off season and when it starts to cool down. Would be amazing in the summer. Can lie out on the dock, take their paddle boat out, and go for a swim. Boat, train and bus stops nearby (walking distance). We even walked to a nearby town Bissone for dinner one night. Great stay! Would come back again!
