Siena is absolutely wonderful. It was a chore getting a cab to drop you off in the town center. Seemed like there was one cab making repeated rounds and some of us banded together to get a ride. You cannot walk to the hotel as the town itself is pretty far from the train station. The hotel is in two separate buildings and there was no one manning the first building and I had to call for help. The was a strange smell in the lobby like a wet cat or something. The room was located in the top floor, no elevators, had to turn on lights to see where I was going. Very bare room almost like a monastery. Lights were funky and the bed was uncomfortable. Bathroom was a dive and the hot water literally took 10-15 mins to heat up in the shower. So, if you had a double room and were sharing, you'd have to waste a whole bunch of time to get a hot shower. The front desk folks were pleasant and very helpful. No breakfast was served and was not given enough info at check in. read more
