After going to the ER for a chemical corneal burn/abrasion (due to swim goggle defogger) on New Years Day 2025, it was recommended that I see an ophthalmologist the next day. Albemarle Eye Center in Kitty Hawk kindly worked me in on an emergency basis. Dr. Lindsey and her staff were professional and very knowledgeable in treating this significant injury and made appropriate recommendations for followup with my ophthalmologist in Fairfax, VA upon our return home. I had my third and last appointment with this doctor today, and he commented that my healing has progressed excellently and sees no need for further treatment. My vision has returned to very close to normal, I am very grateful to Dr. Lindsey and her staff for their excellent treatment and contribute my unexpectedly positive recovery to their expertise. The optometrist and techs were great, effient, and precise. I didn't have to wait when showing up 10 mins before my appointment. The reason for two stars off is because the rep so helps you pick out glasses was slightly aloof. Wasn't really paying attention to questions I was asking, was really preoccupied with something else going on at her computer, it's like I were an afterthought and whatever was on her screen was more important than me. She misunderstood several of my questions because she weren't paying attention. It was all sort of weird. I'll go back again as my experience were generally good, but I might try a different glasses tech. read more

This used to be great! I've been a patient there for years. Unfortunately, after they rescheduled my appointment, sent me a text, email and phone call to confirm my new appointment, they call 2 days before my appointment to inform me they no longer accept Tricare insurance. I don't think I've ever seen someone so throughly screw over their patients and ruin their own business. If you really don't care about keeping your appointment then by all means try going here. read more

Had a appointment scheduled for the 9th of this month. My gut told me something was up so called to confirm since I made it a long time ago to be told the doctor I was scheduled with only sees patients with eye medical problems. And they wouldn't be able to fit me in anytime soon. Wish I didn't even have to leave the one star. Glad I did t wait as well and can now work I stead of having my time wasted. Yall messed with the wrong person. I. Gone pass the word on how you treat your customers all over the outer banks. They over schedule resulting in unacceptable wait times . The service providers are professional and courteous

Frequent long waits and shuffling between rooms with long waits in between...office mgmt did not impress. Now they called a few hours before the appt to say the doctor was rescheduling me for 10 days out (after this long-standing appt that arranged schedule around). They had known for days and didn't let me know. Any practice so inconsiderate of MY time doesn't deserve my business. If I had done that to the precious doctor, I would be billed. read more

I had cataract surgery the first part of January. After an hour and a half drive to the surgery center upon arriving, the first thing they asked for was payment in full of the balance. After paying, an assistant came out and told me the laser machine was down but the could do it basically by hand. The next statement was that there was no discount due to the laser being unavailable. Rather than waste another day, I went ahead and had it done. The next day folowup was a joke. The doctor came in, looked at me and said you're good to go. I had to stop hiom from leaving the room to ask questions. His answers directly contridicted what the brochure that they gave me said. My next followup visit was close to the same. When I went to check in they wanted me to fill out papers for the other eye and pay the 50% deposit. I told them I was there for a followup and was not doing the other eye until the first eye was to my satisfaction. There was only one person there who was noteworthy, an assistant named Becca. She was professional, courteous and answered all my questions, by far the best person I had contact with. The profile of this business seems to be get the money and show them the door. ONLY go here if you want to be treated like CATTLE. My hubby went- along with about 30+ people all crammed into a tiny office waiting room. Then he was shuttled from room to room- for two hours. Finally he contacted me- I had let him go alone- it was only an eye exam for possible cataract surgery- and I went over immediately. They could not even find out which room he was in when I got there! (I guess cattle get lost too.!!) Dr Swarrup said- you should have been told ti was a THREE to FOUR hour exam! Well we weren't! SO he stops and wants to get the gals straight while we care there. I have shared the results with his Veteran Medical Center Eye doctor- who has been following him every THREE months and she was stunned they would do surgery on someone with 20-20 in one eye and 20-25 in the other. (That reading was hers from August 2017!! She said is was virtually impossible for him to have deteriorated that much in three months and he did NOT need surgery, Today when I called to talk with someone about it- NO ONE called me back! This is the closest thing to a joke- played on unsuspecting patients- and he should not be allowed to take advantage of elderly patients with VERY GOOD insurance! Shame on him- and you too, if you go there for treatment. read more

Totally disappointing their lack of concern for long-time patients. Now that they closed the Nags Head office, trying to handle two VERY busy practices into one is just not working. If one was going to be suspect...one might think get you into the cataract surgery, collect $8,000 then you are on your own. I made our annual eye check 5 months in advance only to receive a letter saying Dr. Lynch (who we think is one of the best opthmologists around) was rescheduling her patients. We secured an appointment a month later, only to go to the appointment and have them have an "emergency" and ask everyone to leave and reschedule their appointment. And the reschedule won't be available until Mid March. All toll 10 months to wait for an annual eye exam...and all the while I cannot get my glasses replaced because the prescription is too old. So any recommendation for in OBX for annual eye health? read more
