You will throw your money out the window if you go to college for broadcasting. You may read bitter reviews from some saying they wish they went to college for four years but the fact is...you'll be making the same amount of money starting in radio regardless if you have a degree or not. You'll also read reviews from people upset that the can't find a job but that's not the schools fault. If you're a good talent willing to work hard and present yourself well, you will eventually find on air work depending on the market you're searching. They don't promise you employment. The road to being successful in radio isn't easy and the pay sucks for 90% of people starting in radio and it doesn't get much better ten years later. If you're not willing to sacrafice, work hard long hours (even weekends), accept that there's a good chance you'll never make over 100,000 a year or you can't accept that you'll be let go (FIRED) every 5 years, then find a different path. Oh, looks matter in radio too. If you're overweight (worse for women) and don't have a marketable look, you'll have a hard time finding work. I know, I know....reality sucks! :-( From the stand point of a 23 year veteran in radio broadcasting, they teach you EVERYTHING you need to know about the business with state of the art equipment. It's the best school in that area. They also have the best track record of people finding employment after graduating than any school in that area. At one time while working in NC, I was working with five people who went through that school. NC is 13-15 hours and many states away.

Please don't waste your money. I graduated three years ago and haven't been able to find a job and…read morenever get the supposed updates that they send about jobs in the area. I would recommend attending four year college over this place. Not recognizable as they say they are. I do know some people who got jobs but most of them were getting paid basically minimum wage and less then when they started here. Just wouldn't recommend sorry. A lot of the class is spent using a camera and editing but a lot of it is just sitting there working on projects for weeks & weeks. No real interaction. Also some of the staff can be very snippy if you try to stand up for yourself and disagree with them. Not impressed. Plus a minus star because Albany sucks. ***Just updating this review because I've noticed that NSRT has told some people from the nineties to add some reviews. Please note in the nineties the internet wasn't even around. These people lie about the industry and Chris Familette even once told me he hopes to get as many students into to the school and make money off of them. I think he was kind of drunk but he did say that. The teachers are getting a profit off of every student, thats probably why the reputable ones left. PLEASE AVOID THE DEBT. its not worth it.. television is a dieing industry .. people don't tune into the 5 o'clock news now like they did 25 years ago. This school will not help you. .. well you may be able to get a $11 hour job doing master control or cameraman at local Albany newsstation but you're not going to be Diane Sawyer lets put it that way. My 1st exercise at this school was videotaping cars running over potholes. With iPhones nowadays people are teaching themselves. DON'T FALL FOR IT, I AM FINALLY PAYING OFF THE DEBT now. And don't fall for Cathy when she gives you the tour she's like a used car salesman selling Dodge Neons. I AM WARNING YOU GUYS, one girl in our class was very well off and she paid twice to go to this school once to study the technical aspect and then a 2nd time to study the journalism aspect... do you think they gave her a break... NO... $$$$$$

Everytime u click a link u wind up somewhere u have no idea where u are, its complete patchwork. Even there email replies, when u send them an email they reply and delete ur original question so if ur busy u have no idea what question they are answering without going back to search for ur original email. Its a shame because they are responsive and they could be so much better if they had people test their tech so see how bad the user experience is if in fact the care about their customers. If you have trouble with their user experience due to outdated tech let them know or give a THUMBS UP here so hopefully they will help us and help themselves!

It was purchased for us and we were so excited to start! My son started in the mini 1 when he was 14 months old. We moved him up to the mini 2 a month later as he was much older than babies in the mini 1. We LOVED our instructor, Kaitlyn, whom we had for a majority of the time. When we moved up to Junior 1, we made sure to get into a group with Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn is still our favorite and my son lights up when he even sees her face at Goldfish. Sadly she was not our instructor for long, and we've had many instructor changes since then. While I do understand the constant instructor changes as far as staff being out sick or needing to cover another lesson, I know it's really difficult especially with children who struggle with change, to not see the same friendly face each week. We have now officially been at Goldfish for 3 years. Unfortunately due to many absences due to illnesses and things out of our control, my son is still not swimming independently. It breaks my heart that my son WAS 2 stars away from mastering all of his skills (until his last assessment where he lost 3 stars in ONE lesson) in their entirety. I do not agree with many of Goldfish's policies such as if you pay cash or check you MUST pay 3 months in advance. I also dislike the fact that you must be enrolled in auto-pay because I would like to use a different card to pay at times but I do not know that until the time comes. Goldfish's updated policy regarding make up lessons stated that make up lessons must be used within the same month of the missed lesson, but when you schedule a make up lesson the email you receive states that make ups can be used at any time while you're enrolled in Goldfish. I don't know which is correct but it doesn't seem right to have people pay for a month and then miss their chance for a make up lesson if they are unable to use it that month, especially when it was already paid for. There have been times of inclement weather where I've had to sit and wait around to see if Goldfish would close or I would have to use an absence due to weather conditions. This was really frustrating when you have a 45 minute drive to Albany. The Goldfish app is absolute trash, and there are forever issues with it. The company needs a major overhaul with that!

The owner charged me $500 for 2 kids to take four 30-minute semi private lessons (when both kids were swimming, one sat on the steps while the other got instruction, so they basically only got to swim for 15 minutes each). I later learned that Ashley charges roughly that same amount for each kid to get their own four private 30-minute lessons! I asked about this discrepancy and the owner ignored the query for several weeks. When she did call me directly, she just said this was the policy and refused my request for a refund. (FWIW, I initially only communicated to her via text message because she was recommended by a friend; she never sent me any company policy information until after I had paid.) AVOID!

In fact they kinda like it. Actually, they really like it. And for that I blame Ashley. We were recommended to her by an adult friend who worked with her to improve his own swimming. But Ashley is great with kids. Now my children are pool safe. I can trust that they can fall in a pool and not drown. We are not a terribly athletic family, so we have no Olympic dreams. Still, the kids continue to work with Ashley to get stronger and stronger in the pool. Maybe if she were meaner like the swim teachers of my youth, the kids might progress a little faster. But it's also possible their slow progress is just genetic and based on the fact that outside of their time with Ashley they spend almost all of their hours on dry land. On the practical side, Ashley is great to work with and has been exceedingly flexible with my crazy schedule, and I appreciate that immensely. But that nice to the kids thing? That's still hard to take.
